I've noticed a good improvement with what's been done so far. Nice and snappy response when going from link to link. The drives and memory certainly are apparent from the old box.

Tabbed browsing is working nicely. All the threads load up immediately. Though sometimes I'll right click to open a new thread in a new tab and I'll be signed out of that tab so I have to sign in to view it.

No. it happened repeatedly over a 45-60 minute period and there is no way i would have continued to double-click that many times (i've never done it before). I just gave up trying to post. Again, wasn't a big deal, and it might have just been me.

I've noticed three bugs :

- Links are wonky. When you preview the page, the links work fine. When the the post is posted, they have a cheapassgamer/qkrv.net link prepended to them which directs the link to the CAG home page.

- Links in emails don't work. They go straight to the CAG home page instead of the referenced post.

- The cheapassgamer.com url has a cPanel page that comes up before redirecting. You should be able to specify in the .htaccess file to redirect all cheapassgamer traffic to cheapassgamers.

If you guys need some php and/or server help, let me know.

Don't know if anyone else sees this but on the front page, a red "x" appears on some deals instead of the graphic that previously displayed.

Edit: If you want to return to the front page from the forums or elsewhere and you click on the Cheap Ass Gamer banner on the top of the page, it links to the old url instead of the new and you see strange stuff about parent directory, etc.

Some problems I've been having since the move to the new server:

1) Probably nothing that can be done about this but this site runs much, much slower than before on my computer. I'm stuck on dial-up so everything is slow for me but CAG used to be one of the faster sites before the move. Now it's as slow to load as IGN and I've even got the avatars and sig's turned off.

2) Everytime I visit this site I have to retype my name and password. It used to remember me before the move to the new server.

3) I had my homepage set to the video game deals board before the move. Now when I go to that board and I display the address, it just says "cheapassgamer.com" and just takes me to the CAG homepage if I copy/paste it. I can't get the address to copy to my personal home page.

Any help would be welcome.

It's not like a huge inconvenience or anything. It happens twice a day roughly, and then you just refresh again and it's fine. It's just weird that it happens at all.

I believe once Apache and Mysql are optimized for the CAG heavy usage all will be fine. This site requires a good amount of overhead and currently Apache and Mysql are running default settings. Connections, memory usage, and some other things will greatly improve the server. The server is dual processor and we have not even activated it yet.

It's nice to see without optimization the server is doing very well. It's encouraging.

GetDaily and/or GetNew seem to be broken for me. I hit them and it just gives me a "Page cannot be displayed" error, then I refresh and it tells me I have 14 seconds to wait before I can search again, so I wait, page error again, etc...

*edit - Now the searches go instantly to "Wait 15 seconds" even if I haven't hit it previously.

Normally, when you post, the page being shown shifts to the thread being posted in, at the new post.

Right now, the post goes through, and the refresh into the thread with the new post doesn't happen. If you click the submit again, you get the warning about the same post coming up, because it did go through the first time.

If you click to the link in the thread at the top of the page, it shows the post.

Here's some new info:

When I've tried to do deletes of posts, I get the "Invalid thread" message, like it's trying to do the delete twice. It does the delete, though it doesn't refresh on-screen (the current posting problem), and it returns that error message.

When I've tried to do thread moves, I get the "This thread already exists where you're moving it to" message, and above, it seems like it's doing it twice. Again, as above, it does the thread move, and it returns the error message.

When I've tried to do deletes of posts, I get the "Invalid thread" message, like it's trying to do the delete twice. It does the delete, though it doesn't refresh on-screen (the current posting problem), and it returns that error message.

When I've tried to do thread moves, I get the "This thread already exists where you're moving it to" message, and above, it seems like it's doing it twice. Again, as above, it does the thread move, and it returns the error message.
I'm having the same problem. Plus I can't do any searches. Everytime I press "Egotrip" it tells me I have to wait 15 seconds to do another search even though I haven't done a first one.

OK let me know if you are having this issue now since I restarted apache and mysql. I think Apache seems to be the culprit on most of these issues.

I just made two posts, and they behaved normally, so that at least is done.

Also the post deletion, thread move and thread deletion issues seem to be fixed.

GetDaily and/or GetNew seem to be broken for me. I hit them and it just gives me a "Page cannot be displayed" error, then I refresh and it tells me I have 14 seconds to wait before I can search again, so I wait, page error again, etc...

*edit - Now the searches go instantly to "Wait 15 seconds" even if I haven't hit it previously.

Don't know if it's been posted, but I have to click on the "last post" and "first new post" buttons about ten times before they do anything. If I try to open them in a new tab I usually get a blank page.

Yep, I'm getting these same problems occasionally. Seems to always happen when I try to open rather large threads. I eventually give up, read a couple other threads, and then come back a few minutes later and they open right up.

Just a quick heads up. You may not care but I think it could be a legitiamate thing to look into more. As you know work places everywhere block the word "ass" of course and any variation of the word "game". I have been able to by pass these words by using CheapyD.com. Since the new server though it seems that my work has now blocked Cheapyd.com and has the company message of the word "games" filtered. It may be due to how cheapyd.com is linked to cheapassgamer since it was never like that till the new server came. Maybe there is a way to get around this for the purpose of working CAGs. I know a few of my friends have had the same problems with CAG from their respective works and know it isn't an isolated case. It may not be your top priority but I'm sure there is a very high percentage of CAGs that will be lost from 9-5, not to mention revenue for you from the links.

Every now and then when I'm at my subscribed threads, and I click the "read last post" icon, I get "This page can not be displayed". Then it'll keep doing that for a couple minutes, but the forum won't be down. I'll still be able to go to the first post, but not the last post. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

Been having trouble getting CAG to show up at all, 90% of the time i try to load the site it can't find it. Also to find my posts and the posts after it in threads or to just get threads to show up on the forums it takes about 7 clicks to the refresh button.

I don't know what's happened in the past day or two, but the same problems that happened a few months ago, when submitting/editting posts, PMs, and such, clicking on view last post, and such it doesn't go to the normal page, but just goes to a page cannot be displayed error page while still submitting it.

I seem to be having some problems as well. For a lot of avatars, instead of seeing the picture, I see "X's avatar." When clicking on the last post for a thread, I'll have to reload a bunch of times to get it to load.
