Demo disc

King Kong
Battlefield 2 (single-player)
Evil Dead: Regeneration
Serious Sam II
An assload of 360 movies

The actual mag has been redesigned. I don't really care for the redesign, but I guess it's not that much of a change-up really. They are using the Xbox 360 'X' for the top corner logo and now if a review/preview is for a Xbox 1 game it has a logo indicating that fact. If it's for a 360 game there is no logo. (A pretty clear indication IMO that they are going to be switching heavily to 360 coverage ASAP.) Also mentions that next months disc will have both Xbox 1 and Xbox 360 demos.

This issue still had a lot of content for the original Xbox anyway. I think I have 2 or 3 more issues on my sub and that will be it for me as I don't plan to buy a 360 anytime soon. The constant pimping of the 360 being the greatest thing since sliced bread has worn on me. But I guess you can't expect anything different as if the 360 flops the mag will fold and they'll all be looking for new jobs.

King Kong - Pretty neat demo. Play as Jack or as Kong. Gave Jack's section 1 play and it was a bit tricky as you must distract and then run from T-Rex not actually kill him. I had trouble finding enough places to get away from him and ended up dead. Kong's section was very fun. You just beat the crap out of some dinosaurs and the sections where you swing around to new areas controlled and looked great. Kong controls seem pretty simple, maybe too simple over a full game but I can't really say from playing the demo just a time or two.

Evil Dead Regeneration - Isn't this already out? Anyway game seemed more fun that I would have thought. Funny dialogue and using the little undead sidekick brought some neat parts.

Didn't play the other two yet.

This issue is advertising gone insane.....this issue is next to worthless, the disc is only so-so.

Kong reminded me of a standard movie-tie-in game. Simplified controls, limited gameplay, ok graphics. Rails all around, only one real way to do anything, ..is it even POSSIBLE to fall to your death if you blow a "jump" as Kong?? Beating up on T-Rex seemed kinda dull, maybe the old Primal Rage guys will dig it :)

Battlefield 2: Fun Demo, framerate issues with the game for sure. Too confusing though, no idea what the "objectives" were...no idea how to kill enemy tanks towards the end when I was the only guy left...in fact, no idea what to do at all. I just ran around shootin gat things until I died. Still, I had enough fun with the demo that I'd buy it for single player when its $9.99 at EB used.

Evil Dead: Started out fun, ended dull and boring. No way I could play an entire game of this. Bruce Campbell needs to stop doing voiceovers....tho the "JOIN US" shack intro was VERY cool if you're an Evil Dead fan ;) Thing that was most annoying was limited attacks didn't seem to do much of anything...shotgun and chainsaw...is that it? Only 1 or 2 moves for each? Seemed awfully limited...

Serious Sam II: Didn't try...

The magazine is only really useful at this point for a quick glance, I pay for the subscription soley for the demos (which is why I get so irate when the discs dont even work!)...

The disc seems especially weak for a Holiday disc. The Holiday discs have usually been packed with the demos.

Will these discs work in the 360 now...anyone know? I agree the magazine is getting bad with advertising, but most game mags I've read have been pretty bad lately.

I dont know..has anyone ever tried an OXM disc in a PS2 or DVD Player? Are they just regular DVD's with interactive menus that kick into Xbox mode when you try to run a live DEMO?

Or are they specially formatted....

Hmmm...kind of a stupid question I guess, but I honestly don tknow the answer ;)
