Gamecrazy just informed me that to be able to pick upo my 360 on launch day that I will have to buy 3 accessories with it. They can kiss my freakin backside. Corporation must think gamers are made out of money. Thanks for letting me vent.

I work for a GameCrazy, and while it does seem to suck that you are required to pick up three accessories (it should be items though, ie: games), you CAN return them.
I know the return policy better than most, and all you have to do is return the items UNOPENED with your receipt (we require the invoice number) within a period of seven days, and they legally have to give you your cash back, as it is our stated policy (printed on the back of the receipt you will receive).
Just make sure they give you your twelve free rentals. ;)
And when did you preorder? Corporate cut back the initial guarantee from July 14 to June something...

Why are you complaining when hundreds of thousands of gamers are gonna have to camp outside in the cold for hours to get one? Just return the damn things after you get your 360, and stop complaining, because people like me who aren't even guaranteed one DO NOT feel sorry for you.
I'd complain too if I was forced to buy 3 "accessories" to recieve something that I shouldn't have to do.

Get the accessories and sell them to VanillaGorilla. Then laugh at how he won't be able to use them.
That seems fair.

Hope the OP likes store credit. Gamecrazy is fucked up. If what djkunai says is true then most employees know this and it is pointless to even sell the items in the first place. Sample e-mail to Gamecrazy corporate on the morning of the 23rd:
To Whom it may concern,
Well we tried to force our overstock of accesories on the general public and it backfired. Not only did they return the accesories they vowed never to buy from our company again. Did you guys think this out before marketing it?
Sincerely,

There aren't 3 accesories I would even use... I only need 1 controller. My entertainment stand is next to my router, no wifi needed. I'd get the premium edition, so I wouldn't need a memory card. Don't need a headset because it comes with the premium, but I won't us that one anyways. Comes with a remote... again, not that I'd use it, I have a dvd player. I'd just pick 3 of the most expensive assesories to get dollar signs in their eyes. Put my 360 in my trunk and then go back into the store and return them.

I cancelled my pre-order and at first they said they couldn't give me my 50.00 back until the 360 was actually out. Corporate policy bullshit. Needless to say I bitched to the manager and got my money back but I'll never go back to them. Fuck Gamecrazy

Well VanillaGorilla I preordered mine right after e3 was over. I knew if I didnt order right away there might be a chance of nt getting one on launch day. Not my fault you waited until nov to decide you wanted one. I just need the 360 and 1 game for now. I think it's complete bs to make me buy games or something before getting a chance to fully read all reviews on everything. But I hope you get your xbox instead of a cold.

They're greedy, they don't give a fuck if they screw you on it. That's such backwords promotion, it should be buy 3 xbox assecorys and get sucked off.
... this is a little on the fucked side.
I've preordered 3 titles and the console. I was informed that I've been bumped to second shipment (or whatever clever term they're using for "second shipment"). I'm fine with that, as I am aware that they are only getting 6 consoles on launch day.
... but if I get the titles I had preordered on launch, and can't get my system because I'm on second shipment, will I have to buy three more accessories when second shipment comes? I could wait to get the games when I get my console... but there's no guarantee the titles will be available.

Don't let them swindle you what they're doing is wrong if they wanna make you purchase more after you put down a deposit to pre-order it. It's just wrong.[-(

Yes, it's clearly their fault you didn't pre-order early enough.

Yes, it's clearly their fault you didn't pre-order early enough.
My entire point was, there are people who are going to have to do a lot more than buy 3 accessories they can simply return, in order to get their 360.
And actually, since Microsoft cut EB and GameStop's allocations, most people who pre-ordered as early as June aren't even getting theirs in the entire month of November. So the whole "It's your fault for not pre-ordering early enough" bit is getting real old, it's MS's fault for not supplying enough consoles to the stores who guaranteed customers a system on launch day if they pre-ordered.
Hmmm, let's see. Buy 3 Rechargable battery packs for $13 a piece, and get a guaranteed 360, or wait in line at Wal Mart for 12 hours in the hope that you MIGHT get one......

