I got an eye exam and 2 pairs of glasses from Meijers for $99. Think that includes contacts too. If you've got one by you that has an eye center in it, check them out.

Doesn't Lens Crafters do it for free if you get a pair of glasses or something like that?

you don't really need a yearly exam....... just when your vision gets blurry

Call around...I got mine for around $90 at a probably privately owned business. I've never gone to any place like Walmart or America's Best for my eyes, and I never will.
But of course the contacts are a diff. issue, once you have your perscription and know what you need you can get em pretty much anywhere you want.

Sometimes Super Walmart runs a promo for a free exam? YMMV.

Does the Best Buy $5 coupon work for this?
Stein Optical I thought had it cheap, though I don't know if there chain is nationwide. I used to go there, but now I prefer a privately owned place, their not badly priced at all, and it's WAY better than any chain stores.
I had problems with my contacts because they kept ripping, so I asked my doctor what I was doing wrong why they where ripping, and he told me why, and he even replaced all the one's that ripped when I didn't even ask, and my contacts are not cheap. You get a lot better service with a privately owned place, and it's worth it.

Lenscrafters and other places usually offer free exams. Check into that. I'm a little foggy though, cause last time I was looking for glasses I was in canada and looked at places in the u.s. and in canada, so I'm not certain where I kept seeing all the "free eye exam" signs.

Contact lens exams arent that cheap but the cheapest you will get will be at Costco from my experience.

You should have your eyes checked at least every 3 years. After that long, you don't even realize how blurry everything is until you get a new prescription. I won't be going back to Wal-mart...I think they only charged $60 at the time, but the contacts they kept prescribing me wouldn't fit well, and the exam guy seemed in a bit of a rush compared to my old-school eye doctors in a private office. <insert "Wal-Mart didn't even do the rectal exam!" joke here>

do you have insurance? or do your parents have insurance? you could always get it cheaper with insurance.
