It's not that bad there if you go during the daytime. If you go at night, make sure your not going alone. Have a few friends come with you.

It's not bad there. Some people look like they are bad, but they don't do anything to you. I was there the other night, but KB was a mess and had nothing I wanted. And what EBGames stores don't do the trade-in deal? I did the trade-in deal at the Kings Highway store and I've seen advertisements for it at the 2 stores in the mall. If they aren't doing it, then you should show them the ad and/or talk to a manager.

dammit! what game did you do the trrade in for? i just went to the kings highway one last week to get nfl street and they said it was over. then when i tried to do it for sonic heroes they said the games i was trading in had to all be for the same system! maybe nyc isnt the problem. maybe its just me.

The city stores are really bad (price and selection wise) when it comes to video games (like 65 per game!!!). But once you get further out near the suburbs (westchester, long island, etc...) the prices are about normal 49.99 for most. Just look for a chain store like best buy, walmart, etc.

I can't really argue you you metroidkiller9.
I think the only good in-store deal I've gotten in NYC was a new $10 Timesplitters 2 (PS2) at the Virgin Megastore in Union Square.

I live in a quasi-urban quasi-rural area in Northwest Ohio. We tend to flux between bad-deal/good-deal situations, but I'm in a still relatively newly developed zone with farmland nearby. The local gamestop and eb usually has some sweet deals, or at least reasonable prices, and I've never had trouble with trade-in situations (*knocks on wood*) Just my own experience though, never really bought games or electronics out-of-state, unless you count Michigan, which is stone's throw away. But up there is Ann Arbor, and the college town usually has some nice dealmakers lying around.

wow you got something cheap at Virgin? im amazed at your cheapness powers. as a side not, somewhere in the area of union square and st. marks is a little game shop. not sure of the exact location, but it has some great stuff. i saw an unopened atari 2600 there. they also had animal crossing, new, for $30 right after it came out. great palce if you can find it.

yeah game buying in NYC is complete hell unless you are paying 50 bucks for the new game that came out last month. forget about buying the game that came out today because it's always sold out. Deals? Imports? HAH! It's all hell. And any store that carries games, but doesnt specialize in it has a.) a totally F-ed up game section in regards to order and keeping up with current title pricing & B.) staff that can't help you one bit.
You'd think a metropolis like this would be different. I had better luck at Best Buy in Syracuse when I was still in College.

I don't know what their in-store prices are. Prices in NYC are mostly high because the rent is through the roof.

The only place I frequent in mid town manhattan, my "neigborhood store" if you will:
32nd Games
148 W.32 street N.Y, N.Y 10001
to the right of the church.
They dont stock many old games because they dont have much room, mostly the new stuff, not many imports (though they probably could get their hands on somthing for you if you asked), their prices on most games are like 5 bucks less than the EB,KB or Gamestop in the area. Usually a game will be regular price the first day it comes in but by the end of the week it will likely drop to a cheaper price.
Just dont rape this place for deals like people did to Penguin Village and cause them to raise their prices!!!

Cool yo...
I been here 8 years on this spot and our prices are better than anyone in the area. I sell all new games at $48.99 or less. We also have a price match policy. We will match prices from our site only if the site has it listed in stock. This is because our blowouts and specials are for a certain quantity of stock and if the sale is over and sold out online I can not match the price in store. Even if you see the item it is not 100% that we will sell it to you at that price. The site specials are the sites specials.
Name the system and I sell it at Multimedia 1.0

GameCube
Xbox
Playstation
PS2
Atari 2600,5200,7800
Jaguar
Saturn

....I even have a $10 porn section :-)
about the only thing we have lost touch with is current imports...the market for imports really bottomed out and we just stopped caring one day...

The circuit city on the upper west side a huge selection of clearance games. Also I was lucky to find REZ for 22 used at ebgames on 72nd and 3rd ave. I do admit the circuit city in union suxs and has nothing. You just gotta look.

If you live in Manhattan & are willing to go to Brooklyn, try going west to Jersey. Take the PATH to Pavonia Newport. There is an Electroic Boutique at the mall that does trade ins and there prices for new games is reasonable. Also, lower taxes! If you drive, ther is also a GameStop in Jersey City at Old Colony Square that is the best video game store in the tri state area. Clean, friendly and knowledgable.

Heh, I've been reading this thread thinking, "Didn't Defender sell his store and move someplace like Las Vegas?" Then I saw the dates.
I think I'm far more jealous of what NYCers have besides cheaper videogames than they should be of me.

Very true about the CC, they have shit this time around with the 1.99 sale, and during the 5 dollar sale I had a very hard time finding titles, luckily I got in early so I nabbed 14 games (disgaea, bloody roar 4 and dark cloud 2 were my big finds), but aside from that this state isnt bad for cheapass deals. I owned FYE during the anime sale thanks to this website, and because I kept showing up and hanging around with the guys I ended up working at FYE (noted only for about a month or so but still). As far as CAG is concerned in relation to finding the deals on the site in our state all I can say is you win some and you lose some, I dont think any CAG can honestly say that all the deals on this site came through for them, it really is just hit and miss sometimes. Just recently I went to CC hoping for some 1.99 games, none in site, but I managed to pricematch RE4 with the gamecrazy ad and get it for about 18 bucks with tax, my theory at work. Truely this site is fantastic.
Hi, I am making a documentary film, a tribute film to gamers. A former gamer myself this is a straight look at the people who love to play. Ask me any questions you want about it and I will answer honestly. Please email me avra.scher@gmail.com. I live in NYC and am looking for other NYC gamers 18 and older to interview. Thanks for considering this, Avra

Heh...I'm visiting my friend in Brooklyn this weekend, but I sure as hell won't be doing any game shopping while I'm there. As much as I pay for food and alcohol while I'm there, I just figured there was no point looking for deals on games.
