Looks like The Associated Press is using Video Games to sell stories, even when they have nothing to do with incident. I mean really this just sad pandering, to a media unsavvy public.
in other words, GRRRRRRRRRR

I'm just waiting for the Jack Thompson follow up stating that the killers used GTA as a training tool... Stupid fucking moron.

If the victim was watching CNN, do you think the headline would have read:
Buffalo Teen Shot In Head While Watching TV
No way.

and what the hell does the fact that the VICTIM was playing video games have any relevance at all. why does it have to be included in the title no less. it'd make at least some sense if the shooters said they played GTA before doing a driveby

We gamers need to orchestrate some sort of national march/day/speech or something soon. I can only take so much bs before I feel the need to try something drastic.

Wow, that was entirely irrelevant.
It could have been Kid shot in head while jacking off for all that it mattered in the situation. Maybe if the kid was playing RE4 and then plagas exploded out of his head and killed the drive-by shooter, then and only then would it be applicable to mention the fact he was playing a video game.

Jam Master Jay was playing games when he was shot, IIRC. It was mentioned (or else I wouldn't have known that), but it was entirely irrelevant to the act of murder.

The kid didn't die so video games might have saved his life. If he had been outside playing when this drive-by occured, I would think the chance of fatality would have been much higher.
In fact, this is the second recent case that someone has gotten shot in the head while playing video games and lived. I wonder how other activities that are being performed while getting shot in the head stack up against those stats?

Buffalo Teen Shot In Head While Watching TV No way.
YES of course. I've seen *lots* of headlines that read "Woman shot while watching tv" or "Man shot while cleaning garage" and so on.
You guys are making an issue out of this "...while playing game", where none exists.

I know for a fact that videogames cause violent behaviour in children. Do you have any idea of how many controllers and game carts I smashed to bits as a youth? PLENTY! ;)
The "playing video games" part of the article is there to emphasize that the kid was inside his house when he got hit by a drive-by shooting. Yes, I do believe if the kid was watching TV, doing the dishes, etc. the article would have stated that instead.

BINGO. It's not anti-gaming. The article is just telling us what the kid was doing. If he had been watching tv, it would have said, "teen shot while watching tv"

I seriously doubt this would have even been reported if he had been reading War and Peace.

If his fat-ass were outside jogging when the drive-by occured he could've artfully dodged every bullet with his athletic grace, but instead he pussied out and sat inside playing videogames.

maybe he was shot in the head in the video game and the reporters were just desperate for a story :)
