I'd have to see the silver in person (can't tell from the pic), but I generally don't like silver colored plastic. The white looks really nice.

Don't listen to the previous posts...The silver looks like a chromed out muscle car whereas the white looks like a kitchen counter top.
Definately go with the silver.

The white would look pretty badass with a white TV, receiver, speakers, etc... but I'm thinking it would look retarded next to everything else I have that is silver or black.

Based on the following information, I would definitely go with the white version.
It turns out that the Satin Silver model, while having the same functionality as a standard PS2, has problems running certain PlayStation 2 and PlayStation titles. The exact list of games with problems is available, in Japanese, here. Here's an English list of PS2 games that won't run properly on the Satin Silver unit:
Gauntlet Dark Legacy: Will sometimes freeze following the opening movie
The Stylish Mahjong: Will sometimes freeze at the save screen once you've changed the options
Racing Battle C1 Grand Prix: sound effects will sometimes replay endlessly when you hit walls and rails
F1 2001: will sometimes freeze after the title logo
F1 2002: will sometimes freeze after title logo when game is started up with GT-FORCE controller attached. If GT-FORCE is not attached, works fine.
Hitman Contract: takes extended time to create save file
Tekken 5: When selecting "Tekken 3" from Arcade History, the game will sometimes freeze following the save screen.
The PS2 list isn't too long, but the PlayStation list, in comparison, includes nearly forty titles. Most of these are smaller games, but Resident Evil 2 apparently has some sound problems during movies.
All new PlayStation 2 revisions from here on out, including any units that carry the SCPH-75000 model number, will have these problems. Sony hasn't provided a reason for why the problems exist, but suggests that those who want to play the blacklisted games purchase an SCPH-70000 or earlier model PS2.

Seriously, the white one looks cool but I bet the controllers will show dirt and stains and such much worse.

What is with people's obsession with white on these boards? I don't get it. White is so.....well, white. It's bland. Sure silver is kind of a trendy color (maybe that is why people hate it so much here), but at least it's got something to it. The white looks like the walls in my "still haven't painted it since construction" house. Blah!

I also agree that white is being overhyped by manufacturers these days. Everyone wants to have the next iPod. ;)
Silver, to match every other electronic component, duh.

Go for silver and avoid steaming piles that look like Macintrash stuff.

I'm huge on white electronics. My laptop is white, my alarm clock is white a few other things are to. However the white slim ps2 looks like shit IMO. Go with the sliver. When the ps2 were fat I was going to import a white one. However for some reason the slim ps2 does not look all that good in white again IMO, go with sliver.

The silver PS2 would look good if it was either made of metal, or actually looked like metal. But its not, its not even silver, it looks like cheap grey plastic.
the white one, looks soo bright that it looks like ceramic, which would be kickass!
So its not that white is better than silver in general, its just that out of these two PS2's the white looks nicer and of a higher quality, and the silver looks cheap.
I was looking at those as well, but i decided to go with the other one they have out... they dont advertise it as much

Keep in mind that the photos shown appear to be heavily photoshopped. The real items probably look a little different.
