It sucks. It's like having a choke chain put around your nexk and being hoised 8 fett off the ground for eight hours a day. On the plus side, though, is that you get to screw with everyday customers and especially piss off teenagers who just want to screw your store out of business and leave you jobless.

I started to apply at best buy.com So i fill our all the usual stuff, former employment bla bla bla, then they whip out this background check shit, so I go along with it, then the drug testing, whatever, stat 1 hour emergency flush, then comes this 25 page questionere on crap like I like to talk, strongly agree, agree, disagree, fuck that, thats when I decided, fuck working at BB and fuck getting a plasma screen for %5 over cost.

I worked for toys r us.com for a summer. It was pretty cool. Its like a top secret miltary base. They have finger print scans and eye scanners just to get in and out of the place. Guess they got tired of people stealling. The have scanners in the bath rooms and breakrooms that will scan to see if you have brought merchandise into the rooms. I was geez they make and sell toys not weapons of mass destruction. Lightin up a bit. The hours sucked though. Third shift. 12 at night to 6 in the morning.

Actually, toys are just a front for what they really do. They are really developing a new jet fighter for the Air Force that's going to function like a Transformer.

5% over cost? I have doubts that BB treats their employees so well.

my buddy worked at BB for a whole 2 weeks! He wanted to get in and wait for the discount but he couldn't do it. He said the pressure to sell and push shit people don't need was shaq-fuing insane. He said he had a trainer up his ass all day.
I had the same thing BigNick-25 page "personality test"! It's a joke, they only want you to drudge through so they can laugh when they see you did it.....

yup crazy ass discount at BB. Fuck that personality shit. Most chain stores have something like that, and look at the lind of people they hire, mindless drones that obey every command and ask, would you like an extended warrenty with that?

I actually had this dumb-ass kid ask me for an extended warranty on a computer mic I was buying for my brother. I told him no, and then I saw him scan it, and try to charge me for it.
I was like, did you not hear wtf I just said?
Then, he took it off and started chuckling to himself. Fucking bastard was lucky I didn't kick his dumbass ass!

when all the harmony houses around here closed, my friend was left without a job, so he thought he might try best buy (i'm not really sure why). he was hired, and worked there for two week before quitting. it sucked. he worked in the media area, and said nobody there knows anything about anything except video games, and that they didn't care/encourage him to help anyone that was buying dvds/cds because they don't make money off of them. i'm pretty sure there were other issues there as well, since he did quit after two weeks and all.

I have worked at Best Buy for the past 7 years, 6 of which I spent out in the media dept. I worked at 2 different Best Buy stores. You have to do not only the video game section but also the cds/dvds/computer software.
You have to stock all of these items on the shelf and put them in order both alphabetically and by category. You are also expected to help all of the customers throughout this entire area, and usually there is just one or two people helping customers and not focusing on stocking the product. Realistically, some people are better at this than others. Both stores I worked at have gone on kicks where they (mistakenly) feel that the only important customers are the ones over in games, pushing accessories because that is where the highest margin is. They have both also made (tried to make) us carry around cd storage and ask things like "How do you store your cds at home? We have a great storage selection!" Despite things like this, I have worked with a lot of good people, and since I actually come in to work and work, people have mostly stayed off my back and I have had a lot of fun. You also get to see everything new that comes out as soon as it comes out. There are going to be problems, ups and downs no matter where you work. Like everywhere else Best Buy is paying you to make them money. The discount there works like this: You pay 5% above however much the company paid to get the item into the store. I've paid 63 cents for closeout videogames before. 2 dollars for a fifty-dollar tripod. Those kinds of things come up every now and then. Car speakers are about half off the retail price. If you work full time they will also pay for your tuition. Also through Microsoft’s retail program you can get free xbox games every now and then by taking a few quizzes about their products off of their website. All in all, I think its a decent enough place to work. I can't see it being any worse or any better than any other retail environment, and at least I like the products I am dealing with. If you have any questions let me know.

Yeah, that would be some pretty crazy shit. Especially, if they had the ability to talk and think like Transformers do. But I would want to befriend one and help me take over the world.
Then, I would make game companies make a bunch of kick-ass games, lower their prices to a more reasonable $15-$20 and take all the hot chicks in the world, and put them in my palace so I can do them all.
