The internet's full of them...video game message boards, much like this one, are their homes. They troll mercilessly, making statements with no factual basis whatsoever. They attack others for liking a console that's not their own personal favorite. They make stupid topics about how much certain games "suck" or "kick ass," and verbally assault anyone who dissents. On top of all that, they're annoying as all hell. Clearly, something needs to be done...
Anyone have any ideas? I've been trying to come up with something creative that will eliminate or, at the very least, the rampant fanboyism that I see everywhere online. Any suggestions will be appreciated...and yes, I really AM so bored that I've thought about this and posted it here. I am indeed a loser...not that that's a bad thing. :)

Gamecube is OK
There are tons of games I like for the xbox.
There arnt many games I like for the PS2, so to me it sucks.
I dont really play the cube much so its just ok.

Partially...but more the GameFAQs DS board. I went there to try and find that link to the Nintendo press statement, and I felt like I'd stepped into a class full of kindergarteners. I think that board's collective IQ is somewhere around 27...not a good place at all.
The only solution is fire, and lots of it.

It's infectious, like a disease....
There is a large current of fanboyism online for nearly anything. Much more than you'll find in the normal world. Part of it is due to the fact that most online conversations are anonomyous. So people say extremes.
Secondly, almost all major corporations promote fanboyism to hurt their competition. Apple does it again Microsoft, Microsoft did it agains IBM. They went so far as to hire a staff just for the purpose of posing as fanboys to badmouth the OS2 operating system. Google is doing it to such a level now that it's practically sickening. And on the level of microsoft at their worst heyday of fanboyism.
As long as corporations promote it, it'll never go away.

I think the best solution is to make your own forum, where as soon as a fanboy rears his ugly head, you ban him. There's a difference between liking one console more than others and trying to spread your "gospel" just to piss people off, and people don't get it. You're entitled to your opinions, but you don't need to always yell them out.
Just another example of how disgusting fanboyism can be- on the GameFAQs boards, some people hate the Final Fantasy games so much that the Metal Gear Solid board regulars formed an alliance with the Xenogears board posters just to vote for each other's games so that a Final Fantasy game doesn't win in the Best Game Ever poll. How pathetic is that?

I dont see how everyone just cant get along... i happen to have 10 or eleven different gaming systems at my house and I like all of them including the big 3 right now, each of them has games that appeal to my tastes. The only system that has disappointed me to any certain extent was the N64 just because there were so few quality games

I think they already suffer. Especially when mommy won't buy them that new release for $50, and the school bully turns them upside down to shake their lunch money loose.

Am I not seeing something you are? There isn't any PS2-bashing by Xbox fanboys in the San Andreas thread.
Anyway, as most, if not all, of y'all know, I am an Xbox fanboy. But I think I'm one out of only a few because I know I've been gang-banged by PS2 fanboys on this forum a lot with no assistance from any fellow Xbox fanboys. So I don't think Xbox fanboys are much of a problem here, nor any other system fanboys. Sure, once in awhile there are some little flame wars amongst fanboys of opposite consoles, but in the end, it's all cool.
There have been a few GTA:SA threads.

Notice, I think GTA:SA will be good and R* will deliver like they always do, so don't even start calling me a hater.
we have to remember you can't be too sensitive about people opinions about conolse we like, if that was the case I would flame anyone who didn't like the DC or Virtual Boy.
