I checked Walmart, and Best Buy yesterday. They were empty. But... for the 360 launch it was crazy. So it will be crazy again I expect.

Checked CC and BB in Gaithersburg, both have lines already. BB Gaithersburg even has like 3 tents set up by people waiting in line.

FYI, I talked to the manager at BB Rockville and he told me they are removing people who are lining up for PS3 until 24 hrs prior to release. They are releasing it Friday at 8am. So that means you can line up starting at 8am on Thursday for PS3. Good luck for those on the hunt for PS3!

I was curious about the Sony Style store in Tyson's too so I stopped by today. The guy said they took no pre-orders and would be selling PS3s, but wouldn't tell me how many they had. Obviously no campers directly outside the store in the mall. I didn't see any tents outside this afternoon, but I didn't do a full lap of the mall. It's probably as good as place as any to painlessly get a PS3 since I doubt too many people have thought of it. And for those who forget where it is in the mall it's on the second floor near the new wing with the AMC theater.

Drove to the Frederick Target, and there weren't but 20 people there...but at that point in the morning, I was pretty burnt out from seeing the lines everywhere. I really wish that Sony just should these suckers for $1000 and gave the extra $400 away to charity. This would have lessened the lines some....and allowed gamers to get their hands on some of these units.

Sorry, spoke to soon. Apparently my brother misspoke. The mall had set up about 7 kiosks running the Wii and various games. And there was a line for the Gamestop/EB that was running all the way around the mall. He didn't want to wait, so there may indeed be 100+ Wiis there. I heard that the CC Rockville only got 30 of the 100(?) PS3's it was advertising. Heard second hand so I don't know how true but I was under the impression they were giving away 50 for sure to the first 50 in line and then 50 more through out the night through raffling. i got the crazyest wii story. i got out a little before 7 went to target first just find out that they had gave out all their tickets. From there i went to the rockville cc and they only had 19 units and the people outside had made tickets out of cardboard pizza boxes. from there i went to best buy and the line was way way way too long. I knew that they were going to be opened from 9pm until Midnight so I thought that I could breeze into this empty store and pick up a couple of things before the rush tomorrow. When I arrived there right at 9pm, there was a line about 400-500 (yes, hundred) people long waiting to get in. If you've been to that CompUSA, the line was wrapped around the strip mall all the way around the corner on both sides.

Needless to say, I just kept driving and left.

Was CompUSA offering something THAT good or is it just that they're the only store open at this time?

Almost word for word my experience in Columbia. It looked like a George Romero movie. I went back to my mom's house and had more mashed potatoes.

Just got back from BF around the Wheaton, MD area with my brother. Went to CompUSA in Rockville, MD first and it was pretty crowded. Seemed like everyone was looking for the same deals (TV's, PC stuff). There were really no game deals. They had a managers sale which was 2- $15 games for $25 and 2-$30 games for $50. BB was jammed, line went almost to the back of the store. CC was crowded, but if you go to the back of the store there are lines that are shorter and easier to get through. CC had plenty of 360 and ps2/xbox games left. Target was pretty calm. They had some great TV DVD deals (all seasons of 24- $16, Seinfeld 1-6- $20). GS had sold all of their Wii's in 20 minutes the employee said.

Overall, it was pretty crazy around, it seemed to be dying down as time went on.

I got one at the Target multi-level in rockville. Its kind of hidden away but there were a good size line going. I was 17 out of 37 systems. The people in front of me had already asked the workers the day before and they said they told them there were 41 systems, no idea what happened to those other 4. I Showed up at 4AMish after partying all night and morning, they gave out tickets at 7, let us in shortly after that. Not sure if any of the people I was talking to in line are on CAG but "hey" if you are, I was the guy wanting to get a multiplayer gamer of Mario Kart DS going but no one had a DS except some kid who insisted on playing Final Fantasy III DS (and some other hyper 11 year old). I've did the updates and Mii channel and have been playing Zelda the past 3 hours, it was worth the wait in line. I wasn't going to miss out again so I showed up early to make sure of that, I'm glad I did :).

