Not all GR's are in on this. Of those that do, the rules vary by compentence.

Does GameRush sell used GBA games? I've never been in one before...if they do, though, it might be worth it to go to GameStop, get me some cheap Iridion, and get myself some better games for cheap. :)

well..just made a trip to ballbuster

the gamecube section is pathetic..no recent releases are available...soul calibur 2 was there but no original box, manual

the gamecube new section was pretty bad too..hardly anything

seemed like a ton of games for ps2 and xbox were available

the games that i was looking for:

prince of persia(40 new, no used available)
viewtiful joe(no new, no used)
soul calibur 2(no new, used 14.99 w/o box, manual)

i didn't want to trade in a game and ge PoP for 30 because it's on the verge of dropping and some people on the board are saying that it's available for 20 bucks at target

well, the people who arnt looking to take advantage of the offer, will probably bring back a few normal games they play all the time. you also have to realize, being part of BB, they have tons of the newer games they want to get rid of (Mario Kart DD, RE0, Max Payne 2).

I believe the deal started just a few days ago so I'm assuming its not over yet. I stopped by one GameRush on Wednesday or Thursday and didn't see any signs or printouts about this deal. Then I went again on Saturday and they had handwritten signs posted all over the gaming section. Then I headed over to two other ones to see if they had any other games I was interested in and they too had the sloppy handwritten signs...

What city in CT is this game rush?
I have multiple blockbusters around me but don't know of any gamerushs. Btw we have a gamecrazy near shooters now.

Could I trade in a game to get some money off 1 game, then still get a 2nd game for 50% off? Probably not, right? Thanks.

Wshakspear, which Blockbuster did you find Pandora Tomorrow at? I managed to find a copy of Hitman: Contracts at the Wixom Gamerush, only one I've seen so far though.

The Commerce Township Blockbuster does NOT have a Gamerush, scubasteve, so don't waste your time with it. If you live in Okemos or Lansing or wherever, your closest Gamerush is in Novi. They've got a decent PS2 and XBox selection, not too good for Gamecube though. The Novi Blockbuster is almost right on the corner of 9 mile and Novi Road. The mall is on 12 mile and Novi Road, so just keep going over 96 a few miles down.

On a side note, I went to the movies on Friday night to see Troy and my wallet slid out of my pocket. The theater hasn't seen it and I've had no success in finding it around my house. Besides the $50 in there, there was also a Blockbuster Stored Value Card. Had about $60 on that thing. I once had over $200 on it thanks to the $25 Rogue Ops trade-ins. Still pretty pissed about losing the thing though...

As for Pandora Tommorow, i got it at the Commerce twp at Richardson and union lake lk's rd gr. and to be honest, it will most likely end up at the wixom location later today...i just couldnt get into it. too much of the same...but damn good looking though!

The mall is on 12 mile and Novi Road, so just keep going over 96 a few miles down.

thanks for the info :)

so i headed back there last night and most of the good games were gone. seems like word spread fast, cause on saturday there were a ton of games to choose from. also, the staff took notice of the deal and bought all the $3 used ps1 games and traded them back in for a more recent used title. some of them were even trading in those said newer titles for store credit to buy dvd's.

they said the deal is being test marketed in select stores, if it's successful, it's going to be a permanent thing, like the trade 1 game in and get $10 off a new game deal they have also. but with all the people taking advantage of the deal, I doubt this will last long.

Wshakspear

Why? They've already derived all the benefit from having bought the game anyway... all this is doing is clearing their shelves of games that they've already rented out multiple times. From the way it appears, a game will be rented many, many times in the first month, and then after that it languishes on the shelf. Its a great and highly symbiotic thing for them to do to open these stores... they even get a little bit of the sunk cost that they invested in the software to begin with.

They aren't losing anything here, they just aren't making as much profit on that single game. But that can be said about any promotion.
They are, however getting new business thanks to a sale like this.

Like me... I've never traded a game in... ever, until this promotion. Now, if I'm going to trade in any of my videogame software, it's more likely that I'll return to gamerush to do it.

