Do you license the opening music for the show from game companies or do you just play it and hope that you don't get attacked by lawyers?

Why do you never review ps2 games? Or originial xbox games. I myself can't afford a xbox 360 and still buy games. Or at least mention which ones are coming out for xbox as well. And my roomate has a ps2.

Whatever happened to that xbox 360 giveway btw?

What is your reaction to the recent so called "Platinum Hits" lineup from Microsoft where they will start offering older 360 titles for a cheaper but higher than expected $29 price point? How successful do you think their desired new "budget" pricepoint will work?

Wombat I am a rookie Oblivion player who likes RPG's but is having trouble progressing. Can you offer any advice on character creation, sidequests to avoid, or any other tips for Oblivion noob's? Thanks.

Here's a CAGbag question. What do you guys think of the way Gran Turismo HD: Classic is being released with no cars or tracks, instead expecting us to pay to download every single one of them we want?

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/20/du...ars-or-tracks/ (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/20/dubious-rumor-gran-turismo-hd-to-ship-without-cars-or-tracks/)

Just wanted to know if your cheapasses would ever accept something like this. Horse armor be damned.

great show as always.

Is it hard to find good prices on used games in Japan? I've heard finding good prices is more of a hit or miss, reading an article about buying games in Japan where one week it'll be mega cheap then the next it's mega expensive.

2)Have you ever played plachinko?(Seeing as how you're in Japan and all)

Can either of you get a comment from Nintendo on their DS game buy 2 get 1 free promo in partnership with Best Buy being screwed up so that it really doesn't work? And then can you ask them why it's been screwed up since the deal launched (more than 2 weeks now)?!

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106634

It only works with old titles--not with anything I want. But the terms of ther offer make no stipulations that it should only work with crap I don't want!

See this post for an email I wrote to Nintendo:

Maybe you 'press types' can get satisfaction, where I won't get anywhere. Sorry--I know you're not the Better Business Bureau.

1. If one hearkens back to the legendary thread on CAG about the broken street date on the DS Lite, one has to wonder: will history repeat itself with the Wii? What do you think the likelihood of this happening is?

2. I have my doubts that Cheapy is actually in Japan. One afternoon while walking my dog, I saw an impossibly tall goofy looking bald white guy walking in my neighborhood with a cute asian woman. Is it possible that Cheapy is actually in the Raleigh NC area and claims to be in Japan because he's in witness protection? Of course you'll say no...but...

Historically speaking, videogame systems have launched in North America for less than the converted value of the Japanese launch prices regardless of US dollar strength. For instance the N64 and GCN launched for ¥25000 in Japan and $200 in the US. With the Wii, we are seeing a system selling for ¥25000 in Japan yet again (currently ¥25000=~$214) but being forced to pay $250 over here. Add to this the announced price cut of the PS3 in Japan while no cuts are being made for other territories. Heck, even the 360 costs a lot less in Japan than it does here.

In light of all this, knowing the importance and size of the North American market is now greater than that of Japan, does it appear that the console makers have decided to blatantly milk us for every cent they can get? Yeah, companies are in business to make money but it also seems as if they are trying to push the envelope as far as what they can get away with.

Tell me true, Cheapy and Wombat, should I pre-order a Wii? Will doing so guarantee me a console to call my own or simply afford me the chance to fight over a handful of systems with all the other fanboys who’ve also pre-ordered at my preferred retailer. Am I putting money down on a system or merely on a “place in line?”

We've seen the fanboys duke it out this past generation and we're gearing up to go at it again: what determines who "wins" a generation? The Sony fans claim units sold, the Nintendo fans claim profit (it is interesting to see Nintendo fans take up the Units Sold banner when talking the DS vs. PSP though ;)), and Microsoft fans claim increase in market share from Gen A to Gen B.

So, what's the offical CAGcast measure of how a successful a console is? Profits, Units, or Percentages? Or is it a happy place filled with rainbows where no one wins or loses around here? ;)

I remember watching a review on xplay a while ago about a game called Trackmania Sunrise for the pc. The game looked amazing! Unfortunetly I was never able to get it, but recently I found this link on another forum about a new version called Trackmania Nations that is FREE!

People are able to download the full version of Trackmania Nations for FREE, straight from the developers website.

The really neat thing about this game is how much you can customize it, it allows you to make your own tracks and car skins! Not only that, the graphics are amazing! This game looks like a winner to me, I just wanted to know what Cheapy D and wombat think

Wombat: In your unofficial rant on this week's podcast you came down pretty hard on retro games in the Xbox Live Arcade. Yet in the past you've seemed pretty excited about the games that will be offered through the Virtual Console on the Wii. Is this a double standard based on the quality of the offerings or have you lost interest in the idea of retro games as a whole, regardless of of the system?

Dear, fearless leader (Wombat) and CheapyD
Most likely you have heard about 'Halo wars' the upcoming Halo RTS for the 360 and, I was wondering what your opinions on the Shutdown of halogen are. In case you have no idea what I'm talking about I will explain...
Halogen was a mod for the PC game 'Command and conquer: Generals' that has been in the making for years it seems (I think 2). Just recently they have been shutdown by Microsoft and Bungie due to 'Halo wars' (wow what a name). As I said what are your opinions about it (if any) Personally I think its flipping retarded a game on a separate console being made by Ensemble studios a great company threatened by a MOD made by a few guys in a garage its extortion (...)! ahhhhh....
Thanks for an reply,
Jackson

(Also just to add there are many mods of games that our out thriving about the halo universe that never have been shutdown)

With a very busy holiday season approaching quickly, I was wondering if you guys were planning on reviving the hype wagon to choose the holiday release you'd want to hype up before its release?

I also have another question: If you could have a game made from any movie or tv show that has not gotten the videogame treatment, what would it be? If you have a developer or publisher in mind that you'd want to make that game, who would it be?

If you could have a hidden gem from the current generation get a sequel on one or all of the next-gen consoles, what would it be?

Suggestion for the 50th show coming up.

CheapyD + Wombat

I know you talked about both your wifes being on the Podcast and wondering if we can see that possibly happen for the 50th show. I think it would be fun to hear their thoughts on gaming , such as what would make them more intrested in gaming and do they think the Wii is a start in to the right direction for non gamers. Also what does Mrs. Wombat think of Wombat playing Oblivion so much?

You know, nevermind my last post - I'll just suck it up. It's kinda long, so forgive me that.

