I'm thinking of getting an N64, but I want the pak in it so I can play Perfect Dark...just wondering what it looks like and where I'd find it on the system.

It's at the very front, you'll notice a thing between the power and reset buttons.. pull it open and you should see something that's rectangular in shape, red with circles in it.

Check some of the local used game stores as when they take the system in, they may have the expansion pack inside of them already so you don't have to spend extra. Many people trade the system in without putting the old jump pack in so they get less for the trade, but it is very YMMV if you find one with the expansion pack inside of it.

There were some 3rd party ones too. They won't always have a red top. Can't say if they work as well, but I see no reason why they wouldn't.

If you are desperate you can buy new ones directly from Nintendo but they will charge an arm and a leg(30). I have yet to see a system without one since they were required by many of the best games.
I saw a third party one that was black. It was at EB for $25! They charge a lot for these things considering a N64 at EB is $15.
I got a question to you guys. I heard that the lid should be off when using the expansion pack, is this true? Something about over heating.

I've never had an issue with mine. Thought it's a genuine Nintendo one. Perhaps the 3rd party ones are flaky?

I've never heard of that either - the little instruction sheet that came with the expansion pack says to put the cover back on after installation - and I hope Nintendo would know thier own product pretty well (but maybe they don't) - I've had one for many years and never had any problems out of it

I bought my N64 from a friend and thats what he told me and since when I touched it it gotr quite warm I figured that it made sense. Now I gotta find a cover, considering that I never got one from my friend. Thanks for the info.
