Hi Guys,

I just got a handmedown 21" sony trinitron (crt-- biiiig sucker).. looks so nice and it was 100% free. :bouncy:

Is there a cable that you can purchase (I seem to remember someone mentioning this) that would allow me to plug my XBOX into my monitor? If anyone could advise or refer me to a site I would really appreciate it!

One quick question - so the sound goes through your PC as well? I have a 400 watt set of Klipsch surround speakers so I'd love to take advantage of it. (do you have to also plug into your soundcard? )

Any help APPRECIATED!!

Yes you can. And yes, you'll need an adapter. More specifically, a VGA adapter.

Here are the two most common ones: The X2VGA (http://www.x2vga.com/) (can only be used with Xbox), and the VD-Z3 (http://www.vdigi.com/) (can be used with any component-capable device).

Basically, it bridges between your monitor and your pc's graphics card, and you switch between whatever you'd like the monitor to be displaying.

As for sound, it depends on what kind of speakers you have. If I'm not mistaken, both adapters have stereo jacks (1/4", not Red/White), and optical input for 5.1. Just browse around those links, and they should answer any questions you may still have.