First off, a little background to my question:
Last year, on November 18th, someone broke into my house and stole a laptop, my PS2 and over 30 PS2 games. (My mom had just died 10 days earlier, so I had already packed and moved all my other systems. Not-so-coincidentally, the thieves broke in looking for my Xbox360, won from Mountain Dew, which didn't arrive until the next day - in which my car was broken into, but my 360 was already safe at my mom's house. And luckily, they ignored my memory cards. Let's just say I am glad to be out of that neighborhood.)

So, over the past year, in addition to moving, I bought a Slim PS2 and started to rebuild my collection. My top priorities (besides the top tier games) were the Dot Hack games and Beyond Good and Evil. Even though I had beaten them, I wanted them back, as I am more of a collector.

Flash forward to this summer, when I MAJORLY ticked off my "female intimate co-inhabitant." She called me at work, so I could hear the house being wrecked (I have pics...). My PS2 was thrown like a shuriken into the wall, my 360 heaved above her head and spiked onto the floor; pieces of both systems were scattered admist countless sharp thin plastic spikes that had once been my game collection.

I was able to piece together the PS2, resolder the power switch, but now it can only read mem cards; the drive doesn't even spin anymore. My multimeter shows no current coming out of the drive reader; I don't feel like trying to breathe life into the assembly, so I am calling that a loss. However, I was able to reassemble the 360 (the label seal wasn't even broken!) and, once I found the hard drive and cleaned off the soda dumped on it, powered it up - it worked fine! In fact, it has been running fine for months now. (Which made me feel bad for Wombat and all the others with 360 problems, 'cause I know mine can take a beating. I'm still glad it's a pre- Jan 1st unit, though! ;) )

This long-winded story leads me to the question I am now facing for the second time in under a year, and I am now posing to you: What games do you absolutely need in your collection? If all your games disappeared tomorrow, which titles would you immediately cruise Gamestop and eBay to replace? I know Wombat turns games around for credit, but I'm sure he has a couple in the "keep" pile.

For me, I am (for the third time) buying the four Dot Hack games and Beyond Good and Evil. I guess it doesn't matter what system, just in general. Personally, if I lost, say, my PSOne games, I'd hunt down the first Parasite Eve and Final Fantasy Tactics before anything else.

Oh yeah, by the way: The letter X

Store websites seem to be making a lot of pricing errors as of late. Then the smucks don't honor the price unlike B&M stores. Don't you think they'd get more return customers if they honored their pricing errors instead of cancelling them? I know I'd give return business if someone honered their great Xbox 360 deal.

With the strong sales of Dead Rising in Japan, which was the 11th best selling game in Japan for the week of October 1st, how hard do you think Microsoft is going to try to keep it as an Xbox 360 exclusive?

Everyone knows how tough of a fight Microsoft is having to be even relevant over there, so the fact that this is such a hot selling game with so few consoles sold in that country, makes this nothing short of a miracle for Microsoft.

Seems to me, Capcom will take notice of how well it is selling and want to port that over to the PS3 though so they can cash in even more ala Resident Evil 4. Do you think it's worth a large chunk of change for Microsoft to cling for dear life to Dead Rising or is this title going to be forgotten in the next couple of weeks in Japan?

My question is for Wombat:

I've been collecting comics for over 26 years now and I always like hearing you mention about the comic related games you are looking forward to(Marvel Ultimate Alliance)and going to the store. How long have you been collecting? How many would you say you have? How do you store them in NYC? What's your local shop? You should do a CAGCast from NY Comicon 2007. Do you collect Indys or just Marvel/DC?

I see these deals at Play-Asia pretty often and consider getting them (Saint's Row mainly due to BIG ASS CHAAAAAINS)...
Until I then see some warning from somebody saying that it might not work on my 360, or it might not display right or something. I've got a cheap HDTV from costco, and I'm not too interested in ordering a game only to find out it won't run...

Cheapy and Wombat,

Do you think the Microsoft will ever succeed in Japan? I personnally feel no matter what Microsoft does it will fail. I agree with your New York baseball analogy Cheapy but I think there is more to it. I think the Japanese look at Microsoft as big corporate America moving in on an industry that Japan has dominated for years and the only way to protect that industry is to not buy any console that is not Japanese no matter how good or cheap that console is. What do you guys think?

Cheapy and Wombat,
In one of the recent issues of EGM, they had an interview with one of the lead designers of Dead Rising. When they asked him about the small text size on a SDTV, he said "you should really have a HDTV before buying a Xbox 360." Do you agree with him? I think he & his development team were just being lazy about testing the game. And Cheapy, how popular are HDTVs in Japan? Are they cheap & everybody has one, or are they still fairly new and only a fairly small amount of the population has a HDTV?

Hey guys--

I really liked Wombat's incisive question about the Wii and what you'll actually be able to do with SD cards. I have a similar detailed Wii-related question. I grew up gaming on my PC. I like sitting in my confy chair in front of my monitor playing games:

Will there be a first party VGA cable for the Wii?

Indications point to yes, but they are weak:

This wikipedia article:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii
sites this page:http://cube.ign.com/articles/522/522559p2.html

Q: Will Revolution hook up to a television?
A: Yes. It will also be able to interface with a computer monitor. In June 2004 Nintendo engineer Genyo Takeda said: "You'll be able to play [Revolution] not just by linking up to a television but to a computer monitor as well."
The problem is that the article is dated 9/12/05

But there is also this from nintendo.co.jp (horrible English translation provided by google):
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nintendo.co.jp%2Fwii% 2Faccessories%2Findex.html&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&safe=off&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools
Nihongo de for the Japanese proficient:

Notice that the 4th item down (RVL-A-KD)--is that a VGA cable?

Lately I've witnessed a couple of disappearing threads.

One popluar thread centered around obtaining a PS3 reservation. After a hundred or so replies, it got into a debate of the ethics of buying a system just to 'ebay' it. So I checked the politics area. No sign of it... Hmm, where did it go?

Next, I started a thread detailing a way you can get free microsoft marketplace points by signing up for true.com. A number of people got their points, and some are still waiting. But the thread itself disappeared. Many are asking what happened to the thread in this new dialogue:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111332

So why do some threads disappear. If the True.com promotion was not giving out the points anymore, shouldn't the thread be edited to indicate as such? Why leave CAG's out in the cold? Are the Mods just being censor-happy, or just merging threads?

If they are merging threads, then my way of tracking comments isn't working- I click on my name then "Find all Posts by XXX"; my comments are not in my list of posts!

Two more questions: I didn't think you liked the PS3 Cheapy. Why the urge to pre-order? What do you think of people buying the system just to turn around and sell it?

question: so, why are neither of you playing or even talking about Okami?

i mean, seriously, it is quite objectively one of the best games on the PS2, and it's not something you have to push yourself to enjoy or be open to. in my recollection wombat is a big zelda fan, and this is arguably better than any zelda yet (it's not blasphemy, shut your mouth), and in the same vein. it's something i feel gamers owe to themselves and the industry to try, and i'm just curious what about it (outside of not being a 360 game) has steered you away so readily.