Of course, if you behave like a moron and buy the 2.99 PS1 games at THEIR store and then trade them in, they are more likely to not add PS1 games to the next promo.

zewone
05-19-2004, 05:52 PM
what are you talking about? They are losing money because I bought the games for 9.99 and traded them right back to them for $22. I did this until i had enought store credit to buy FFXI, a game they will not be renting out, so no they didnt already get their money back. They lost out of like $85 on just me alone if everyone did that they would be hella screwed

Wshakspear
05-19-2004, 06:02 PM
to be honest, they did it against thier policy. on the handout/paperwork you can do this TWICE DAILY. thats there own damn fault, and it worked well for you. I have no problem with what you did, but its one of those nice ways of having a cool promotion never happen again.

and on that note im returning MGS:Twin snakes... i just cant get into it. I think the stealth genre is dead to me.

How can they lose money on a product that they've already derived profit from? They already made their money plus some on every used game that they are selling. If you traded them back for $22 dollars, that means that they had to have made around $40 dollars off of you between the PS1 games you bought to trade in and the other games you bought... and they cleared some old product off of thier shelves.

Heck, Blockbuster could take all of the games they rent out and throw them away when they were done with them and they'd still turn a profit.
Doing it this way, they just get more value out of their purchase.
On top of it, most people won't be like you, and they'll be trading in games with more resale value (if anything, the only thing they'd change about this promo is that they'd stop accepting PS1 games as a trade in.

You are being very short sighted about this...
Not only do they move old product of their shelves, they get new people (some of which are likely to become frequent customers) into their stores.
New customers are much more valuable that a dubious loss on a heavily used preowned game.

It's not booking a loss either.
This promotion is across all the stores, so not everyone is doing what you did. Actually I think very few people are... They are no worse of on this deal that when people were buying Rogue Ops at Best Buy for 5 dollars and trading it to Gamerush for 25 dollars credit.

Anyways, you weren't exactly following the rules of the promotion, the ills you say this would cause aren't likely to happen... most stores won't put up with what you did, and have every right to refuse a trade in.

Well... It would be awesome if they kept this deal, unfortunatltey, you know that many of the best titles after being added would be snatched up by store employees and it would probably be difficult to find good titles.

I was pretty happy with Prince of Persia and Gladius - but I was a little disapionted that they didn't have anything better. But I had a gift card, and I already had crappy Psone games that I didn't want.... I'll definatley be stopping in at the other GameRush near me when I'm out by there every time I get a chance to try and find some deals.

So so so so so so so! Wait a second here. I don't mean to sound like a noob here, but, I have 4 games:

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (PS2)
NBA2K2 (GC)
Legends of Wrestling (XB)
Spider-Man (XB)

So, you're saying that I can trade in all four of these games and basically get ANY TWO pre-owned games for 10 bucks? So, I could get two next-gen, used games for 9.99 if I trade in these four? Is this deal still valid? If so tomorrow I'm going to head out and see what they got. I'm hoping to pick up MGS:TTS and probably some other game that interests me there, anyone here from the Dallas area that has traded in anything? Did you get anything good?

Or, another question: I'm a completist, these used games come in their original boxes and have the manuals, correct? If not, I'll be one angry little man.

Yes, 2 of those titles will get you one pre-owned game for 9.99. You will also get the trade-in credit on those games.

As for having Manual/original case, it depends. One local GR has wind waker manual and disk but BB casing. then again, i got MGS:TTS with original box, manual and of course both disks. Take note, because only nintendo makes cases that work with blockbusters security latch, you may have to ask for an original xbox or ps2 case if thats the system of your choice.

You're prolly get $2-3 bux for the next gen sports games unless they're 2004, then you'll get something in double digits. The Gamerush near me didn't have the offer. They had a lot of games I would have picked up too (Splinter Cell: Pandora is the one I wanted the most).

I guess it kind of figured it wasn't ment to be, road workers put concrete barriers up blocking the highway exit (that place has been under heavy construction forever), leading to a lengthy detour after turning around at the next exit a few miles up the road. I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised that gr didn't have the deal since nothing else seemed to be going my way.

