I've looked in a few places for the answer to my question but with no success, so i'm turning to CAG.
I've been a bit skeptical about buying a 360 simply because i think it's just the same stuff with just better graphics. I've only seen kiosks and screenshots of 360 games in HD and i was wondering how big of a difference it looks like with just plain old RCA cables compared to an HD hook up.
Reason i ask is because i only have an RCA input TV and don't quite see the point of buying a 360 if it's only going to look beautiful in HD. I came to the conclusion of playing PC games in 800x600 compared to something like 1800x1440. There is no way in hell i'd play in that lower resolution. I think that's a valid reason for not wanting to get a 360 but am wondering what others think of my reasoning.

What the fuck do you think "next generation" means? Is that not what the SNES was to the NES? What the PS2 was to the PS1? What the GBA was to the Game Boy?

The reason i said that is because i still beleive the systems that are out now still have plenty of life left in them. The other systems all had a huge graphical leap from their predecessors(sp?).
And thanks for answering my question...it makes me love forums more everyday

I do believe the 360 has a pretty huge leap from the original box. Not to mention, the Xbox is at its peak in terms of graphics and the 360 is just getting started. If you don't already have one preordered then you'll have plenty of time to look at the improvements they've made then plan when to get your own 360. But yeah, not having HD is a good reason for not getting a 360 (I guess).

Yeah, I know what you mean, there's no graphical leap whatsoever between XBox and XBox 360. I mean, compare the launch titles

Remember how many early PS2 games really just looked like direct PS1 ports? It takes time to really use the full potential of a system and MS didn't put all their eggs in one basket with 1 killer game at release, like they did last time with Halo.

All i wanted was a straight answer on the graphical difference of the 360 using RCA cables instead of an HD hook up. I can't seem to get a straight answer because everyone thinks i'm bashing something so i think i'll go end myself for asking a real question. Obviously it's going to look better than a normal xbox game. But i have yet to see a 360 hooked up to a TV not in HD.

If you bothered to even look at this forum you would have seen a thread only 15 posts (by now) down from yours.

It takes too much time to do a simple search, or even browse the front of the forum.

there will still be a difference...You know that alot of current gen games can display in 720p or 1080I...And that is all hd is, just more scan lines...The difference in the graphics is there, if you can't tell, then good for you, you'll have a lot more money in your pocket over the next couple years...But for me, after I got a chance to play COD2 at a kiosk two weeks ago, this current generation went byebye...

Dingleberry you should know being a veteran here that these would be the responses. I feel like most because I too get tired of people saying that the graphics look the same as the Xbox. I know you've gotten some help with photo links and thread links, but most aren't satisfied with that. I've posted on some of those threads and I'll tell you the same the graphics are phenominal on normal TV's. Granted their is more sharpness and vivid colors with HD, but you will not be disappointed with what you get on your television. I've played a little Kameo today and was satisfied and blown away. I recommend the 360 if you got the cash laying around. The launch titles might seem subpar to some CAG's, but just like zionoverfire stated,

the 360 is in its infantcy and it will take years to reach its full potential.

Playing on an HDTV will simply give the game higher resolution. If you're playing on a standard tv set, you're still getting more polygons on screen and the added specials effects that only the next gen consoles can produce. It just won't look as sharp compared to playing on an HDTV. I'll have the same image clarity as what you're playing now.

What does next gen mean? I've heard a thousand people say is looks just like the xbox, but with better graphics. I always thought that was the definition of next gen. That was the difference between NES and SNES, as well as PS1 and PS2. The N64/Playstation gen introduced us to 3D gaming. I think the Xbox has been the biggest leap since then with the addition of Xbox LIVE.
So what do you people want next? If you're going for virtual reality holograms and interactivity - good luck with that. If you'll be happy because you get to wave a tv remote at your screen instead of a controller - you'll get your chance with the Nintendo Revolution.
If you look at tv's, HDTV is the biggest improvement since color. But bringing console games to HD isn't a big jump? Personally, I feel there are two arenas that will be crucial to "next gen" gaming: HD and on-line. 360 comes through there in spades. LIVE is definately making a next gen jump between current xbox and the 360 with stuff like marketplace, gamercards, trueskill matchmaking, and video chat.
All that being said, if you don't own an HDTV or broadband, YOU ARE NOT NEXT GEN!! The 360 is, you're just not ready for it. Microsoft has made the leap. What most of the complainers are actually saying is "The 360 is too next gen for my current set up, please cater to those who want to talk next gen without putting any investment into it." Most of those who own an HDTV and are playing on LIVE aren't complaining a bit.

That IS the definition of next gen. I think a lot of the hate is Sony fanboys eager to get their hands on the PS3 and they're pissed we're getting the next step up or something. I dunno, I can't understand why anyone would bash the 360.

no leap at all
lets be honest thats a poor comparison and you know it, why didnt you use Halo as your basis. Its a lil different when you use a game that is already out on a PC and they just bring it over. Maybe show an original game, would be a better comparison.
