Well this is great. I ordered True Crime NYC off this guy who had over 900 feedback with a 99.9% positive. It was a decent price $39.99 + $2 shipping so I figure it'll save me $12 from stores if you count tax. Instead the guy decides he's going to keep everyone's money and run apparently.

Here is the auction
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8232239538&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Here is the 15 negative feedbacks he's suddenly received in the last 24 hours

I think I'm just going to stick to selling on Ebay, it seems you just can't trust people.

I'm thankful this didn't happen about three weeks ago when I decided to buy a brand new PSP for $223 on Ebay. I got it 3 days later with no pixel problems brand new, but you just never know. Be careful of Ebay.

Someone could have hijacked his account because that is odd that this guy would turn bad all of the sudden. Although that is entirely possible. It's also odd that he got some positives thrown in the mix. Could be from old auctions though.

Yeah I just looked at the last positive. It makes no sense because the auction ended Nov. 14th and the positive was left on the 15th.

Yeah, that doesn't make sense. Something's fishy....I would think the user would know about his/her account being hijacked if it were, but you never know. Sucks though for you regardless...

I guess I'll just file a Paypal dispute, hope I get my money back and go buy the game full price. Yaaay if I don't get a refund I'm paying $90+ for a game I had mild interest it!

You know, it is possible that the mail lost the package...and that he's just sick of always having to answer the "where is my game" question.

duh, the guy probably died last week. It happens.

same thing happened to me. a 1000+ feedback seller with a 99.3% rating just all of a sudden stopped sending out games. here's the link to the auction i won:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8227730243&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

i'm gonna file a complaint pretty soon. it's just so strange that an established seller would fuck over some people out of the blue.

I know you're joking but I guess that could happen, or got in a really bad accident or something. But if he replies and says sorry I'm dead I'm not excusing him! :)

Did you not read his feedback? there's like 15 different users that gave him negative feedback just in the last few days. Did all of them get lost in the mail?

I wasn't joking - it probably happens all the time. It's not like eBay sellers are immortal or something (I think). Even if he didn't die there are a ton of legitimate reasons why this happened - horrible accident, he got really sick, someone important to him just died, he's in the process of moving somewhere far away, house flooded and computer is down, etc. It does suck though...

When I used buy it now for the game I looked at his other auctions, he had tons of auctions for sale. Many many copies of True Crime, that crappy 50 cent game that's coming out, Battlefront and others. Now I look and he has nothing for sale. I'm calling it a SCAM and that he's alive and well enjoying everyone's money.

have you played the 50 Cent game? or are you just ignorantly calling it crap?

VidgamesgivemeA_D_D

Ok excuse me, 50 cent is crappy and he has a game coming out that I have not yet played.

haha!

Naw he's already been shot like 7,000 times. He is the devil's servant. That one guy I think it was Monkey from Korn quit the band and became a die hard Jesus freak and warned people about 50 cent. It's all true I tell you he's the incarnation of the DEVVVVVVVVVVIL!

As chickenhawk already said, his account was most likely hijacked. Hopefully, you get your money back, as PayPal is known not to give a damn about its users.

Also, never buy an item from eBay with a stock-image, it's usually a good idea to see exactly what you're getting. Sellers will always try to manipulate their words "I said it was NEW, not SEALED!"

You know the people saying he's dead could be right, but you could have just nailed it on the head too.

Who knows?

But either way I'm screwed.

Something like that happened to me. Spent $120 on something from a seller with 99.8% feedback 8XX total. The guy nuked his account and ripped off more than 50 people. He took the money out of Paypal and closed it and that was that. Or took some of it at least (up to whatever limit there is)...either way I couldn't get my money back. Fuck Paypal.

You may as well call Paypal Ebay, Ebay's owned them for a few years now.

Ebay doesn't care if you rot in hell.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions immediately.
there are many weird turn of events, maybe something really awful happened.
I would give him week or two, maybe he doesn't even know his account 've been hijacked or something.
email him or call him, simple as that.
hope you'll get your game or dough.

That's true I always forget you can get their contact info, seriously thanks.

I will call and find out if this person is dead, or playing Madden 360 with my $$$!!!!!!!!!

He's in Las Vegas so it could be either.

I use stock images all the time and I have 100% feedback.

I'm the exact same as you Graystone, about half of my feedback is selling out of 202 positives 100%. And I've always used stock.

Well I called and his phone went to voice mail and I left a message asking if we could talk about it, I was respectful. But then I just noticed that he is now no longer a registered user.

I know people have gone to court over Ebay before, and even though it's only $42 I'm really considering it. I believe he would have to come to my town at his own expense as well as pay all court fees and I don't think I would pay anything as long as I win, and I don't see how I wouldn't win. I think it would teach him a lesson.

Is that insane or justified?

Be a bit more patient, if something weird happened it will take a little time to figure out. If he did just close up shop and run with the money you (and all the other folks that were scammed) will need some time to plan your next course. But small claims court for 42 dollars, I wouldn't myself.

The beauty of ebay scams is that it's not worth your time to go after him for only $42. I wouldn't waste another minute on this guy - just pretend you lost your wallet one night or something. It's not like $42 is that much.

Another possibility. This is his *business* and it wasn't going well (he's losing money/nearly bankrupt).

So he decided to close up shop & quit, but before doing so, he'll grab as much money as he can to pay off his debts.
