View Full Version : Somebody stole my DS...

I'm so furious right now. Hopefully it'll turn up, but right now I have many reasons to believe that my DS got stolen this is bad in a couple of ways:
- I really can't afford to buy ANOTHER DS.
-Castlevania was in it...there goes all 20 hours I put into that game
- I haven't fed my Nintendog for two days
So here's what happened:
I'm an actor. Hardy Har Har, whatever. If any of you are in Tallahassee, I attend Young Actors Theatre, and we're in final rehersals for a Christmas Carol right now. So I brought my DS to rehersal yesterday (I always do, so I can have a reason not to do homework), and played it pretty consistently, until we got to the second act, which I am on stage for most of.
So I turned off my DS and put it snug inside my bag of stuff, which was laying three or so rows back in the theatre, where I was sitting (we were running the play from the house), and left. After it was over, I grabbed my stuff and left, noticing halfway home that I didn't have my DS. So I turned around, and went back...people were still there, so I searched the theatre high and low - no sign of it. I asked if any of directors had moved it or anything, and they hadn't. I decided that a little kid (there are 8-12 year olds in the show) must have taken it, since I know all of the older kids really well, and none of them are that much of douchebags.
I announced today that it had BETTER turn up, and it hasn't. Tommorow I'll announce it once more - I've narrowed the canidates of who has it down to one cast, since they were the only ones there when it got taken, and I have a few suspects - namely this one kid who's been a lot of trouble in the past, and for no reason at all just didn't show up today.
I plan to BEAT the DS out of the kids if it doesn't show up. I'm so fucking angry I can't even fathom it... :bomb:
Can anyone else suggest ways I could find out who took it? Or want to donate to a fund so I can afford another? I only have like $20 at this point, and it would take me MONTHS to save up again...
RRRGH! :bomb:
I fucking HATE little kids!

You are in plays? Does that really classify you as an actual 'actor'? Ive been in plays before, can I be an actor?
Sucks about you're DS though. I have my original one stolen as well, luckily I didn't have any games in it at the time.

Well I'm in at least 3 plays a year, and might pursue it as a career, so I think it's a good classification :).

Whoa, you are a Tallahassean. Awesome.
Dunno what to say about the DS, though, aside from good luck.

Advertise a reward, and when the little shit comes to collect, call the cops on him or just take it and laugh.

That's actually not a bad idea. I may try that.

That sucks man. Similar thing happened to me. I keep all my DS games in a carry pouch (used to) and I would bring that pouch to work, since I like to play it during breaks. Well one day after work I noticed that the pouch was missing. At first I thought I had lost but in the same week I also had something stolen at work. So now I'm thinking it could've gone either way. But regardless, Nintendogs, Zoo Keeper, Meteos, Lost in Blue, Yugioh, Wario Ware, Feel the Magic are gone now. Not to mention Super Street Figher II Turbo Revival, Guilty Gear X Advance, Zone of the Enders and Broken Sword for the GBA were in the pouch as well

This reminds me of the story how I got my sp.
5 peeps at the park and one finds a gameboy sp, hes like holy shit and puts it in his pocket, and on the way out a kids parents ask if anyone has seen a gameboy and the one who found says no, then my friends were like WTF man you hsoulda gave it back.
That kid sold it to another and it didn't have the charger so months later sold it to me for 30 bucks then I bought a charger. haha poor kid.

Young Actors is supposed to be a decent place, not that this has changed my mind. Strangely, I don't think I've been inside before. At least you've got suspects.

It IS a decent place, which makes me even more amazed that someone would sink to that level. Bleh

I never take my PSP outside of my house lol. I know if I took it to work It would get stolen. I do take my old SP but only one game at a time. If me losing lighters is any indication of how easy something that small can be lost I'm better off leaving the GBA games at home. As for your DS yeah you better start saving stuff like that never gets recoverd.

Well, maybe that'll teach you not to leave a $130 (or $150 maybe) system lying around, unguarded, in front of little kids. I treat anything over $20 worth locking up...

feel ur pain, i remember back in 8th grade (1999) i had my gameboy color and pokemon cards hidden in my desk (we had the kind of desks that the top opened, and all ur books were stored (very nicely i might add) in this metal (covered!) bin. solid metal , no see thru, etc...i had my gameboy color (and pokemon cards!! ..old school baby) behind my books..and made a tiny book fort, very inconspicuous like i had pushed a few books in the back forward, so i had some space, put the gbc and cards there, then pushed the top books forward so that everythign looked neat but u cudnt see anything, well, there were 2 8th grade classes, and wed switch once day, after the switch back..i came 2 find my desk open, books on the floor, and obviously, gba (with pokemon blue :( ) and my cards gone, teacher said he saw nothing (....) and i was quite pissed..so i feel ur pain dude..and it sucks even more knowing that someone in ur midst stole ur stuff and that u see them eveyrday and crap..never did find out who did it :(...

in elementary, lots of kids steal stuff. someone stole my white out pen, all my lead, which used for mechanical pencils. someone stole my friend's SNES game which are actraiser and TMNT tournament fighters. in junior high someone stole all my rare DBZ cards. those prism holographic sticker cards. and i remember ppl stealing those hanging things for the zipper which is from Jansport bags. stupid fools.

I got my DS back today. But I still don't know who took it, and at this point, I'm suspecting a girl.
Two guys found it laying in the sink of the Boys bathroom at the theatre - not wet though, its fine. I turned it on to find that whoever took it changed the color to pink, changed the name to "Cutie" and the phrase to "Hottie". Ugh, whatever. At least I have it back...

Congrats on getting it back. Maybe if you play this right you could score a date with the chick who stole it. Thief chicks can be hot... anyone remember Shir from Phantasy Star II?

Sometimes I feel like a Thespian trapped in a man's body.
Seriously though - congrats on getting it back! Sounds like somebody got cold feet after they snagged it. You're one lucky actor!

Congrats on getting it back. But in all honesty, how difficult is it to scare the living daylights out of a 10 year old.....
Anyway, are you sure that it is a girl? After all, some of you male "actors" are a little soft, are emasculated, play for the other team, a poof, etc.....

or maybe it's kinda a joke hoping they give it gets back to you. " Oh look he calls himslef cutie" - you know how little kids are. And also how did it get in the boys bathroom, if it was a girl?

Do bathrooms have magical shield where you live to keep the wrong gender out of the wrong bathroom? That's awesome!

It was a joke. It's not completely unthinkable that she'd have snuck into the guy's bathroom to plant it if she didn't want to get caught. :)

It sickens me people steal things like that.
Good to see you got it back, but even I personally want to see whoever took it get their punishment. No respect for other people's stuff these days.

call in the CSI team! get it fingerprinted and luminolled!!! Theres still time to catch the little wench with evidence!
Or you could pull an agatha christie. Get all your fellow actors in the same room and proceed to tell them you know who stole it and how.

Early summer the day before move out at my apartment my roomies decide to throw a ginormous party (one prince would only dream of singing about) and I ended up having my DS stolen. I was in my room all but 5 minutes (to survey the madness outside of the entire apartment building, people were climbing the walls) and someone ganked it then. I was coping with it fine until I realized the game I rented was in there (meteos)... Okay, I can deal with losing a 150$ system, but now I gotta pay 30$ to have it stolen from me?
Needless to say I havent been renting anything from blockbuster in a while -_-
I just bought a new one today (at blockbuster!) for 99$... so many for sale i was able to buy one in totally mint condition... Bastards didnt have mario kart in stock... now I actually have a new ds but have to wait until I manage to come across mk at another store