I know both of you are guitar hero fans and was wondering if you are going to pick up guitar hero 2 for the ps2 or possibly wait for the 360 version. Do the xbox 360 achievements and possible market place d/l content give you enough reason to wait and re-invest in a new guitar?

Please answer the disappearing thread question .

I've noticed two myself lately , why not just lock them and send them to "limbo or purgatory" like the deal graveyard .
Then they can still be viewed .

Question:

When I click on an Amazon (or any) link from cheapassgamer.com and it takes me to a particular product and I buy it, CheapyD gets a paid, right? I believe the answer is yes.

My follow-up question for the CAGBag is if I click on an Amazon (or any) link on cheapassgamer.com and it takes me to the main page, i.e. www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com), and I browse around and buy something during that session, does CheapyD get paid or does it have to be a direct link to the product?

In that case, since I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon.com, I wouldn't mind getting to Amazon.com via the cheapassgamer.com link if it meant helping CheapyD and the site.

Well, you said last week you'd do my question from last week this week (which I understand if you don't due to the length), so my replacement question (if needed) is: was that Wombat that sent me the 360 friend invite? Even though it said Cagcast, they didn't have all of Oblivion's nerd points, so I just know it can't be Womabt! ;)

Hi Guys,

My 360, which I bought in July, crapped out on me at the beginning of September. I'll skip the rants about a console that breaks two months after purchase (Microsoft was pretty good about replacing the machine). But now that I have my "refurb" console, its working about as well as an old NES. More than 1/2 the time that I try to start the machine it up, it makes weird noises and just stares at me (the 360 start up screen does not load). I have to turn it off, wait a sec, and try again about 3 to 5 times before it finally turns on.

Then, of the times that it turns on, 75% of the time I get a disk read error or a white screen telling me to put the game in a 360 console. I actually have to take the game out, blow on it, put it back in the system, and cross my fingers that it will work!

If the game actually does start, there are a few times when the system will actually crash and I'll lose my progress. Hello Mega Man II?

I enjoy nostaligic gaming as much as anyone else, but come the fuck on!

Have either of you guys had any trouble like this with your 360's? (especially wombat who had his replaced)

Love the podcast, keep up the good work.

I notice you're always saying "tax free" on all the deals you mention on the cagcast and the site. Well, I've been getting taxed up the ass via netflix, overstock, etc. Not only that but I've been told on CAG you're suppose to pay the sales tax every time you do you're yearly taxes. Would you please stop saying the deals are tax free?

I have a question.

I've been thinking about how europe always gets stuff at a later date. I believe that Europe gets stuff later because of Eurpoean warranty laws.

http://www.wragge.com/files/ConsumerGoods_Jan2002.pdf

This is one of the only links I could quickly find dealing with this issue. If this is the case, than that means that the rest of the world is beta testing for Europe.

Here's another quick link:

http://www.cedarrapids.org/_includes/fileblob.asp?I=16&table=content&ext=pdf

I believe it is stating that Europe has a minimum 2 years product warranty on all consumer goods. 2 years is 1 year 9 months longer than what I got with my 360 here in the USA. (right?)

I bring this up because of Sonys delay and the problem with Blue Ray.

Anyone care to comment?

Hey guys:

Love the show.

I'm wondering your opinion on whether the extra time Sony is taking to release the PS3 will be all worth it in the end. As I look back over the last couple of years, I remember everyone being excited that such a powerful machine was being developed. Then as time went on it seemed that more and more people started to hate the thing.

Cheapy, you mentioned that the games you have seen for the PS3 at this time were better than the 360 games were at the same stage of development. Could this be a sign that the PS3 took longer because they were putting a better product out there?

I know it will all be speculation until the thing is actually released and had a few months to get out into the system, but that hasn't stopped anyone from giving their opinions so far.

Thanks for your time. I must be the worst gamer in history. I play N64 games on an emulator hooked up to my tv, and my portable gaming system consists of playing card games on my Treo 650. Pathetic, I know.

Thanks - jj

Ok so I know the 2 of you have tried (Dunno if you bought it yet..) Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. How did ya like it? I know it's the exact same thing as the arcade--But do you think there should of been any special features? Even just the slightest? i.e. being able to unlock Mileena, Classic Sub-Zero, and Ermac AND BEING ABLE TO SAVE THEM!!!! Noob & Rain were hidden characters in the SNES/Genesis versions..so, why would of it been hard to just add them too? And my last question about this: Do you think it's possible for them to say, release an update (most likley for points) with the ability to add the 3 hidden characters (to stay), as well as add Noob and Rain into the game? If so, how much do you think it should cost???

By the way, thanks for going over my question last week. For the record, my wife told our babysitter about the 360, who told her boyfriend who told his friend who was the one who broke in. (He later went to jail for shooting someone.) Wombat, you don't need to feel bad - it was all in perspective anyway, because the break-in happened right after my mom died and no one was hurt in the break-in.

Here's another 50th CAGcast question:

1) What were the top 3 deals to date that came out of CAG forums since the site started?

Here are general questions:

1) What do you think of Sony versus Lik-Sang and other importers?

2) Your opinions on the state of XBL--is MS offering enough content to justify the monthly service fees, do you think they are holding back until the competition gets up to speed, and how to do think they can improve given the upcoming online services from Nintendo and Sony?

You guys have touched on this in the past, but I'm curious about your take on the different pricing strategies employed by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.

Sony, at one end of the spectrum, is sticking with a model from the last two generations, taking a big loss on the console itself and trying to make it up on the software. Online will be free, with some exceptions.

Microsoft adopted a similar strategy (which hasn't paid off for them yet and may not until 2008 by their lastest estimate) but seems to have developed a new stream of revenue in the form of Xbox Live subscriptions and the XBL Marketplace.

Nintendo, conversely, is selling its console at a small profit, but will offer most online services for free. However, they too will have a significant online revenue stream in the Virtual Console.

Which strategy makes the most sense to you? What, in your opinion, are the advantages and disadvantages to each? Do you think selling a console at a loss, while ensuring a lower price initially (debatable with the PS3), ultimately guarantees that the customer is going to get nickled and dimed for everything from there on out, including online services? Would it not make more sense to charge what things cost plus a small margin so that aberrations like online consumables do not become necessary to ensure profitablity?

