Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a good portable media player? One that has at least a few gigs of storage, and can play movies, mp3s, view pictures and so on. There's a Creative one for $184 after rebate (Retail $500), but I wanted to see if there were any opinions on that or better ones.
Thanks!

I really like the gmini402. I like the layout of it, its horizontal and looks like a GBA micro, so it is ideal for playing games. Right now, I heard some people are working on a game gear and sega master system emulator for it. The older model (gmini400) already has working emulators. You can learn more about it at www.gmini400.com

I'm not really a fan of ipods but the new video one is actually a good deal. Plays video, has 30GB, I believe its a little thinner than the current 20GB ipods and more battery life.

EDIT: what is the creative one you are talking about and where can you buy it that cheap? I am also looking to buy a Portable Media Player. Iam seriously considering the gmini because of its size and price but I still want to look around.

It's this awesome deal I found on dealcatcher. It's the Creative Labs Zen Portable Media Player. $500 - 65 instant savings - 250 rebate.
I'm seriously thinking of getting it. Some people have been telling me to go for the PSP, which lets you play music, video, and of course games, but I'm not too certain on how that works, what with the hacks and memory sticks and that business.

that is a pretty good deal. looks a little big for me but a great deal if size isn't an issue. This looks like it has all the features of the gmini I recommended but better battery life.

Also, the PSP isn't that great if you are mainly looking for a video/music player. It's great if you are primarily using it for gaming. It is $250 but only comes with a 32MB memory stick, which won't hold much music/video. You would need at least 1GB stick (which would run you about $70). I think the highest memory you can use with PSP is 4GB and that is I believe a little more than $150. The screen on the PSP is very nice but it isn't worth the money if you are mainly looking for a music/video device. The creative player you were looking at is almost $100 cheaper and comes with 20GB.

EDIT: woah, time paradox. answered before you asked it.