So the whole "It's your fault for not pre-ordering early enough" bit is getting real old, it's MS's fault for not supplying enough consoles to the stores who guaranteed customers a system on launch day if they pre-ordered.
But why pre-sale systems if you as a store do not have a guarantee with Microsoft that you will be getting X units in the day of launch? Yes, I believe Microsoft should be producing more units so that everyone will be able to get one, but at the same time it is EB and Gamestop's own fault for just selling presales to anyone that will put money down, hell they didn't even know how many they were getting in and were selling blindly. Just because most stores assumed they would get at least 40 units in the day of launch (then selling 40 presales), doesn't mean that many will come in. At TRU were guaranteed by Microsoft those 8 "bundles", so I assured customers if they paid a $50 deposit they would be getting one, and they will. As for the other units I never threw out numbers because even myself didn't even know how many might come in during the week. EB Games/Gamestop doesn't produce the 360, so who are they do start giving guarantees on stuff like that.
I don't really blame the customers for thinking if they put down $400+ after a bunch of people they will be GUARANTEED one, I blame EB and Gamestop for even starting this kind of practice of selling pre-sale before knowing how many they would be getting in (even months in advance).
I do agree that the OP has it better than a lot of people who will wake up really early Tuesday morning and be shoo'ed away because there aren't enough 360s for everyone. Buy cheap accessories, and be happy :)

Okay, I'm gonna say this again, as I think it needs repeating...
If you purchase a console at launch (i.e. at full price), you should lose your CAG card. :}
Seriously, while I do think it sucks that corporations pull this "bait and switch" style of stuff by allowing you to pre-order a system and then slipping "extra stuff" into the deal (I wonder what the BBB would think of that?), at least SOME of the blame needs to be put on the part of those that pre-order BEFORE knowing what the full deal is. I'm not saying you "should" get screwed if you pre-order. But, if you pre-order without knowing the ENTIRE deal, then who's fault is it really?
So, Daniel-san, patience is the key to being a better informed and happy customer.
Wax-on, Wax-off.
Can you take the pebble from my hand? (okay, that one was from Kung-Fu, but it seemed to fit...lol)

I do not want to sound like an ass, and I understand everyones point of view, but when was the last time a system (and no i do not mean a handheld) came out and there was not some kind of inventory issues, I was in retail for the launch of the PS2, Xbox, and Game Cube, and every one had some issue w/ inventory. Only this time I believe many retailers are going to try to manipulate it to there advantage. I have been asking regular customers to preorder theres for months (now we do not of course), and tones of them are like I am getting a hook up or I know some one at_______, and I can get one through them, and as I know the exact quantity that all of my competitors are getting in and every one would be in the negatives if all the people listed above got what they thought they were going to get. So I wish you all the best of luck and return what you do not need (or ask to see the fine print so they can hold what they say up, because a group lawsuit would suck for them if there was no agreement, fineprint, or what not), so sorry if i was rambling as i am tired and just wanted to put in my $0.01 (the other fell out of my pocket on the couch, Joe.

that has nothing to do with corporate. I work for gamecrazy and no such communicatins have come down the line from corporate. This is just a manager or district manager being a greedy fuck. our manager is encouraging buying accessories by having a drawing for kameo from all those who get a system, 3 accessories, and a warranty. But if you pre-ordered early enough, you're getting a system. Even if its just a system.
And for whomever was told they couldn't get their money back until launch day... thats BS because we just recieved a memo about how to handle refunds of pre-orders the other day. And nothing is said about delaying refunds, other than for requested corporate checks.
There really are a lot of morons that work at our corporation.. but its the same way everywhere. Gamestop and EB horror stories are just as prevalent.

A rule added this late (less then a week away) is done by a store manager or district manager. Does not surprise me at all. They make money off of accessories, not systems.

" For all you who don't buy a console on launch you're not really a gamer". Now both of our comments are fucked up! Granted not everyone has $300-400 to drop on every console and this is CAG, but for us true diehard gamers we enjoy having a system early and not have to wait for 1-2 years. I'm cheap just like other members, but you can take your comment and shove it.

I just confirmed my Game Crazy is NOT doing this. If you pre-orders or happen to find one available for sale (doubtful), its not a Corporate tactic.
