Gamespot reviewed Half Life 2 (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/halflife2/review.html) and the reviewer claims, note that word claims, the frame rate struggles most of the time, and downright dies on occasion; nothing to differentiate the xbox game from its pc counterpart, save for its flaws.

IGN, Team Xbox and Gamespy have said the issues are periodic and don't lessen the gaming experience.

Since Halo 1 & 2 receive graphical upgrades due to frame buffering the games to 720p, decreased pop up, improved draw distances, increased speed in texture mapping, frame rates etc. I'm wondering if Half Life 2 will benefit as well.

I can't see that it wouldn't. Why else would this game be on the first announced batch of BC games when the game wasn't released at the time of its compilation?

I'm picking this game up on launch of the 360 mostly because I don't want to start new game saves on the original Xbox anymore but also because improved hardware may make the game a more enjoyable overall experience.

Anyone have thoughts on original Xbox games receiving boosts from 360 emulation and hardware advantages from here on out?

Do all Xbox games get the hardware boost like Halo 1 & 2? I thought that MS would have to implement them per emulator for a game. I doubt games like Catwoman and Drake will recieve any kind of special attention, but a game like Half-Life 2 might. Too bad they didn't just wait for a 360 version, but that Valve guy promised there would be a Xbox version.

Every game that has an emulator will at least be upscaled to 720p. I'm not sure about framerates, etc. One would think, but who knows.

So are the current Xbox games going to have the graphical improvements, or would have to go buy a new copy that has had something done to it?....confused.

Yes, it runs better on 360. Gabe Newell said as much on G4 the other day.

Yes, the current games. You won't have to buy a new copy that is optimized.

Framerates weren't mentioned as one of the improvements.

"I'll let you know on Saturday" is about the best I can come up with. I'm considering the copy of Half-Life 2 I just picked up as a 360 launch title.
