Just a heads up for anyone who has been waiting for this set as long as I have. BB will have it for $26.99 with a bonus cd (if it's the soundtrack to the animated show, i'll shit myself right there in the store.)

Anybody know what's the difference between the CC bonus Aeon disc and the BB bonus disc?

Yes, so excited about this set. I've been waiting for it for a long time!
This might be a dumb question, but is this a collection of the shorts that aired on Liquid Television or are they a different set of shows from the clips that aired as part of LT?

Hmm...actaully I went to both BB and CC today for Aeon Flux, but it turns otu that the bonus is actually already packaged within the boxset.
My only question to this forum, is which one is more worth it (bought both) a cd soundtrack or a bonus DVD?

got it today along with my 360 (I was thinking of how incredibly sweet it would be to have a decal of her eye with a fly in it on my 360.)
the soundtrack is from the animated series and it's 18 tracks long of pure weirdness, just the way I like it.
Watched an episode, looks like they did a great job restoring the show. the packaging is not half bad either. I'm pleased with it.

It should be on sale this week at both CC and BB for roughly the same price. I believe it's $26.99 give or take a dollar (most likely give)

Well when they said complete , yes this does include the pilot plus the shorts plus the long episodes..which can be broken down into seasons
season 1....the pilot
season 2...five shorts
season 3...ten long episodes
it is very weird and kinky..and there's a lot of licking in aeon flux...i think the characters have an oral fixation. in season 1 and season 2...every episode aeon dies in interesting ways lol ....they have released seven long episodes before and has included the other three never been released on video episodes...

Would have pulled the trigger if Best Buy had more than ONE in stock, which was placed in the FAMILY section of DVD's
Anyways, drove to CC real fast, only to find out the MSRP is $30, and saving two bucks isn't that big a deal on something that is a semi blind buy faded with memory. I'll wait until I get a reward zone coupon or find it used or something.

well, it's still weird as shit-- lots of spy/counterspy action with heavy sexual and political overtones, semi-spiritual undertones, and a plot that is pretty mysterious, but has a strong enough foundation to keep you intrigued.
the shorts have no dialogue and Aeon dies in most of them and sometimes she isn't the main character. The long episodes are self-contained and have loose ties to each other. the dialogue is sparse and strangely poetic. The stories are worth watching more than once, because you catch new stuff each time.
Think Ghost In the Shell: SAC, but with people who know when to shut up, and a minimal plot, but heavy on action plus a heavy side of weirdness and you're on the right track.
hope that helps ;-)

You guys missed one of the bonuses, and the one I chose.
At Musicland stores (Sam Goody, Suncoast, Media Play) a 2006 calendar that includes production reference model drawings chosen directly by Peter Chung himself.
The other bonuses are nice, but if you want the soundtrack to the show, you're better off hunting down Drew Neumann's Eye Spy Confidential double CD album which has almost all the music from the show. I don't know if there's been a Liquid TV DVD made yet, but they'll probably make one eventually. The fact that there are several unrelated LTV shorts in the Aeon box set itself would imply there maybe future plans.
I hope more people go out and buy this, I loved the show and want to see more episodes made. I'll probably end up seeing that (likely to be disappointing, and hopefully mildly entertaining) live action film next week just to support the franchise.

