Recently I put my PC parts that I have on my tradelist up for sale on Craigs list. This is what he asks me -

Hello,
I will like to purchase your item,I'll like to know how many you have for sale and their condition,i.e. if there's any fault. Please get back to me with your honest report so that we can have this transaction done with asap.I hope to hear from you soonest, thanks.

I send him an email back telling him the conditions and everything. Then I get this email. -

Hello,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Actually, I will be paying through USPS money order or bidpay money order and its not necessary that you should be a member before i can make payment because am already a member. This is how it works, as soon as i make payment with bidpay, they will notify both of us that, i have made payment for some amount and they will have to pend it inorder to findsout somethings about my payment and as soon as they approve my payment, they will also let you know that, my payment has been approved and the money order will be mailed to your address immediately and it will reach you in three to five business day, first class mail.

I think its better and safe because, once they approve payment, its sure that the seller or whoever thats involved will definately receive the money order and thats why it takes them hours to approve after payment. The money order will be delivered to your door step upon approval of payment by bidpay. Payment will be mailed to you in first class mail by (Royal Mail Courier services) and a tracking number will be provided to you which will allow you to track your payment online and will be mailed to your address in 3 to 5 business day first class mail, once its processed.

As soon as payment tracking number is given unto you which signifies that payment is on the way, i mean, as soon as you track the payment online and see it coming, i will like to ship the item immediately through Fed-ex.

As for the shipping, you dont have to pay a dime for it cos i will be responsible for the shipping to destination.Upon approval of payment,i will send you a fed-ex prepaid shipping label to you which you will affix on the package before its picked up from you.I w ill like to hear from you if this is okay by you,let me have your full name and address as it will be written on the money order so that i can proceed with the payment.

I am worried. This reminds me of that Powerbook Scam thing. Do you think this guy is trying to scam me? If he is, maybe I can do something like that Powerbook guy did and scam the sucka back. What should I reply back? Any help would be greatly appreciatied.

Thanks.

So I've been talking with my dad about this and he says I should email the buyer back telling him that the only way I am going to sell it is if he sends me a cashiers check in US dollars. Once the check clears and I have the money in the bank then I will send it. What do you guys think? I am going to try emailing him now with this.

Ahahaha, a nigerian scam copycat.

You could give him a chance and wait for the funds to completely clear before shipping, but it's probably better to just stop wasting your time. I guarantee he does not intend on actually paying.

Yeah, I think I scared him off. I told him he would do it my way or no way.
