There is a program called Expression 3 which is a vector drawing program similiar to Illustrator and Coreldraw. The only difference is it has an emphasis on artistic strokes.

Years ago, it was sold from a company called Metacreations (who also made Painter, Kai Power tools, Ray Dream) to a Hong Kong based company called Creature House. Back then I paid about $120 for it. Recently Microsoft bought out Creature House and now they are offering it for a free download.

It says on the website that the download is free for previous owners of Expression but Microsoft is letting anyone download it. Here is the link to the review at PCMag:

Here is the link to the actual download (You have to sign up with Microsoft passport which is free but a pain in the ass):

Since there are a few artists floating around here at CAG, I thought you guys might check it out.

Many thanks Xevious. I'll look into this one. I love Kai's Power Tools when I had it way back when on my old computer where I used to work.

Thanks, OP! I'm downloading it now.

To those of you stuck with dialup like me, it's 58.6MB. Looks like it's worth the wait.

Since we are on the subject of free art programs, Here are a few off the top of my head:

Project Dogwaffle - There are a few versions of this; one of them is free
Blender3D - This is a free 3D application
Wings3D - This is a 3D modeller.
GIMP - an image editor like Photoshop
Artrage - A drawing/painting program

I havent used any of these programs so I can't tell you much about them. You can google each one of them to find out where to download these programs.