Answer this question insightfully and they might pay Cheapy next time he's on Bloomberg. ;)

Cheapy and Wombat,

A few shos back you had a discussion on tv shows that should be video games. I had a great idea, how about a G.I. Joe Tactical Shooter Game. It could be on XBL and maybe have 12v12 teams with each person play a different member of G.I. Joe or Cobra with objective based mission. I guess since I have to make this a question... Is this an awesome idea, a lame one or just so-so?

CheapyD,

With the Holiday season rolling around and deals from retailers coming in hoping to entice shoppers to buy at their stores, I wanted to know your stance on CAGs trying to take "advantage" of certain game deals.

Take for instance the two past deals from TRU and BB. In the latter's instance, you could buy any game and get the point cards for $5. It was found that the $5 GOW pre-order could be used that comes with the free shirt. Here's what could be considered "issues": It seems a few users would hoard the pre-orders and point cards and also, there was discussion of shoppers returning these packaged items in order to take advantage of the $5 point cards.

What's your stance on that, especially regarding the deals in which you buy something and get a deal on another item when purchased on the same receipt? Is it the retail store's duty to take care of these loopholes? Or do you feel CAGs should take these deals in the manner they were intended? Or do you not care? Obviously it's hard to control what people do, but I'd hate for CAG to turn into and have the bad rap that FatWallet has at times.

I'm really confused with Sony's pricing of the PS3.

Given that Japan hasn't shown much interest in a Microsoft console, what was the point of having that huge price drop in Japan and nowhere else? It seems like a $50 price drop in the U.S. would have a much bigger effect on the number of people who would want the console.

While I'm at it, will anyone in Japan really pay the $250 price gap between PS3 models to get a lousy WiFi nic and a card reader???

In all of the PS3 coverage online, I hardly ever see mention of the fact that Japan for some reason gets the basic model PS3 (which has all the features I would need) for a whole 80 bucks less than the rest of us.

I have a nutty idea for a future CAG cast, why not have somebody animate the cartoon CheapyD and Wombat in Flash?

The animation should be simple due to just moving the mouth circles and bending the arms and the legs of the two characters. I do have an older form of Flash (came with Studio MX 2004) but I know nothing about animation. If some brave soul in the CAG community knows a bit about animation, I am sure that you have the high quality source files the cartoon Cheapy and Wombat to make it happen.

Hey Cheapy and Wombat, great shows so far, even though sometimes Wombat's mooching can get so annoying to the point that I fast forward a little bit. Anyways are you guys getting as tired as me with all these posts about the price justification of the PS3? Everytime I go to gamespot or even here on CAG I see some posts here and there with people trying to justify the $600 price tag, which to me is just ridiculous. I don't need people who have probably have money flowing out of their ass to show me that the PS3 is worth that amount of money. The price drop in Japan alone is another thing that I would like to vent on but I'll save that for another time. For now I'm fine with my XBOX360 and its OPTIONAL add ons. Maybe a Wii wouldn't hurt also.

Long time listener, first time CAGBagger.

1. who does the graphics for the official CAG icons/logos, such as Cheapy and Wombat's avatars and the logo for the CAGcast?

2. Will we see more traditional-style RPGs coming for the 360? Preferably ones that do not involve prepubescent boy-girl puppy love nonsense.

What does 'traditional-style RPGs' really mean to Wombat and Cheapy? Does it mean JRPG-style? turn-based? I personally prefer the more static, laid back turn-based RPGs ('cause I'm old-school) to more modern hack-n-slash RPGs like Oblivion, Baldur's Gate or Diablo. Where is the Ultima IV and the Fallout of this generation?

3. D&D/Fantasy-theme RPGs, involving mages/magic, elves, dragons, etc, are all the rage. Will there ever be another popular RPG with an alternative themes? Post-Apocalyptic theme (Wasteland, Fallout) have been done and proved that they can also be successful. Any thoughts?

1. I say you have a short segment on Favorite CAG Moments. Definitely, my favorite is the $10,000 shit eating guy (I made my wife listen to that as well as some co-workers).

2. A question: with the console launches around the corner, what's the Japanese vibe on the PS3 and Wii? It seems like here in the US there was a lot of negativity towards it but now I see a lot of a "wait and see" attitude. Similarly with the Wii, there was a lot of hype that seems to have cooled down at least a little.

If you could read it that would be a huge help. Also, I was thinking that if this tourny goes off without a hitch maybe we could have monthly online CAG tournys for a different game every month, or maybe even a game we play every month plus 1 different game a month. I'm not sure if you would want to throw prizes in the mix, that would of course be up to you, but it's just a suggestion.

What titles are you currently reading? Favorite characters/writers/artists? Do you wait for the trades or do you stop by your local store every week? Are there any story arcs that you feel would translate well into video game form?

Great show guys. CheapyD, do you ever feel that the ass in cheapassgamer holds you back at all. Do you feel that legitimate websites/advertising/news venues may be reluctant to plug the website or take you seriously due to the mild profanity. If so have you ever considered changing the name to be more "media friendly" or would you rather keep it and run with it making sites like cheapassbooze.com, cheapasswirelessphones.com, etc.

P.S.
I don't personally have any problem with the name just wanted to know how non-CAGs felt about it.

Wait, I forget (so much buzz on PS3 the last couple of episodes): what Wii games are you folks going to get at launch, and will you be getting any of the VC games immediately to review on the CAGCast as well? I'm most interested in what Cheapy will be getting VC-wise, since Japan will have more titles available initially.

Also for Cheapy, what did you think about the Japan launch of PS3 and the sudden spotlight shone on the secondary game sales market there? Do you think the Japanese media (or the majority of Japanese consumers in general) care about the same kinds of issues we are concerned with as far as the scalping of new consoles?

For Cheapy - (sorry this is kind of long)

This question stems from watching your video review of the Microsoft Wireless 360 Headset, I noticed you seem to have a very nice gaming set up, chiefly the large flat panel HDTV. Besides that, on various CAGCasts, you often mention what games you've recently purchased, Wombat is constantly asking you to purchase games for him, and you seem to talk alot about how much you sit on your cheap ass while your wife works. And now, you possess a PS3. My question is this: Just how loaded are you? Or rather, are you truly a cheap ass gamer? Or are your pockets burning with so much money, everything seems cheap to you?

To either Cheapy or Wombat, I got a question about FPS games. Mrs. Cheapy mentioned that she gets motion sickness when watching them and I know it happens to a lot of people especially in Asia.
As an Asian American myself, why do you think its harder for us to adapt to the fps games? I remember that I couldn't play Halo for more than half an hour before I felt sick. However, Goldeneye never made me dizzy.

