Target
ps2
nba ballers $28.88
mx unleashed $28.88
scooby-doo mystery mayhem $28.88
moh rising sun $28.88
Get a rain check for about 30% off if one of those games are sold out, might be a YMMV since I heard some Targets stoped giving them but worth a try.

It's says under the rain check you have an option for substituting the item for another item for the same % off as long as it's within the same category toy for toy, shirt for shirt etc...btw they give you about 45 days to use the rain check plenty of time to hang on.

isn't MOH: Rising Sun regulary $49.99???
That would mean more than 30%

Yeah, but I think the trick is to get another game that's usually never on sale and use the 30% off on it. Like, if there's a $49.99 game you really want, you could then use the raincheck to get that same game for $34.99 (I think that's right, I don't have a calculator right now).
At least, this is how I understand it. I've never done it before. :\

Just saw the Target ad and it says in text under NBA Ballers, "Also on Xbox".
So is the price good for the Xbox version as well?

These deals are very, very YMMV at this point, a lot of Targets are on to this and are jerks about it no matter what the circumstances (like what you are switching for, what is in stock or not, etc.).

I got a raincheck for NBA Ballers yesterday cuz some lady bought the copy before I got it. I just hope Target still honors it if I decide to use it on another game, they messed up on the raincheck and put a quanity of 4 on it.

I looked last week and it looked like they cut MOH RS down to $39.99 as a full price . . . hence the 30%

I've noticed among the 4 area Targets, 2-3 of them give me hard time, one in particular. Seems the employees aren't informed in their training about how these rainchecks are supposed to work (the whole substitution option). I once waited for 15-20 minutes while first a cashier and then the head cashier(?) basically told me that I didn't know how to read English and insinuated that I was trying to pull some kind of scam! You see they were looking at the SALE price of the out-of-stock game and seeing that it was the same as the REGULAR price of the game I was trying to buy, did not understand why I was trying to give them the raincheck. They could literally not fathom the part about taking off the same % discount/sale. I could hear the gears screeching and see the smoke coming from their ears.
I reached my limit and demanded they call a store manager. They checked with the manager who told them to give it to me, and they did.

According to Target HQ, they have to issue rainchecks. In some states, they are forced to carry a number of items to have a sale. Moreover, it's target policy to substitute an item. If a particular store is not giving you a raincheck, or will not substitute, call 1-800-440-0680. More than likely they will give you a $10 gift card for your troubles.
I too have tried to use a rainchecks, where idiot employees cannot read the 4 lines at the bottom. Or they cannot comprehend the language. SIMPLY call or go to another Target until you get what you are entitled to.
If you don't , you're letting a store advertise an item they diliberatly know they will not have enough of. This is deceptive; help end this practice.
You guys that do this are a bunch of asshats. It's pretty cool that target does something like this. You shouldn't take advantage of it.

Might I suggest fullpricegamer.com
or itookitintheass.com
It's cheapassgamer.com, taking advantage of legit deals is what we do. There is nothing illegal or unethical about saving money.

i work in the target camera & sound department (or electronics as it is usually known), and yes, we are required to issue rainchecks for items out of stock. and yes, you can use the rainchecks for a substitute item. however, there are a few rules to the raincheck..
1. the items MUST be in the weekly ad, and if in fine print it says "quantities limited, no rainchecks issued" then there's no rainchecks. that mainly happens when an item is on clearance and won't be carried after that week. also, target does a TON of temporary price cuts on items, and you'll see these items marked everywhere in the store. however, if they're out of stock, you can't get a raincheck for it. the reasoning is that no one lured you to target to buy that item, because it wasn't even advertised. ad items only.
2. rainchecks are only for items out of stock. if there were 10 copies of nba ballers on the shelf, you couldn't ask for a raincheck for it and say you're gonna come back later. a target store will get fined automatically if it issues a raincheck on an item that the system says is in stock. for everyone that says the substitute clause on target rainchecks is unfair to target, and that people who abuse it are asses, consider this. an item is advertised, and an interested person sees it. he/she comes into target, expecting to buy it. it's not there. IF the item was in stock, the person wouldn't be able to use the substitute clause in the first place. see, the reasoning is that a store shouldn't advertise something they know will be out of stock. the raincheck is like motivation for a store to fully stock products.
3. if redeemed, it must be for that item, or for an equivalent. if you get 30% off a game, you can't use it for 30% off a camera. makes sense.
sounds weird coming from a target employee, but i redeem substitutions without question, because it's target policy. if a target electronics employee gives you hassle, ask for the LOD (leader on duty) which is basically the manager of the day. not only should the LOD redeem your raincheck, but you might get an additional percentage off for the hassle. and if the LOD says no, the target you're at doesn't have knowledgeable management.
target is a pretty flexible place to shop. employees can change prices on items without approval from superiors, though it does get monitored. in general, employees can change prices 19.99 or under automatically, given that they have good enough reason to (like a mis-tagged item), and the LOD won't give them hassle.
on a final note, every display model in electronics can be sold if it's on clearance. in fact, you can even demand 30-33% off display models, because they usually don't come with accessories (cords, remote controls, etc.). the only display models you should be wary of are the cameras, but the tvs and dvd players hardly get damaged. just make sure you get them to test it before you buy it, cuz there's no returns on display models.