I did pick up Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Mega Man Legends (both PS1) for $4.50 total, only to come home and find out my primary Playstation memory card decided to completely erase itself. It was a first party card too. I just couldn't win.

Whats cool is every week they pull some rentals off the shelf and put em in pre-owned. So it's worth checking a few weeks after a major release to see if it's there. My gamerush had newer titles like Outbreak, Hitman Contracts, and Onimusha 3.

Also, my friend traded in nba live and nhl 2004 and got $25 for each of them. One ps1 game even got him $12, and he paid $2.99 for it the day before. Gamerush trade in prices are really high.

I got 4 more games to trade-in tomorrow. Does anyone know if they accept your trade-in even if a game isn't in the right box? For example, I have EXTREME PINBALL (got it for like 1 dollar at Gamestop), in an NBA Live 1998 PSX box, it doesn't have the manual, does that matter at all?

Anyway if, I got these next games to trade-in tomorrow:

Beast Wars: Transformers (horrid game, really cheap)
Extreme Pinball (one of the original PSX titles, really long load times, bad game)
Quantum Redshift (good for a while, but is really just an F-Zero clone, I got it for 7 dollars)
Monster Rancher 2 (got some good playtime in the day, and I just don't need it anymore, also without an instruction book)

So, basically, do you need the instructions/original box to trade-in PSX games? I hope not.

I plan on getting Alias and some other game tomorrow, dunno which yet. Something good, I promise.

And yes, I know the Alias game isn't getting "good reviews", per se, but, hey, I wanna play it because I'm a huge Alias fan. Now would be a good time to get it.

Oh, and one more thing, are you sure there's a limit to how many you can get per day? I was kinda hoping I could get 3 tomorrow, haha. :D

Then on a new purchase I traded those BOTH back in, lol, and got 25 for each so a total of 50 and then I got fight night 2004 new and they charged me 50 but the ad says 39.99 :( so I ended up paying 25 for fight night 2004 but I should have only paid 15, good deal? :D

actually, that $10 off bit is only with trade-in...meaning, you can do all the trade 2 get 1 for $10 things you want, but you need to trade in a game specifically for the $10 off.

"I got 4 more games to trade-in tomorrow. Does anyone know if they accept your trade-in even if a game isn't in the right box? For example, I have EXTREME PINBALL (got it for like 1 dollar at Gamestop), in an NBA Live 1998 PSX box, it doesn't have the manual, does that matter at all?"

Just take in the disk. They really dont care, and they dont subtract anything if its missing stuff.

Anywho, just traded in Unreal 2 ($25) and XIII($7) and got Knights of the old republic for the usual 9.99. this was at the Bloomfeild hills (W. Maple) Gamerush, where they also had 2 copies of Klona 2 (great game) and some copies of Wind Waker with case/manual.

I was at the Farmington Hills store 2 days ago and picked up Hitman: Contracts & Final Fantasy: CC with this deal. After trading in old PS1 games, my total came to $10.33. Both are getting around $20 in trade-in value. This deal is INSANE.

You can trade Hitman Contracts back in and get $30 credit if you dont like it. Thats what I did. So far I've spent $7 out of my pocket and gotten rid of a few old used games. In return I got Twin Snakes, Medal of Honor Rising Sun, Sonic Mega Collection, and $80 in store credit. Now that's just crazy.

I saw a Mario Party 5 in either one of the Richardson stores or the Garland one off of Lavon. Can't really remember tho but I definately saw one last week... You could go to the site and call them to have them check for ya. I stopped by the one by Town East again just a few hours ago and traded in two games and got Hitman Contracts for Xbox. Armed and Dangerous (xbox...funny, but not Conker funny) - 13

Picked up NFSU and FF:CC. Im gonna go play them in a minute.

I now have $110 in credit after about $30 out of pocket. I'm kinda hoping i don't get into either game, that way i can trade them in tommorow and finnaly get a ps2. That's good, cause i own Kingdom Hearts and have played maybe 3 hours on my GF's sisters PS2.

