Its the error message you get when you put in a copied cd or unrecognized disc
try cleaning the drive, and if that doesnt work, buy a drive on ebay. Putting one is about as hard as replacing a PC DVD drive.

Yeah I used a lens cleaner and didnt have any success, I though there might have been a mechanical fix for the drive.

When you replace a drive , do you have to get the same brand?
Thompson to Thompson , Samsung to Samsung , ETC .
My nephew's drive went out , and I would like to know if I can replace a Thompson with a Samsung .
Any help would be apprieciated .

Anyone know how to do it for a non modded box? xbox-scene has info for adding a PC drive, but your box must be modded. At least here's a link for pics on how to remove your drive if you get a new one from ebay:

Richlugh you can replace it with whatever you want.
Zmonkay you can add a PC drive to the xbox without having a modded xbox. But you will need to mod the PC drive.
I suggest just buying a replacemnt drive from ebay.
I bought a couple of thomsons from this seller. Great service, I was having a problem with one and they sent a replacement without any trouble.