I myself am going to see the live-action film next week not only just to see it, but to support the franchise. I know that there is no way for the film to be a perfect representation of what the television series/shorts was, but I am willing to accept the creative liberties that they will have to do to garner a more mainstream audience. It won't be the same as the show, but I doubt it will be as bad as many fans have been making it out to be. Nobody should have been anticipating a carbon copy of the show anyway. Still, if they can generally stick to the concept of the series, then i'll be a happy man and probably won't pan the movie. I mean, unless it turns out be on the level of a Uwe Boll film, then I probably still enjoy it.
I forgot to ask this before, and I'm way too scared to open my set, but does anyone know if these are truly "uncut"/director's cut as they claim. I know Paramount's/MTV's track record with their shows which in reality mean something more like cut stuff out or pixel it out. Just look at the Beavis and butthead and Ren and stimpy collections.
SevereTireDamage
11-25-2005, 11:51 PM
It's far beyond "uncut", it truly is a Director's Cut. You may or may not have known this, but during the original series' production there was a LOT of corporate meddling with the show by MTV executives, and Peter Chung took this opportunity to make many changes to the DVD set. This has already pissed off many purists, comparing it to George Lucas' Star Wars Special Editions. It's a bad comparison, however, as it's far closer to the "original vision" of the show than ever.
Most of the shows now have longer runtimes. New shots and special effects have been added. The original directors and scriptwriters were brought in and went over all the scripts again, to restore their original intent and dialogue. The original voice actors have been brought back (and in one case, an actor was completely replaced, as Chung hated the original) to rerecord their new lines.
Just on principle, if you already like this show and want to support the creators - not just Peter Chung, but the other writers, producers and director of the show (Howard Baker) get this DVD set.

IGN: There have been various rumblings over the years about the possibility of a second season or regular series. How much truth is there to those rumors, and how interested would you be in participating in that project?
Chung: Well, when we were doing it for Liquid Television we didn't know that it would be turned into a half-hour series, and there was that period when it was spun off into its own half-hour series. But now you're talking about doing a further season, right? Yeah, well, I don't think I want to do another season for broadcast on MTV. I found the experience of doing the first full half-hour series to be very frustrating in a lot of ways, because I felt like you're working with a lot of time constraints and budget restraints - restraints - and with content restraints, so we are developing Aeon Flux animation in another form. I'm not sure what form it's going to take - you know, direct to video or theatrical or what. But yeah, I think how the DVD sells and how the movie does will affect what form that takes.
this gets me all hot and bothered

I have heard you can generally buy extras on places like Amazon/Half.com and eBay. Anyone thought about doing that? Unless I can get the CC bonus for a few bucks through one of those outlets, I'll just pick up another set and then give it to someone as a gift. They don't need to know about the bonus.

I don't have my set yet as I mispoke earlier. I didn't buy it from CC, I ordered it from them and it hasn't arrived yet but from what I've read it apparently contains shorts from other Liquid TV shows. Had I known that at the time, I woulda just ordered from Best Buy to get the freaking bonus cd instead since it appears that's the only way I'm ever gonna get to actually hear it. (And while I'm complaining I'd just like to say that I think store exclusive bonuses like this are absurd. What, are we supposed to run out and buy multiple sets just to get all the bonus discs? Does this make any sense whatsoever to anyone?)

I've seen it on soulseek a few times. If you really want it, I can upload it for you on there. It makes great background music for perfect dark zero multiplayer. It also has a bunch of quotes from the show. "Blink once, your dead. Blink twice, your buried. any questions?" :D

The Liquid television shorts are just 3 or 4 shorts from the Liquid television series I believe. Not Peter Chung related. But it has Invisible hands, Art School Girls of DOOM, and for some reason I can't remember the others.
Hopefully this is MTV hinting at putting out a Liquid Television dvd.

The track listing included with the disc doesn't include the 7 soundbite tracks interspersed amongst the pure musical tracks which is why the numbering is off when they are included. The complete list is:
01 - Intro
02 - "My name is Aeon Flux..."
03 - Ultimate AF
04 - "What is the truth?"
05 - Monican Jam
06 - "Blink once, you're dead."
07 - Breen Lounge Lizard
08 - "Ready for the action now, Danger Boy?"
09 - Heroes of the Night
10 - "Ask yourself the question..."
11 - Heroes (Excerpt)
12 - "That which does not kill us, makes us stranger."
13 - Gravity
14 - "Light in the absence of eyes illuminates nothing."
15 - Alien Leisure
16 - Phobia Suite
17 - DemiGods
18 - Memory Lapse