Hello all, and I just used the Game Rush deal to my advantage again. :D

I found Mario Party 5 and got it, thanks for the tip polobearjp!

But, I got Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles instead of my originally planned Alias, because I didn't like the shape the disc was in, and well, it'll be 20 dollars in a few months anyway. ;)

I'll be going back to Game Rush in about 2-3 weeks again for sure!

The total for both games I got was about 14 dollars, great stuff. I also got the original case and manuals for both games!

Not sure how trustworthy word of mouth is from a BlockBuster employee but the guy in one of the Mesquite, TX stores here told me earlier today that starting next week, they're doing a trade in 3 games and get any used game for $4.99 and that it's only going to last for a week. I didn't ask what day of next week so it could start anytime from sunday (23rd) til next saturday (29th). Time to dig out those old PS1 games... ^_^

Yup. Completely positive. The guy also mentioned that to me, Polobear. Maybe it was the same worker, does he have a goatee? :D If so, it looks like it's the same guy, and was it at the one in Town East?

I mean, I got 4 games in GREAT shape for like a total of probably 30 dollars all-together. Those games being Wario Ware: Mega Party Games, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, and Mario Party 5.

Game Rush rules. That simple.

Like I said, I'm going back in a few weeks to see if they have Custom Robo or any other cool game I don't have for the Xbox/PS2/GCN/GBA.

This statarted with me wanting to clear out some clutter and get some new games, and then when i realized i had about $60 in credit after a day or two doing nothing other than getting a new game, playing it, and finding out i didnt like it (SC:Pandora Tommorow, Mario Kart).

Nothing illegal, i never traded in more than 2 games a day, didnt get anywhere near the 20 trade in limit, and i didnt dupe any employees with bad games/cd's (which would have been SO easy to do...but im not that much of a bastard)

BTW, the new model PS2's are VERY quiet...very nice.

hey guys i got a pretty big update to this. I went to gamestop today and got 2extreme and some football game for 3.60 total. Then i went to gamerush and they had a used copy of twin snakes that someone had traded in (it wasn't one they rented out i could tell cause it was still in its original case) and so i take all the stuff to the counter. The guy told me that since i have a blockbuster account the amount of trade ins you do is saved to your account. He said that u can trade in 2 games and get a used for 10 bucks...trade in 3 and get a used for 5 bucks or trade in four games and get a free used game. Just remember you can only trade in 2 games a day so dont try walking in with 4 games to trade in all at once. So anyway i traded in the two ps1 games and im gonna go get two more tomorow and trade them in and get twin snakes for a total of 2.00 out of pocket (the ps1 games trade in for 1.50 and i buy them for 2.00).

Well, I actually traded in 4 games a day, twice in a row... You can only BUY two games a day, not trade-in. Besides, it just depends on the employee you have.

So, I caved in, and decided to buy WWF Attitude and Jupiter Strike at Gamestop, costing me a total of about 3.50, went to a Game Rush, and got the last copy of Alias there, for about 7 dollars. So, I basically just got a practically new game (it was in the original case, had the manual, and had a very clean disc), for about 11 dollars out of my pocket total.

Yay for Game Rush and us abusing it's policies!

Anyone know if I can expect to see Metroid Zero Mission, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, or Custom Robo used at Game Rush in like 2-3 weeks?

I really want those games... and I know two of them came out today, but, still. Zero Mission has been out since February.

BTW: I don't see why everyone hates Alias, it's a good game, aside from sometimes clunky graphics and a bad battle system, of course, I'm just a big fan of the show, so I'll just be quiet. :?

I don't think it ever ends. I think it's been with Game Rush since it first arrived... That's a relief. This way I NEVER have to buy a full-priced game again! :D

50 dollars for something I'll only play once or twice is just far too much for me to spend. I actually think that I won't buy many 50 dollar games ever again if this "deal" does in fact continue. However, I will be reserving Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, so, that'll probably be my next 50 dollar game purchase, and that comes out in late November...

