I thought this was kind of interesting. According to IGN, based upon the level of interest shown by visitors to the IGN, GameSpy, and TeamXbox websites, these are how the launch games stack up in terms of anticipation.
The overall rankings are as follows:
1. Perfect Dark Zero (Microsoft)
2. Dead or Alive 4 (Tecmo)
3. Madden NFL 06 (Electronic Arts)
4. Project Gotham Racing 3 (Microsoft)
5. Call of Duty 2 (Activision)
6. NBA Live 06 (Electronic Arts)
7. Kameo: Elements of Power (Microsoft)
8. Need for Speed Most Wanted (Electronic Arts)
9. NBA 2K6 (2K Games)
10. FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup (Electronic Arts)
11. Peter Jackson's King Kong (Ubisoft)

Damn, Condemned almost at the very bottom.
I thought DoA 4 was no longer a launch title?

I think it's still considered in the "launch window" at this point. It's not a launch day title, but was probably thrown in because it was close.

Perhaps this refers to the whole 'launch window' idea. I can't believe people are that excited about Madden.

I'm suprised to see Condemned so low.

I'm not. The general public has no clue what Condemned is.

I should have said "general gaming public". These numbers are from video game websites afterall.

You can't believe people are excited about Madden? Do you even pay attention to video game sales every year?

I think launch games are considered anything released within 60 days of the console's release/launch day.

It's not about video game sales, it's that why would someone be excited about a port for a new video game system. The majority of people who will have an Xbox 360 already have a PS2/Xbox/GC. Most people who wanted the latest version of Madden have picked it up for their current system so it is surprising that buyers are going to purchase another copy or have been waiting to buy it instead of on current gen systems. Even the general gaming public is aware of COD2 and PGR3 so to Madden still top those games in interest is surprising. On a second note, I wonder why people on forums like you exhibit such opprobrious conduct in civil discussions.

same here. I hope once the system is launched people will start picking it up. I never heard of the game before, but several friends of mine told me about it, then I saw a really awesome 2 page ad in last month's EGM, and I was sold. picked up my copy last night.

I don't think he was being crazy. The people who buy Madden every year are crazy. The same people who bought the current gen version of Madden on release day are the same people that probably bought Madden 2005 on the day it came out and are probably going to get the 360 version to play on their shiny new console the day it comes out. It makes no sense for people to buy the same game every year for full price when it eventually gets cheaper. The same goes for Tony Hawk, Ratchet and Clank, Tomb Raider, SSX, and all the other games that come out every year but still seem to blow up the sales charts. Hopefully, this means Condemned will be one of the first games to drop in price.
It's a great time to be a cheap ass gamer

The funny thing is that Madden 360 actually has LESS features than the current versions of Madden 06. The only thing it has going for it are shiny new graphics. Anyone who's dropping 4 bills on an XBox 360 just to play a shiny new version of Madden (or any EA Sports game for that matter as they ALL have stripped down features for the most part) is Shaq-Fu'ing Crazy

Asking a simple question is opprobrious conduct? If you say so. Sorry I wasn't "civil" enough for you on a videogame forum.
Because YOU aren't excited about Madden doesn't mean others aren't.
Let's use a different example. Let's say Bungie was releasing a "new" version of Halo 2 that had basically no major differences other than better graphics/animations and minor tweaks. Would you be surprised if it were the #1 most anticipated game for the 360? I'm going to guess you wouldn't be. And I'd bet Madden sold a hell of a lot more copies than Halo 2 did.

It has nothing to do with franchise, my point remains the same even with your Halo 2 example. It's not about being excited for a game it is that Madden for 360, as pointed out by another poster, has less features although dubiously better graphics. I'm not saying it is odd to be excited about one of the most successful franchises to be ported onto the 360. What I am saying is that I'm surprised that a port of even a successful game is more awaited than some of major launch games that still cater to the similar demographic.

Is it really a suprise about Condemed being so low on the list. This game is probably going to fall victim to the same fate as Beyond Good & Evil. As most already know most gamers will go with a sure sequel over an new and innovated title. I'm looking forward to it, but sad to say I won't be getting at launch. I'm leaning toward GUN or PDZ.

if anything, it'll sell better than it would have if it wasn't a launch title and have an easier time making a name for its self. people are way more likely to pick it up and buy it on a whim. If BG+E were a PS2 or Xbox launch title, I have a feeling we would've seen the rest of the trilogy and it would've received the props it still deserves.