Most video game guides are around $14.99 but then drop to a penny, ripped to hell and thrown away. Why can't stores or companies have a universal price drop after its been out awhile to $6.99 or $3.99 and salvage some cash instead of chucking them into the dumpster?

Okay, here's my question... it's about the Xbox Live Arcade.

What would you guys rather see the Xbox Live Arcade doing? Bringing back all of these older classics and ports, like it seems to be doing now... or would you rather have it be a home for new and fresh ideas, like Cloning Clyde, Small Arms, and Roboblitz? Or maybe a balance of both?

I'm personally tired of all of these old rehashed games, like Defender and all that, bring on the Small Arms!

So, in CAGcast #51, Wombat said he played around with face-mapping in Project 8 at some event. I had been following this game, and my bullshit senses started tingling because I had never heard this mentioned anywhere until then. So P8 ships-no camera support. What's the deal? Was this a one-time feature for the event? Should I be anxiously awaiting downloadable camera support? Does Wombat just happen to look like one of the pre-rendered characters?

Episode #52 was a fantastic show for reviewing the PS3 and it brought a couple of things to my attention. Do you feel that Sony is putting out an incomplete/not well thought out product? From the CagCast you pointed out several things
- The controller isn't instinctual when it comes to playing games required to shoot a weapon. (R1/R2 buttons)
- You have to charge the controller before use and the cord provided is extremely short so you have to sit in front of the TV like a two year old or wait.
- Menu system is not impressive
- HDMI issues
- 200 PS2 games won't work!
- Browser is good
I can't get over that fact that Sony would want so much money for an unfinished product. Your thoughts?

With the Wii finally launching this past weekend and Miis being a big feature that goes along with the pack-in Wii Sports, what are the chances that we could see official Wombat and CheapyD Miis being released for CAGs to download and enjoy on their Wiis? All you'd have to do is when you create your own Mii is set the "mingle" option on and those in your friends list would be able to see it in the Mii Parade and put it in on their own Wii to enjoy.

Also, what kind of applications or games would you like to see the Miis be used for? I liked Wombat's suggestion before about getting items for beating games, such as Link's hat for beating Twilight Princess.

What kinds of Channels would you like Nintendo to offer for free or at a price to download in the future from the Wii Shop?

Okay, I'm not really into the whole FPS genre, and it was amusing for half a second to see 75% of my friends list playing GoW, but now I'm starting to catch flak from them.

I've got a bit of an odd idea. How about a special segment highlighting a user's tradelist? In exchange for free advertising for the user, the CagCast can attract non-registered users to the site for the purpose of trading, and the hosts can dissect the list for the purpose of humor/comedic relief.

Also, the rant about a “common sense manager” is a classic. However, don’t think that gaming corporations are the only ones that need one. However, bureaucratic organizational structure and common sense never mix. I guess it’s growing pains of the market.. in three decades, we’ve gone from a niche field to a business of billions. What was once accomplished by five guys with long beards and computer science degrees on a budget of a few thousand is now accomplished by hundreds of people with budgets of millions.

Kidding.. I think they fight sometimes to stay within the time constraint. Eventually, it may end up being 2 shows a week sometime in the future. The content and subject matter is there, and I'm sure demand is there. That's the funny attraction about the show: it keeps your attention, and doesn't feel long or drawn out. Hell, I'll put it on my Zen, leave my desk, and listen to it while I take a slam or smoke break. It's better than listen to the whiny ass coworkers gossip or argue about what they want for lunch. A thanksgiving question or two.

What are you most thankful for this year in you life (non game related I hope)

but also what-in the gaming realm- are you most thankful for this year?

(I posted the below query in the forums but thought it would be good in the cagbag as well)

With the launch of the Xbox LIve TV download starting tomorrow (or whatever the official title is called) will that aid in neither HD-DVD or Blue Ray from becoming industry standard? The live download isn't exactly video on demand as one, at this point, would need to plan their downloads ahead, but we know that DSL speeds increase as will Hard Drive capacit

Cheappy, I have a solution to your leg sleeping problem. I also had a problem with lengthy playtime sessions in the "lounge". The reason is that people tend to lean forward when playing on the throne, putting pressure on the femoral artery which causes reduced bloodflow to the legs. Taller people have a more lengthy lower leg which exacerbates this effect. The solution is to buy a riser seat that raises the overall height about 2-3 inches. This lowers the acuteness of the angle one makes when leaning and increases bloodflow to the affected area. You can usually find one at a medical supply center or orthopedic specialty outlet.

Now my question:

I heard you mention a year ago that if we see the same games with just prettier graphics for an extra $10, people might be disappointed with the next generation of games. What's your opinion a year after the 360's release? Are you satisfied with the quality and quantity of content in this next generation of games as being sufficient justification for the jump to $60? Have you found a "leap" of gameplay depth in addition to graphical output or does this new generation still leave something to be desired?

Hi Cheapy,

I recently read that microsoft is apparently going to start cracking down (read: screwing) gamers with xbox live accounts registered outside their own regions. With the video marketplace now available I'm sure it has to do with microsoft trying to attract other content owners to the service, but how will it affect users that have a right to have accounts out of their region?

Take for example myself, I bought my 360 when I was living in Singapore so it is (NTSC-J) but I have since moved to New York. I changed the region of my original xbox live account but it is still tied to Singapore so I couldn't access the US-specific content which lead me to create a second US account which I only use to download demos and now one movie.

What are your feelings on this and what do you think Microsoft is going to do?

I posted this in the general discussion thread, but I think it belongs here:

During the last show, your debate on the XBox Live movie/TV download service was pretty intense (and hilarious to boot), and although I can see both sides of the issue, I think Wombat won. One point you forgot to mention is that Microsoft also just released an HD-DVD drive for the 360. Wouldn't this kind of cannibalize on their download service, or vice versa? Is it wrong to say that digital distribution is the future while at the same time releasing an optical media drive? Seems pretty pointless to me.

I'd just like to say purchasing a PS3 was necessary, and a great move, for CheapyD. He's been obviously very biased against the system, and Wombat is clearly extremely subjective in his opinions. Every single time CheapyD voiced an opinion that wasn't entirely anti-sony, Wombat charictarized CheapyD as being "defensive". Jealous much? Owning a PS3 was very necessary to keep your podcast objective. I understand Wombat is ultra-negative towards any system not released by Nintendo, but the Sony bashing in particular was close to getting out of hand.

And a question for CheapyD: I got the feeling Mrs Cheapy is biased in favor of the PS3. How does she feel about it now that you own it?

How about making a backup cagcast next time you guys arent having one? Perhaps a shorter one with a single topic you guys could knock out quickly?

