I recently won 13 dvd's (each was a seperate auction) from one seller. Who happens to live in Louisiana. According to her: "due to the effects of the hurricane in this area the post offices are requesting that people refrain from sending packages larger than a thick envelope to or from this area. Larger packages seem to be ending up in odd places or being lost entirely."
Instead of the $9.20 for one box, she wants me to pay $65 for 13 seperate envelopes. I asked her if the hurricane is also effecting UPS & Fedex's shipping (as she only stated 'post offices'). Also, fedex has a cheaper 3 day shipping than USPS priority mail.
Havent gotten her response. I asked if she would cancel my bids if Fedex/UPS arent available (as $65 for shipping something that weighs 3lbs is BS). But just in the case that she refuses to cancel my bids, what should i do? Does ebay have some kind of loophole that i can use to get out of the auctions? Or will i have to take a hit of 13 negatives on my flawless feedback?

Did she say if combined shipping was offered? If she said she would and then won't then I would report her to EBay and explain the situation and hopefully you wouldn't have to deal with unfair negative feedback.

The auction itself didnt say that she would combine shipping, but in the email she said that 'normally she would'.

$5 shipping on an individual DVD in a padded envelope is way too high.
I don't know how she worded her auctions, but if she's got internet access and a pile of DVDs and padded envelopes, she's probably got access to some shoes so she can shuffle her ass down to UPS and send it for a reasonable amount of money.

Heres how she responded:
"If you wish to cancel your bids, you may. At the moment, things here are expensive everywhere. Many businesses are out of business. There are many places that cannot get supplies in. At the moment, it's not the shipping itself that is expensive, but the packaging."
Dont UPS & Fedex stores provide boxes? Oh well, im just going to tell her to cancel my bids, its a shame, got a hell of a lot of deals too ><

If they don't provide boxes she could easily get a box for under $5 and some bubble wrap at the dollar store.

Sounds like she either wants to put minimal effort into this or take as much money from you as she can

Uhh this area was just hit by a hurricane, I don't think boxes will be in high supply

I had a seller hit by Rita and only had a delay- no B.S..
The DVDs were probably looted from Wal-Mart anyway.

lol. Yea, the woman canceled all my bids, i said that maybe once things are back to normal over there i'd do business with her again.
i think im gonna start keeping away from sellers in LA if im gonna have to deal with that B/S.
I hate to say this shit but you're getting lied to - maybe a month and a half ago I'd buy this but now, yes, things aren't back to normal, but that seller is full of t3h shit and taking advantage of people not knowing what things are really like down here. If she has the ability to list on eBay, she has the ability to get to a post office - and that jive about the "post office not accepting stuff not thicker than a padded envelope" is complete bullshit - 2 weeks after the hurricane they were taking all kinds of packages. *sigh* As if there weren't enough people taking advantage of the hurricane before
