Best Buy "Clearance in Disguise" Boardman, OH (extreme YMMV?)

Was at this Best Buy and noticed that some items had "open box" stickers with discounted prices. Then i saw some on games, and none of the games were open. I asked about it and said that they just started doing this to get rid of overstock. Here's a partial list (full price in parenthesis):

Now normally I'd chalk this up as an extreme YMMV, but the guy said that this was a new method of clearancing items after the "$10 fiasco a few months ago" - so perhaps this will be at other BB's. Mods, if no one else can confirm, dispatch this in the appropriate regional forum

I'm waiting for a confirmation before going to snatch up MS4/5 (my nearest BB is a 20 minute or so drive - don't want to waste gas for nothing)

Wow - that's nice. Too bad I got Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath for roughly $20 at the B2G1F deal at TRU this week. It'd be nice if this was in NE Ohio, too.

I can't confirm any of those games but i can confirm the method.

When i bought Taiko Drum Master it had one of those "open box" stickers on it but it was brand new.

This is definately YMMV, these sales pop up at certain Best Buy's all the time.

98% of you will be wasting gas and time checking this out, for what it's worth. They were open box stickers simply because this is only the store doing this, so they can't get official price tags - there is no official price on these, so they improvised.

I can vouch for that, I had a sale at a BB with random games being dirt cheap 1.99-4.99, but the 2 best buys in the same area did not have the same sale.

This sort of thing happens every once in a while at various BBs. In my experience, they have to manually adjust the price at the register to the sale price, and it is very YMMV.

Taiko is only $15 at BB with the GGC.

Strange, mine has the following on Xbox for $10:
Call of Duty
Narc
Project: Snowblind
plus some others...

It didn't ring up correctly, but it had a price tag on the game with the new lower price. So just had to wait for a manager to override the price.