Question: What are your thoughts on the price of downloadable shows off the 360 marketplace?

I noticed that episodes of Space Ghost C2C and Robot Chicken (which are 10ish min in length) are the same price as a full episode of Star Trek or other TV shows. Star Trek is 50 min in length btw. Spongebob is around 30 min in length. New movie rentals on there are also suer expensive. Blockbuster, which I believe is cheaper for a rental, and therefore the better deal, there are no actual movie packages, no shelfspace, and nobody to pay for checking the movie out at the store.

I think all content on the 360 is way overpriced. Not to mention takes forever to download. Perhaps Microsoft needs a subscription service or cheaper shows. I subscribe to Netflix and dont have cable tv (yes I am an anomoly, currently games eat up all my free time) but I would consider a subscription service based upon bandwidth per month.

Any thoughts on this?

I also think Itunes is expensive as well. Perhaps I wouldnt have the same issue I do now with price if Netflix weren't around.

Cheapy and Wombat-
Historicall, video game reviewers have rated games in several areas such as graphics, sound, gameplay, etc. Every time a really great game comes along, the bar gets raised in one of these areas. For instance, now that we've played Gears of War it is perfectly legitimate for future 360 games to get a slightly lower graphics score if they do not reach the bar that Gears has set.

My question is why hasn't this happened with multi-player game components of games - specifically to the matchmaking functions? Halo 2 raised the bar 2 years ago with a party system and great matchmaking functions. Skip to today, and games like Gears and RS:Vegas are getting 9 and 10 reviews even though there is no easy way to play ranked games as a team in these team based titles. I know Epic blamed MS for this, but I've read that Shadowrun is copying Halo 2 and Bungie themselves has said it can still be done if the developer puts the time and money into it. I think it's time that reviewers start knocking their game scores for multi-player titles that don't go the extra mile to give gamers a functional way to play the game. What do you think?

Are you guys at all concerned about the negative effect the success of the Wii can have on gaming? I understand that the Wii is big on gameplay over graphics, and that seems to be the rage right now. However, if the Wii outsells the PS3 and Xbox360, do you forsee Microsoft and Sony forgoing improved, expensive hardware in next gen systems to instead make a cheaper system for a quick profit? I worry that the Wii could actually cause a degeneration in graphics...

I originally posted this in "YMIJ", but I figured I would post it here also...

Cheapy...

I was wondering if there is anything like the ESRB game ratings in Japan. Do they in any way mark the games as being for a mature audience, or as being appropriate for the entire family, or teens, etc?

If they don’t have anything like that over there, I guess they figure that the people in Japan are a bit more "capable" of separating games from reality, or just the ability of actually point the finger of blame where it really belongs. What do you think?

I, much like most of the gaming populace, believe that it’s the parents that need to police the exposure of content to children, versus it being a public ordeal... Unfortunately, I think the responsibility will eventually fall to the console manufacturers to block the contact from children as a lot of parents are obviously inept to do so. I think the simplest solution would be to have the console only allow up to teen rated games played on the console until the mature content is unlocked, informing the "unlocker" what content might be encountered in the game after it has been unlocked.

The only other thing I can think of is having the game packaging covered with a black removable cover, showing the name of the game, and what content is in the game... this way it looks like a playboy or penthouse when it comes through the mail.

Unfortunately, because many American citizens would rather bitch and point a finger at someone else, rather than learn and look at themselves, it looks like the only solution is to cripple the masses in order to appease the bull-headed and unable.

What do you think?

I mean, HD DVD is vastly superior to Blu Ray in terms of picture quality and price, and there are better movies, movies that people actually give a shit about on HD DVD. Not to mention the fact that 95% of people will not make a switch to one or the other for at least 5-7 years, and by that time, digital distribution will be in effect if not surpassing physical storage for media. Playstation 3 is turning people off to BRD because of the high price point- thats a huge barrier to entry, and 360's add-on for HD-DVD is clutter and really unnessecary unless you have to have every piece of tech right out of the gate, not to mention the fact that we the consumer are getting the burn when we buy this shit. Look at PS3, 1 month old, and already its had more updates and patches thean 360 had all through its launch period. No upscaling for movies, and its not even perfect in 1080p,so who cares about what you ahoul use? What do you think?

Cheapy and Wombat, it’s abundantly clear that the 360, PS3, and Wii all have distinct strengths and weaknesses. If you were to cobble the best aspects from all three consoles together into the perfect next-gen gaming machine, which components or concepts would you choose from each system and what makes these superior to those of the competition. Better yet, what would you name this Frankenstein’s monster?

Hey guys,

Quick question for you both. Do you think that gamers (at least, on the internet) take their games too personally? In normal circumstances I don't seem people berating someone for choosing Coke over Pepsi, or ordering the lasagna over spaghetti, but it seems like anyone who states his or her opinion on a game, system, company, whatever, gets torn to shreds. As if there were some objective rule book to liking games that if you don't abide by, you are clearly wrong.

This was brought up strongly in my mind when a few shows back someone asked something implying that Mrs. Cheapy was a Sony fanboy (fanwoman?). I almost choked on my water when I heard that. It seems as if it's gotten to the point on the internet where anyone who disagrees with you is obviously a tool of the corporation you don't support. Just curious on your thoughts.

Great show guys.

I've been listening to the CagCast for a while now, my iPod's storgae space is pretty much taken up soley by Cagcasts!

Though I have been listening for a while, I'm afraid to say I do not frequent the site that often. In fact I just had to create a new profile- it seems my old one was deleted (which is why I now have 1 or 2 posts on this profile- I'm not a total 'noob' though!)
BUT I have a valid reason for not posting much on the site- I live in the UK, and was directed to your lovely site by my friends over at SegaNerds -graveaddiction (aka Wivil) and Psyclerk in particular. But CheapAss Gamer is pretty much directed towards the US audience, as none of the deals posted up would apply to me I do not post much.

So here comes one of my questions;

-Have you ever considered branching the site out or creating sister sites- that focus on deals from other major gaming countries? In particular Britian and Japan.
From what I gather, even though Britian is a relatively small population compared to the US, we are still quite big in the gaming scene. And it would certainly be handy to have a site like CAG for us foreigners ;)

Question two:
In a more recent CagCast you guys were talking about the Wii and the pros and cons.
You guys mentioned how having Wireless only connection for the Wii is more of a pain than a help and it would have been easier to have a wired connection like the 360.
I disagree. Sure its a pain if your router doesn't support wireless. But over here, at least, Wireless routers are easier to buy than wired ones. Most Internet providers now give away wireless routers in their packages or offer them for a marginal extra cost.
It seems to be that companies are going for a 'wireless future' and I think will soon be the norm.
-So surely Nintendo are just looking to the future with the Wii? Imagine in about 4 years if everybody had wireless routers and the Wii was wired? People would be complaining that Nintendo hadn't predicted this change.

