BioWare joint CEO Ray Muzyka acknowledges follow-up to martial arts role-playing game in interview, strongly hints that it will be on Xbox 360.

In an interview published today on Xbox Evolved, BioWare joint CEO Ray Muzkya revealed that the company is working on a follow-up to its Xbox martial arts role-playing game Jade Empire.

"BioWare definitely plans to continue the Jade Empire franchise," reads one of Muzyka's responses. "The Jade team did a great job with the first game in that series; we have great teams working on all of our games here. We've also said in the past that we're working on not just one, but two Xbox 360 titles. Enough said ; )"

The bulk of the interview, which also featured responses from BioWare's other joint CEO, Greg Zeschuk, was focused on BioWare's first confirmed Xbox 360 game, Mass Effect. Zeschuk discussed some basics of Mass Effect's gameplay, as well as the developer's plans to make it the first in a trilogy of Xbox 360 games.

Attempts to reach BioWare representatives for confirmation and comment were unsuccessful, as the developer's Vancouver, British Columbia, offices are closed today in honor of Remembrance Day.

Cool.

How was this game, anyway?

I was thinking of getting it, but then again I have a lot of RPG games I need to play:

Fable
Star Wars KOTOR 2
and I'm probably forgetting some others...

Well, the LE is like $20 most places, so why don't you give it a try? It's supposed to be like KOTOR with kung-fu.

I want KOTOR III more, but I'll pretty much take anything Bioware toss out.

I enjoyed playing the first one so I think I might get the second one when it hits that magicial price of $20.

good news! I really liked the first one. the only thing I hope they do with this one is make it longer. I know a lot of people had different finish/play times but I thought the game was a tad short.

Jade Empire is okay. If you like the KoToR style rpg then you will like this. I found the game to be too easy, the combat system is totally broken.

Lets hope they put a little more effort into this sequel than they did to KoToR II.

Ye, it's weird, at the time I liked KOTOR 1 quite a bit, but by the time KOTOR 2 rolled around and Jade Empire, I was tired of the long winded conversation paths. It's not that they were terribly written (sometimes quite the opposite) but I got tired of the false "role playing".. usually two major paths to follow and they just jam the words in your mouth and you're just picking A or B... Something I'd rather leave to real paper rpgs maybe.

I must say the graphics is Jade KILLED KOTOR 2 though... a very pretty game.

I don't know what you people are talking about. Sure Jade Empire was a good game. But to say that it "killed KOTOR 2" please people KOTOR II was amazing. Don't get me wrong, i'm looking forward to JE II but i don't think the original held a candle to KOTOR II. not even close.

Bioware didn't even develop KOTOR II. It was developed by Obsidian Etertainment.

i only got half way through KOTOR 2.. the game was just a forced story on rails. i'm not saying jade empire isn't suffering from the same problem or anything. sure, it's a lot to ask to have good graphics in a chase camera perspective game of that magnitude but those graphics looked tired when the game came out. there are a couple standout spots but how many countless featureless and absolutely dreary hallways can you run down before you start falling asleep.

maybe it got better in the second half.

Was there ever a rumor that the sequel was headed to a Sony console or am I nuts?

who is also doing NWN II. As far as KOTOR III goes, they would be the ones to do it from what I read in the interview related to NWN 2 at IGN

Bioware didn't make Kotor II. That is why Kotor II sucked ass.

The combat is awesome. It's just not overly complicated like most RPG's.

Yeah, I read that rumor in an issue of EGM.

I don't see why people keep bashing KOTOR II... sure the story wasn't as good as the first one, but it certainly wasn't bad. Maybe i'm to much of a star wars junkie, but i played through it at least 8 times. and never got borded with the story.

i only got half way through KOTOR 2.. .

So did the developers...

there must have been a rush to finish the game to meet a laucnh deadline or something cos it ends very abruptly, and people who have examined the code on the disc found tons and tons of extra dialogue for what would have been the true ending of the game provided they had actually finished it. Theres even a small group of modders trying to finish the PC version of the game using all the extra text thats been found.
