*RESOLVED FOR NOW*I am having a problem trading with the user name James

Alright, a few days ago I made a trade with the user name "James". As per our deal, I would trade Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and a 1 year free XBOX Live card for True Crime and Shenmue 2. We processed the trade, and I shipped UPS with a tracking number. Up until this point, everything was going well. However, once I notified James about my shipment, he stopped replying to my messages for 2 days. Now just a few minutes ago, I received this PM from James:

No, you should just let me call you because that's the easiest way to verify you are telling the truth. There's already 3 things I've noticed that don't add up right off the top. I'd figure if it was me and someone hacked my name I'd do everything I could to help out. That's the simplest way to do things. Or PM me your mailing address in Denver. That wouldn't be as good, but it's something to check out.

The ending of this story is that there is a litlle 19 year old bastard in Fredricksburg that's about to get seriously OWNED. The only question is whether it's you or not. If it isn't, I'd appreciate your help because it cuts down on my work.

It appears that manofpeace20 is preparing legal action, and he has every right to do so. So, if this is the real, legitimate James whose profile has been hacked by another party, then I suggest you get on the phone with manofpeace20, guyver2077, or MightySlacker and help them fix this problem. As it stands, you are the only thing that is keeping this from being resolved. And that isn't going to reflect on you too nicely when manofpeace contacts the authorities about this.

He said he changed his password after a trader had been done. That takes a few days. He would have know the instant some one pmed him. It would have came to his email box saying he had a pm from cag.


If he was never here that would have sent of a red flag to me that some one was on my account.

I would have changed the password then and notified cheapy and the mods and replay to the pms saying it wasn't me. However nothing was done about it till one of the other deals went down. Then he chaged his pass and said it was someone ele to try to get out of a bad deal and get away with it. But it didn't work his lie got confused

he gave himself away and tried to cover and it didn't fly. so he got backed into another lie and that one was worse then the first.

Excuse me for being the devil's advocate here, but I would just like to know why the heck *IF* (NOTE IF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) James' account was truly hacked, then why the hell would he have to be responsible to compensate your stuff, manofpeace20. That's absurd that you would actually believe that someone who is totally uninvolved w/ the transaction would be willing to do something to help you make up your loss.

What about information on his parents? Or their places of employment (if they aren't retired of course)? What about some of the neighbors. Say for example, next door neighbors Roger and Danny! They seem like swell guys!

You seriously need to think about this. I guarantee that this isn't even close to anything interesting that I've found out. And that's just a basic hours worth of work. Others have said a few inconsistencies, but I'm going to point outa few glaring ones that I noticed.

1 - The "hacked" account. Well, that just retarded on a number of levels. First, this place is FREE. There's ZERO incentive to hack an account. But what bothered me is using your TradeGamesNow.com user name is feedback. For those who didn;t catch it, his user name is JamesH1985. JamesH is the "hacker" apparently. So what's his motivation? I mean he has perfect feedback on TGN. So, that means:

A) He got bored with TGN and decided to trade games here. Oh, and instead of making a name he hacked yours.

B) He got mad that you took the James name and hack you. For some reason, he didn't want to register JamesH1985. Just a coincidence.

Whoops, neither of those options sound very realistic, do they?

2 - You made a legit trade. Jesus Chrystler man, that was about the dumbest thing you could have done. As someone pointed out, when someone hacks you, they don't do it to set up legit trades. WTF?

3 - If you were telling the truth, and the Lunar thing was your last post, well, that was at the end of January. So I'm dying to know, why did you just HAPPEN to come back after 4 months? I mean, the "hacker" has been posting for a whole month, doing dastardly deeds like doing legit trades. Surely you would have noticed by now? No to mention the serious logic gap in you playing dumb. If the "hacker" had been posting for almost a month, he would have no need to delete PMs. But obviously he did, because you had no clue what MoP was talking about.

You can say whatever nonsense comes out of that thick skull of yours, but we both know it's going to be bullshit. You did start posting again after the CloudSpekk thing happened, so I would suggest searching and looking up that thread to see what you are up against. I don't bluff, and I would be more than happy to share all the info I have with everyone. What they do with it afterwards is no concern to me. You have a very limited timeframe to fix this situation with ManofPeace.

Give them your tracking number and ask them not to deliver the package, rather, return it to you. They will happily follow your instructions. Just hope its not too late. Good luck.

I would also like to add one thing. Your address is hardly personal. About 99% of the time all you have to do is go to someplace like WhoWhere.com (http://whowhere.com) or Google (http://google.com) and put in the persons name. What are going to do? After my dad saw this letter, he said he will pay for my Lawyer. He said it will cost a lot, but this guy is of the lowest life form and deserves to be squashed (well, not exactly, but he said he will get a lawyer and I don't have to pay him back). I am also really considering to send this story to Miss Judge Judy. She would PWN Mr. CloudSpekk.

Not at all. This service is absolutely free. Even if the package in question has the status of "Out for Delivery", the driver with the package can receive a message on the road to RTS (return to sender) the package. Just be sure to call UPS before the package is delivered. After it has been delivered, UPS can do nothing for you.

Well I'm back, and I apparently didn't miss much. I'm no closer than resolving this issue than I was last night, because James insists on trying to avoid resolving this. Howvever, the best new thing since last night is finding out Guyver2007 actually left feedback for Jame's "hacker":

I know how to resolve this quickly. I sent Jame's "hacker" the tracking number through a PM. If James can find this tracking number in his PM's, then I would be a step closer to canceling delivery and losing 7 dollars instead of a game and card.