-I'm glad they had it wireless, because my router supports wired lan connections- but all my slots are full up- from various PCs and my 360- so connectiong my Wii was damn easy.
-I know you mentioned that you had to change a load of settings for your router to get it to work with the Wii - what kind of router are you using? Because I literally turned my Wii on and it connected - so for me it felt as though Nintendo had kept with the idea of keeping the Wii simple to use. And if other people have the same experience as me, then surely it would be mission accomplished for Nintendo?

-Thanks for such a great podcast guys, it really keeps me sane at work, and I can quite happily listen to shows more than once- the sign of true entertainment! :D

So I have a PS3 and a 360, and I am wondering about the Wii. When I first saw the DS I thought that it was pathetic, then I bought it and hated it (ya I am an idiot). I love both the PS3 and 360 and am wondering if I should get a Wii. Every game that I have seen for the Wii seems like DS games on a bigger screen. Your thoughts?

Cheapy and Wombat,

Because the two main competitors in this console war are the 360 and PS3, and each one is supporting an opposing HD format, if one becomes the absolute winner in this generation’s life, do you see the possibilities for a possible accessory?

To better explain this question…

If HD-DVD becomes the dominant format, do you think Sony will swallow their pride and possibly release a HD-DVD assessory for their console?

If Blu-Ray comes out on top, do you see Microsoft releasing a USB accessory to play BR disks on the 360?

If asked this a few different places, and I was just curious what you guys think about this.

Keep on KAGcast’n guys… they keep getting better and better.

I have been interested in blue dragon from a distance for a while now. I think the game was long overdue for the 360 and its great to finally get some japanese games for it. Having been released in japan now you get news of sales figures for it.
But I was hoping that CheapyD could try and play the game and give us an idea what its like to play.

Hey Guys,
Great show. Now that the holiday frenzy is over, what do you think will happen with console prices and availability. Some CAGers in the Wii forum have been speculating that the Wii will drop in price within the year, as what happened with the GameCube. Some are speculating that with a drop in price, Wii Sports may not be included with the console (as in Japan, right?). I tend to think that the Wii will not drop in price unless the shelves become glutted with systems.
On the other hand, do you think Microsoft will, with the new 65 nm CPU and the cheaper manufacturing costs of the cooler XBox 360, pass the savings on to the consumers (or do they have a lot of coffins to pay for)?
What about the PS3? How much of a debacle has the holiday season been for Sony? Will they be able to compete with the Wii or the 360? OUCH.
Thanks!

So obviously you want more users on the site to boost popularity, traffic, and money for CAG. However, CAG isn't a site that every CAGer would like to spread the word due to the fact that it would lower their chance of getting cheap stuff around their area (from hoarders for example). What's your view on this?

Edit the question anyway you'd like to make it more understandable since I'm about to fall asleep.

Does oblivion really hold up to these games?

Cheapy, I think you are on to something here. In the last cast you mentioned how you don't like to assign games a numbered score, and I've noticed when you finish your reviews, you say a game is "easy to recommend" or "difficult to recommend." Rather than focusing on a single number that represents graphics, gameplay, presentation, and other aspects of a game, would you instead say that a game should be rated based on how easily recommendable it is? For example, the best games would have a rating of "Very Easily Recommended," while the worst games would receive a rating of "Absolutely Not Recommended." If CAG were to have a dedicated reviews section, can you see using this type of ratings system?

Ok, some New Year's questions for the first Cagcast of the New Year:

1) What are your gaming-related Resolutions?
2) What upcoming releases are you looking forward to playing in the first half of 2007?
3) What do you predict will be the biggest gaming news stories of 2007?

And some general discussion questions:

1) Are either of you going to get the HD-DVD add-on for 360? And, if not:
2) Blu-Ray or HD-DVD?
and finally a bonus question for Cheapy--do you have any Blu-Ray movies yet, and how are Blu-Ray movies selling in Japan?

CheapyD,

From what I've read/heard, it is common (or at least not unheard of) in Japan for a gamer to buy a system just to play one game, only to sell it back after they finish it.

Have you noticed any of this happening with the recent release of Blue Dragon? I imagine the game sold a good amount of 360s in Japan, but I wonder how many were sold to a game shop right after completing the game.

CheapyD recently made a solid point when he opined that Brian Crecente's "review" of Motorstorm was less stringent based on the fact that Brian did not pay for the game. My question is this, with retail costs on the rise should game reviewers start purchasing the games they review to provide a more "accurate" assessment of a games value to consumers? (If I recall correctly, Consumer Reports magazine has been doing this for years.)

I'm pretty sure this is a non-question and someone trying to be cute, but I'll bite.

Shaq-Fu was the name of a very poor fighting game for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo made by EA in 1994. It featured pro athlete Shaquille O'Neal doing battle with characters from ancient Egypt. The Genesis version also came with part of Shaq's rap album making it perhaps the most toxic substance on Earth.

With the releases of the next gen systems, how often are you guys finding yourselves playing your older systems? Seeing as the 360 isn't fully BC, The Wii VC titles are somewhat expensive, and the PS2 games don't look too pretty in HD, do you find yourself unplugging your next gen systems and going old school? I have some recent concerns about the Podcast. I am fairly new to the site and have been listening to the Podcast since the PS3's release. CheapyD's criticism of the PS3 has become unbearable in CAGcast #57. I have found you ranting and raving about the 360 time and again. I hold your opinion at high standards and have started thinking about getting One for myself from your comments. However the review on PS3's free grand Turismo game graphics did not hold up. Though the game is not very exciting without other cars to race with, the replay and in game graphics are hard to surpass. Hearing this innaccurate review has tarnished your reputation of all consoles in my mind. Please be aware that there are good things about the PS3 which you have not ever mentioned a positive thing about it since it's release. Please stop stomping on One Console and gloriying the rest. Thanks for a place where gamers can gather.

I discovered cheapassgamer.com a few years ago and immediately was hooked by all the great video game deals included on the front page and in the forums. I enjoyed getting games for 50-80% less than retail and now have amassed a collection that makes my wife roll her eyes.