I really hope this deal sticks around for a while, though, I still have 4-5 games I want to try and find in the next few weeks! :P

I've been thinking about buying like, 3 copies of Hitman Contracts, and to sell back 2 of them, and I'd get like 70 dollars credit for them, right? And I would only have to spend like 5-6 dollars on them originally, depending on the games I would have traded in to them... I'm sure this is frowned upon, but I have a friend who really wants a Gamecube, and I could buy him a used one in the store for 80 bucks, and I'd only have to spend about a total of 30 dollars in the end...

However, that is pretty awesome, oh man, 105 dollars credit and I'd only have to spend about 20 bucks or so, wow, awesome. I might do that soon...

As of around noon today, the Town East location had 1 Hitman Contracts for Xbox, I traded it in. Didn't see any other display boxes for it in the used section tho...

Are you guys finding these games directly on the shelves??? Because I can certainly tell you that my GameRushes (Sterling Heights and Rochester) don't have anything too great.

Yeah, but there's a lot of games behind the counter, just ask them and chances are, if it's a major game that's been out for about a month or two, chances are that they'll have it in.

Hey Nephets, any chance you could help me ask if they have any copies of Samurai Warriors behind the counter the next time you're at the Town East location? I never thought about that and I'm too lazy to drive all the way over there for a fourth time this week.

I traded in my PS2 NFL Street about a month/month and a half ago and they gave me $20. I think if you see a used game priced at $39.99, the trade in value is $25 and if the price is $32.99 the trade in value is $20, I can't guarantee it 100% of the time but thats always been the case with my experiences there...

Sure thing. Just know that I probably won't be going to another Game Rush for about a week or two, man, I truly hope this deal is still valid by then... but, I'll ask and check out the stores for you, and then let you know which Game Rush stores have it.

Oh, wow, this is a good deal too, couldn't you basically trade-in 5 bad, cheap games, and get a new game for free (minus tax)? Or could you only trade-in one game?

You can only trade in one for $10 off and even then, its not all new games. They have a lil printout somewhere with about 3-5 games that you could save $10 on...

actually it should be $10 off any new (non-po) title $39.99 and up.which if your looking for something new that isnt PO yet, you can still figure out a deal

Today is the dawn of a new era. I went to EBgames and got jimmy johnson football and two other sports games for a total of 3.50 out of pocket. I went to Gamerush and did the trade in 3 get one for 4.99. My total amount due for NFL Street was .79 cents. Now thats what i call expensive!!

Yesterday I went by Gamestop and bought 10 cheap games...all $4.99 and under (most were $1.99)...and traded them in to get:

Jak II
SC: Pandora Tomorrow
Rainbow Six 3
FF: Crystal Chronicles
Mafia

Total cost after discounts and trade in was $23-something. I spent like $29 at Gamestop. So....$52 for 5 games.

are you guys getting games that are in good shape(box, instructions, disc)? most of the games at the local gamerush look like people wiped their ass with them

you dont need box/instructions when trading in at gamerush. i would just run the disc under some water before you trade em in.

went back last night and got mario party 5, and ridge racer (psx) for $4. thats some crazy shit right there.

All the games I've gotten from GameRush have been in awesome condition, almost all of them look brand new with a manual thats never been touched. However, only a few of them came with the original case...

The guy at my gamerush is the freakin man. He actually goes through all the copies of the game I want, finds one with the instructions, then throws it all into a new case (not the crappy blockbuster ones either). If the game has a scratch or two, they usually open a few to find the best one. Every pre-owned game I got there can pass for brand new.

I guess it depends who's willing to help you out. As far as the case issue, they have tons of xbox/ps2/gc cases so it shouldn't be a problem getting one.

I'm trying to get ahold of Hitman: Contracts

I have a thread going for helping people take advantage of this if there's no Gamerush near you. Check it out.

i believe it's $1.50

in one store, i saw it on the shelf for 39.99 and right behind it another copy was marked 6.99..

did anyone in dallas find any of the higher priced trade ins? like hitman contracts, samurai warriors..the two GR's here in richardson said that they were way too new to be available as previously owned

I've found Red Dead Revolver and Hitman Contracts both for Xbox at the location just down the street from Town East Mall in Mesquite. Weird, I live in Richardson but I've been to the Mesquite GameRush more than the two here combined. Haha...