You need to call UPS ASAP. Dont waste time emailing them. 1-800-pick-ups. Explain the situation to the. Even so, you'd be able to tell if he's on a cell phone...At least if he PM'ed someone his number they could do a reverse search and check it's location...I believe Cell numbers won't give you a location, but at least it would help clear up some of the mystery.

He sent me the tracking number, and the next morning I type it in...no dice. I try later in the day with no luck, and contact guessed to see if he has any ideas. I end up calling UPS to see if they can verify shipment (not that I didn't trust guessed, I just wanted to make sure they hadn't forgotten about the package or something). I spoke with 3 different representatives who all told me that the information in the computer wasn't stored by address, just by tracking number. Unless you have that tracking number, I'm not sure you'll have much luck.

1. I think I have been ripped off. What should I do?

Go to any of the mail fraud sites listed below to file a complaint. I suggest filing for as many as you can.

2. When should I file for mail fraud?

If you have sent out numerous e-mails regarding your payment being received and/or item being sent and never received the item/e-mail within a 15-20 days from the date you shipped the item/payment, send out ONE LAST e-mail informing them that you will take action if they do not respond to your e-mails. If after 2-3 days of no response, start to file for mail fraud. The faster you file the mail fraud, the faster you will get what is owed to you.

3. The other party responds to my e-mails, but keeps giving me excuses and/or the run around. What should I do?

It's more than likely they just trying to buy more time. If they reply to your e-mails but keeps telling you that it will be shipped soon, over and over, notify them that you will be filing for mail fraud. File for mail fraud as soon as possible. Especially with PayPal and their 30-day policy (see FAQ #6). If you keep on letting them buy more time, they'll just keep giving you that same answer over and over until either the PayPal 30-day complaint is over, or if you forget about it and give up trying to get the item.

4. What do I need when I file a complaint?

Most of the time it's a win-win situation if you have most, if not all of the following..

You will need the following contact information of the other party:

* Name
* Address
* Phone Number (if available)

You will need any of the following proof and/or evidence: (the more the better)

* Email and/or Instant Message conversations
* Proof of shipment of item
* Proof of payment (Credit Card Bill, Check Statements, PayPal, Receipts, etc.)

5. I paid for something online with a credit card, money order, check or cash and I never received the item. What should I do?

If you paid with credit card, notify the credit card company, and inform them of the situation. Tell them you want to dispute the charge, and they will investigate.

If you paid with a money order, you can go back to the place you bought the money order from or call the number that is on the receipt stub from the money order and have them do a 'stop payment'. What 'stop payment' does is, it prevents the person from cashing it in. But if the money order has been cashed already, there is nothing that can be done, unless you file for mail fraud. Also, the receipt stub that was on the money order can also be used as proof of payment, as well as proof of them cashing it when they track the money order.

If you paid with a check, its similiar to a money order. You can do a 'stop payment'. If the check has been cashed, there is nothing that can be done, unless you file for mail fraud. If the check has been cashed, you can ask your bank to for a bank statement concerning the check. This will be used as proof that the person cashed your check.

If you paid in cash, this will be harder as there is no proof/receipt that you sent it. So, send at your own risk.

6. I ordered something online using PayPal. What should I do?

PayPal's policy is that, you have 30-days to file a complaint. If after 30-days, you are out of luck. If you have not received a response and/or item within 20-days, file a complaint with PayPal. If by any chance, you do receive the item, you can cancel the complaint with PayPal. If the other party is at fault, PayPal will recover whatever money is owed to you, IF the money is in the other party's account. If there is no money in the account, there is nothing that can be done unless you used your credit card on PayPal to pay for the item (see FAQ #5).

7. Does there have to be a certain value before I can file for mail fraud?

No. It's not the cost and/or value of the item, inorder for you to file for mail fraud. It's the principle. You can file for mail fraud whether your lost or the item costs, $5.00, $100.00, or even $1,000.00. Mail fraud is a crime and a federal offense. Legal action can be taken against the the other party if they are found guilty if they do not return what is owed to the respectful ower.

Man, I've been a newbie lurker for a few months now, and the horror stories that I've witnessed influence me to not trade here! I'm sure this is a small percentage of ")$%W*$)'s mess it up for everyone but it seems I read more and more horror stories of traders here.

this is actully i beleive only the 2nd trade gone wrong. there have been scammers like dealmaster, but he is ALWAYS exposed within a matter of mins.

there was the red gopher thing, which as i said was explained and i feel to have been bad luck, and the other day i saw someone post that manimal didnt complete his end of the trade, which isnt cool because he has a good rep here.

Hey buddy there is a really easy solution for this,

A. Call Judge Milian, Judge Mathis, or sue him in local small claims court for internet fraud and for you stuff back, carries really really serious charges and you could represent yourself.

B. Um, i guess there really is no b except call your states attorney and let them know that someone is commiting internet fraud against a resident of *your state* and that you would like some advice and he'll point you in the right direction.

Bottom line is there are serious laws against that carry serious crimes, Internet fraud is considered a class 2 felony dangerous stuff man he could serve up to 5 years in prison

Oh my god. I can't believe I did it. I simply couldn't get enough of this drama, so I read the entire CloudSpekk thread. It was, far and away, the most entertaining thing I've ever seen on a forum. I had read bits and pieces of it, but had never seen the story through to it's end. It has suspense, humor, candor, bitter rage, heroes, villians (well, only one actually)...
