So far I've found FedEx Kinkos and the Apple (mac) store to have free non-restricted wi-fi. Mc Donalds is a givin.

Anybody else know of any other free wi-fi spots that dont need an online log-in or WEP/Wap key?

Just because it is free doesn't necessarily mean it will work though. From what Nintendo has stated, if there is any kind of authentication (be that clicking OK on a webpage, etc.) the connection will fail since the DS has no way of interacting with something like that.

I have a business trip to Nashville coming up and I'm trying to remember if the hotel I like to stay at has totally open wireless. I'm pretty sure it does.

Borders Books and music.

I wanna say that Barnes and Nobel and Starbucks also have them.

i think you need access or a code to use barnes and nobles, or if I'm not mistaken, borders too. Universitys are he best place to do it, but only if you're a student their. I use my campus wireless to play my PSP, and with Mario Kart soon I'll do the same on DS.

Anyone pick up a WiFi detector? i think CompUSA was selling some for $10, but I don't know how usefull they are.

you can just detect wifi with your ds or psp...just keep scanning.

PSP was great for that. Walking around Ann Arbor (UofM) looking for wifi access was like being a kid in a candy shop....the list was filled with anywhere between 15 and 20 access points at a time, only about half that needed a key :)

Damnit...kinda missing my PSP again.

Thanks for the buffalo wild wings tip. So you confirmed it worked there? Everywhere I have tried I have gotten the Error code 10200. (I think that was it) I've tried Moe's Southwest Grill and McDaniel's Farm but no luck there.

Now when I go to Nintendowifi.com it tells me all the McDonalds in the area have wifi is that accurate I didn't think they all would.

Yep, almost all McDonalds...and if its on that list they do indeed have it.

As for Buffalo Wild Wings, i was actually out in the parking lot (it was 7 am after all) and they had 3 connections available, no wep key needed. Checked my friends list and everything

I'm really surprised why so many places like BK, McDonald's and other resaturants have Wi-Fi. I didnt realize the demand for it was so high in these places

I dont think Ive ever seen a guy or girl with a laptop at McDonalds