Well, once again, I went to Game Rush (Town East, again). No Samuari Warriors, sorry Polo. :(

I traded in two games.

NCAA Football 2002: costed me 2 bucks.
Rogue Ops: costed me 3 bucks

I then used that to get Metroid: Zero Mission. It's only the game cart, but that's all I need.

So now 5 out of my 6 games I got came out of the Game Rush in Town East, man, that one rules.

I spent about a total of 8 bucks tonight. Man, I'm so abusing Game Rush. This girl who works there (she has red hair and glasses), is probably sick of me by now. :P

so are you basically trading/rebuying the same copy of hitman contracts over and over again?

However, this time I promised myself I'd wait about a week or two before heading back, due to me wanting to wait for some games that aren't quite old enough to be considered preowned games.

Summer is a very slow month for games, as publishers wait until the late fall/winter seasons, due to the holidays that approach.

I can only think of about 4 games which are coming out in the next few months that I actually want, and I've seen two of them at Game Rush. I'm hoping to see the other two in less than two-three weeks.

Nope, I just traded for it there once and didn't like the game too much and decided to trade it back over there since they had the GTA Double Pack for Xbox, didn't see that at either Richardson stores nor the Garland one off of Lavon...

Oh and thanks for helping me ask about Samurai Warriors nephets! I'll keep an eye out for Custom Robo at the stores there the next few days before my vacation and if I see it, I'll let ya know asap.

I can't believe I finally found Metroid: Zero Mission tonight. I was telling myself I'd find it, and so far I've found every game in Game Rush that I want. Well, there's still two more I've yet to find: Mario & Donkey Kong and Custom Robo... though, I can understand not finding them yet, they just came out like 2 days ago. If you find a store with Mario & Donkey Kong (GBA) as well, can you tell me which one you find it at? That and Custom Robo are the favors I'm asking of you. :)

Be sure they are pre-owned, though. As I've already seen new copies of Custom Robo show up at Game Rush.

hmm... I wonder if Gamerush will be getting the NES GBA SP. I wouldn't spend 100 dollars to get another GBA because of the casing, but 20-30 dollars to do so is something else entirely.

Nephets

Here's my plan to get like 100 dollars credit without spending much money. I plan to go to around 2-3 Game Rushes to complete this transaction.

1. Buy about 6 cheap PSX titles: total amount spent: around 15-20 dollars.

2. Trade-in Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (I originally got it for around 6 bucks): get around 25 or so store credit... :?:

3. Take 4 of those titles and trade them in to Game Rush, credit will get brought up as well as me getting 2 preowned games for less than 20 dollars. I plan on getting either two copies of Hitman Contracts, Splinter Cell: PT, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, or NFL Street.

4. Get those 2 games I have, go to another Game Rush, trade in those titles: get a total of about 50 dollars.

5. Trade in the other 2 PSX titles, get another preowned game for less than 9.99: once again, getting any preowned game that sells for more than 25-35 dollars.

6. Go to another Game Rush, trade in that game I just bought, get more credit on the account. Total credit amount now (an estimate): 105 dollars. That's only if each game I got sold for around 35 bucks each.

7. See if anything good is at Game Rush, if not, save credit.

Would that plan work? Is anything wrong with it? Or can someone walk me through how to get over 100 dollars credit by just spending around 30 dollars or so. I know it's possible, but I need guidance before I go out and do that.

Also, which games trade-in for 35 dollars? I know a few do...

Oh and, hmm... I wonder if Gamerush will be getting the NES GBA SP

Why get an SP when the DS is supposidely coming out in November? :?:

nephets, this is how i got 80 dollars in credit.

Started by trading in 2 games (from my collection) and getting hitman contracts for 6.90 out of pocket

then i bought 3 games at gamestop and got nfl street for .79 cents

then i bought another 3 games at gamestop and got mgs twin snakes

i then took those three games to another gamerush.

traded them in and got prince of persia for 5 dollars

at this point i had 80 dollars left on my account

i used that to get a gameboy advance sp
