In a couple of weeks I'm planning on selling an older laptop of mine on Ebay. I've seen a couple of horror stories about Paypal fraud and the like, and want to know what advice, if any, people have for selling on ebay.

Here's what I've gathered so far.

Always use a trackable method of shipping, or at least use delivery confirmation.

Take pictures of the product being sold and put them into the auction posting, that way in the case of chargeback you can display the actual product that was sold.

Accept Paypal only from people with verified information

Put in auction post that you reserve the right to cancel bids from people with low feedback (under 5 or 10) and/or have a high amount of negative feedback.

Any other information or suggestions would help a lot.

Mention something along the lines of "Payment must be received in 7 days" or some people do 14 days. This helps to speed up the Ebay process.

If they use paypal, remove the money from your account asap. And you're on the right track with tracking and verified address, etc.

And only send to a confirmed address (different than verified), so you're eligible for buyer protection if the buyer has a fraud credit card.

How do I know it is a confirmed address?

ignore messages from people saying like
I know it is unorthodox to ask this but i am iterested in the immediate purchase of your laptop. Since my country does not let us use paypal as a method of payment, I can pay using bidpay, I just need to know your address.
just ignore them, even if they might be telling the truth, which 99.99999999999% of the time isnt true

I have noticed that with Delivery confirmation, make sure if you have it with SIGNED confirmation. I have seen a few times when Paypal will say that just tracking information isnt enough. Spend the extra dollar or two for signed delivery confirmation. It will save you a lot of headaches in the end.
