Anybody got the game today? Just picked up the collector's edition at my local Gamestop (I was the only person who preordered the game, regular and collector's). I've been trying to install it and keep getting an error message at the end. Hopefully I can fix it and play the game later today. Loved the demo and I'm sure the real game will be even better.

Cool, I had to go to class so my bro tried to reinstall it and it works now. Only thing is that he has to do HW on the computer so I cant play it!!! :bomb:

I'll probably post some impressions of it later tonight.

Seems like it was a bigger problem then I expected. Glad I made that topic over at gamefaqs.

Anyways, the game is pretty good. I love the graphics and the gameplay is still essentially the same except the enemy AI does seem a little smarter. I only played the first 2 levels so I'll post more when I get a chance.

Ugh I got the same error on disc 6. :(
I don't suppose you could let out the secret your brother used to get a good install?

No secret, he just restarted his computer and reinstalled the game and it worked. Seems that the cd version is the ones that are giving the problems but some dvd versions are also having the problem.

yea, my problem is that it wont play the intro stuff, and when i re-installed it, it didnt even ask me to install direct x

also when i download direct x from a site, i install it, it doesnt show an installing screen or anything like that, so i just want to know whats wrong(i also have it on optimal settings)

Wow, are you serious? I thought that all FPS's were supposed to use ragdoll's by now :(

Since when have ragdoll physics been a selling point to a game? Hell, most of the first person shooters Ive played with ragdolls have had either odd, unnatural or comical implementations of them - and that wouldnt be appropriate for this time of game.

So does this game build on CoD or is it just CoD with better graphics? Any gameplay changes?

And I don't think ragdoll makes or breaks a game, but by now I guess it's to be expected from "next-gen" action games.

I think I'll get the 360 version. I don't like to deal with buggy games on the PC.

was planning on picking this up immediately, but im still only halfway through quake 4 and barely even started playing FEAR. this one can wait for a sale or at least when the bugs get fixed.
