best way to clean n64 games

i got 12 n64 games over from gamecrazy(3 for 15 deal), try them out on my roommate's n64(im getting mine thursday) and half of them wont go to the intro screen, i looked at the bottom(all of the ones i put in were perfectly fine), blew(as w/ all cartridge based games) and still, nothing, any suggestions?(could it be the 64 itself?????)

yep, the q-tips and rubbin alchol, or use a good quality eraser, those are the two most popular methods