Here is my question: It seems like with the next-gen console releases, the "deals" I jump on don't seem as incredible as they once were. Being able to snag a $59.99 360 game for a mere $39.99 is sometimes enough to make me jump in the car and head down to the local Best Buy. Do you think the cheapassgamer community at-large has loosened its collective wallet in the midst of all the next-gen hype? From listening to the Cagcast, I know you, Cheapy, have spent quite a bit of money in the last year keeping up with the systems — 360, PS3. And you even admitted to paying above retail for your Wii. You mentioned on a previous CAGcast that you've run into quite a lot of Engrish since you've moved to Japan. I think at this point the phenomenon is relatively well known (with Engrish.com and all), so why does it continue show up? Are the Japanese not aware of the issue or do they get a kick out of it too?

I would think this problem could turn out to be a good job opportunity for a native English speaker in Japan, English Sanity Checker. The job would consist of simply reading English translations on signs and packaging and giving a thumbs up or thumbs down and best of all, it could be done from the comfort of home. Whattia think? A little supplementary income and a few laughs...

Edit: Never mind... I just read the faq at Engrish.com They explain the reasons and apparently there are English consultants.

First let me say I love the CAGCast more each time I listen to it.

Now I think what you didn't say or didn't take into account when you and Wombat talked about Zelda is different people like different genres of video games.

I for instance don't like shooters that much. I think the games are good and kind of fun to play but I don't think there great. I've played GRAW, Rainbow 6, Gears of War, Resistance, etc... as I am an avid gamer with lots of friends who are the same.

I play most games but the games I like the most are Adventure, Strategy, RPG generally story driven games with lots of exploration and things to do.

I didn't think Resident Evil 4, GRAW, Gears of War, Rainbow 6, and games like that in general are above an 8 at extreme best. Thats me though.

I think Zelda is fun because it mixes genres and appeals to lots of people. Adventure, Puzzle, Action, Dungeon Crawler, Flight elements with that dragon thing, and RPG. A number of people who like all kinds of different games are fans of Zelda and love it.

Now as a PC gamer I know lots of people who think Halo and Halo 2 are average FPS at best. And thats them being nice. Does that mean people who gave Halo and Halo 2 9's and 10's are crazy fanboys. No of course not.

It's not that Zelda TP is the best game ever. Its that so many people who are fanboys of this game are people who love all kinds of different genres as well. Except for fans of shooter games or games where the story is skipable or unimportant. People like that I just don't understand.

In the end I think its that people play games for different reasons. I personally think theres to much to do in Elder Scrolls: Oblivian and it detracts from the game as it can be hard to find or get to the parts of the game that I like. I've played the series since Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall. And I think the game also is to much of the same. Except for better graphics and a few small additions its the same game as all the previous ones.

I think so many people expected Zelda to be the Best Game Ever that it hurt the game a lot.

Can you contact me? I'd like to be on the next CAGCast or something. I think I have a bit to contribute.

To Wombat.

I remember you saying in a much earlier CAGCast that you play the guitar. What type of music do you enjoy playing? And what is your favorite song to play?

I know you guys mostly do console gaming. But I wanted to ask about the PC realm. Do you guys think that with Microsoft pushing the "Games for Windows" and the fact that the PC is going to have DX10 with Vista will help to revive PC gaming out of it lull (besides MMOs) during the next generation or do you think that PC Gaming will remain more of a niche market?

And just to add to my previous post. LIVE Everywhere. I think that could get huge. What do you guys think? the XBLA has been extremely successful on the 360 among people that are already into games. Do you think that Microsoft will be able to convince the average PC to play more than just Solitaire with the arcade games?

here's a Gears of War question.

who is really to blame for the online ranked versus mess? Microsoft or Epic. naturally, Microsoft blames Epic and Epic blames Microsoft. I can sort of see both sides, but Halo 2 has decent matchmaking, why is Gears so jacked up?

Cheapy, I know Japan shows movies that were popular in the USA and I wonder if they showed Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan?

Wombat, did you see Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan when it was out in the theaters as well?

The character actor, Sasha Baron Cohen uses his alter ego Borat Sagdiyev to able to expose people's prejudices and vulnerabilities while claiming to be a telejournalist from Kazakhstan. The humor is not the character's bigoted jokes but the concept behind prejudice creates the amazing ironic humor while the people being interviewed not understand the irony.

Besides, I saw Sasha Baron Cohen accept a golden globe while talking about a scene in the movie and how he risked his life in that scene. I just hope people learned the message about how being prejudiced makes you look like an ass in the end of the day.

I regret this cagbag was a little to long but good luck to the Cagcast and thank you for responding to my previous Tekken question.

CheapyD and Wombat:

Have either of you ever gotten into a game SO MUCH that you neglected your bathroom duties until you had an unfortunate accident?

This question is COMPLETELY hypothetical, as I have never, ever, in my younger years played Turok 2 on N64 while holding back a huge loaf by sitting in a kneeling postition with my anus pressed directly on my heel, until (the pressure becoming more than I can bear) I stand up to run to the bathroom upstairs, and realize I have no more buttock strength, finding my underwear filling up with a very unwelcome brown substance, now finding myself needing a shower rather than a toilet.

Guys,

I heard you mention the ridiculous fee that Nintendo charges for downloading games via the Virtual Console, but you made no argument against the often equally exorbitant prices of some Microsoft titles from the Live Arcade. $10 for titles like "Heavy Weapon" and "Assault Heroes" (which, by the way can't even be played co-op over Live so Microsoft actually makes $20 in that regard)?! What gives, man? If Burger King can market games that cost a mere $3.99, and come with an actual case and (I'm assuming) instruction guides, then why the hell can't Nintendo and Microsoft lower their pricing strategies for games developed by smaller studios?

Do you think that any Marketplace content will ever go down in price? I'm personally boycotting any content in the hopes that price reductions do occur, but I feel that I'm setting myself up for disappointment. With lower pricing, it would seem that more people would be willing to pony up for this content.

Guys,

EGM just published their issue "2007 - Best Year Ever". Which upcoming game releases are you most looking forward to in '07?

Hello gentlemen,

I was drawn today to www.benheck.com to check out his recent NES controller/system. It's pretty impressive. Anyway, it led me to a discovery to his own podcast that he has on his site (2nd article from the top for links to his latest one). His latest podcast talks about his impressions of all three next gen consoles. Of course, I was interested obviously, so I listened to the whole thing. Personally, I was a little bit surprised because I feel like there was a good amount of biased opinions and/or lack of exposure to some of the systems. I could be wrong, of course, and it could have been my own bias. I was wondering what you guys think of it overall. Or rather, to put it in question form: What do you guys think of it? (note: it will take about an hour of time investment, understandably, it would be easier for Cheapy to check out it than Wombat. But I'm sure both of you and perhaps the rest of CAG would be interested in hearing it for comparison.)

Thanks in advance!