When I went into the store, they all acted like the PS3s were coming out of their pockets. They were all so slow to sell them. I just didn't get it. I would ask, and then they would all look around...saying "do we have any Ps3s"? Then the manager would come over, and the size me up. Then the manager would feign ignorance...I would continue to ask if they would be 60s or 20s, and then with a great deal of huffing and puffing, they would pull up onto the counter from behind the counter. It was all very weird. I hated the experience.
Maybe they were worried about being robbed if they were too prominent? :lol: The amount of violence caused by people desperate to get a PS3 has been absurd (or people out for a quick profit).

Nah your crazy. 100 times easier to snag a wii, you have just had bad luck. All of my friends who have actualy wanted one ether got one at launch or went early to Circuit City and snaged one. The PS3 is just nuts, you cant get your hands on one for less then 1k (or some crazy in store luck)

Concur about PS3 being more elusive. There seem to be more regular shipments of the Wii and stores are able to advertise in advance on the Wii. Not the case for PS3. Every shipment of PS3 seems to be a well kept secret even to the stores receiving the shipment.

I heard a story on CNN this morning about cops in NY being placed on probation for abusing their authority in order to get a PS3. Apparently on Nov 17, they used their badges to go to the front of the line at a Sony Style store to get a PS3. Crazy.

The Gaithersburg Target will have PS3's on 12/10 in the morning right as they open. Dont know how many but i can bet they will go fast as iTracker is becomming more popular. The Wii has been more rare nowadays which is odd but shipments are still comming in (the EB games in Montgomery Mall had Wii's in yesterday but i was too late to post it) I'll try and keep this thread updated for PS3's and Wii's if i notice something on iTracker.

My advice w/ iTracker is to check around 10pm to see if any inventories were recently updated (you'll see the orange or blue clock next to where it says: in stock) and then go when the store opens the next morning. I think a lot of the Targets in the area have been getting PS3s lately and are more reliable for inventory updates.

You're definately right, maxgle, some stores (EB/Gamestop, for example) don't update their inventory very well.

That would be your best bet, i can confirm that most stores have not got a shipment in for 1week+ which is rather odd but nothing can be done about it. Go early to CC and get that Wii.

The target at Wheaton had 15, and the line went easily 50++. Gamestop had 6, but by the time I left, the line went well above that. Circuit City had 10. BB in Gaithersburg has 12 of Zelda TP CE left as of this post. Don't know how much longer they'll be around. I had the employee look them up in their inventory. Hope that helps

The Wii must be totally out selling the ps3. I decided to keep my 20 gig and now I just have to buy a game for it. I am playing Bully on it and it doesn't look that bad. It is a bit jagged in the graphics department.

I think you're right about Wii outselling PS3. I was at the Gaithersburg BB store when they announced they had PS3's for sale at the front. No one moved and the manager came over to the line we were at and told us PS3s were available. Three different people asked if they got any Wii's and no one went over to get a PS3. I like my PS3 but the Wii's got better advertising, price, and uses the tilt innovation technology better in my opinion.

Sony should have included rumble since most of the reviews I've read recommend turning off the tilt feature on PS3. Hopefully, PS3 developers will come up with some innovative ways to use the tilt feature, but Wii wins this round I think.

I was just at the Laurel BB and there were 2 60 gig ps3's sitting right next to the ps3 games. I must of walked by 8 times and they were still there. If I hadn't of opened my 20 gig, I might have walked out with one.

If anybody doesn't have Final Fantasy XII and wants it, the Walmart in Bowie has them for ten bucks. They were sitting in a plastic bin in their typical clearing games out fashion. They actually had a lot of them, at least 10 when I got mine at about 1 PM today (12/26/06).

TRU in Gaithersburg had 9 Wiis this morning. I called my parents as they offered to try to find one for one of their church friends...but once there, they were told that they were all sold out. Gotta be lucky and fast for the Wiis.

Good question. The best I know of in driving range (which isn't saying much these days) would be Dave & Busters in Bethesda.

There's also a used arcade machine store at the end of Port Royal Rd. in Springfield.
