JamesH1985
05-17-2004, 12:44 PM
i want to say sorry to all three for any trouble i have caused them, to read on what happened look at the thread refering to cloudspekk. everything is getting resolved and i am sending manofpeace money to cover his shipping cost, there was a huge mistake on my part and the user name JAMES had nothing to do with this, i hope that i can still be an active member of this great site and hope to do future trades with other users
i have accounts on aol, yahoo, tradegamesnow.com and gamespot.com under the name JAMESH1985 if anyone needs to contact me please pm me or ask in this forum

Your apology is accepted for now. You have to realize what just happened was the weirdest thing I have ever seen, and that probably goes for most users on CAG. If our PM talks keep going well, that will go a long way in making things right. Just keep in mind that if you wish to continue trading here, you may have to ship first, and that is justified.

yea i fully understand that i have to ship first now for a long time. the good thing to come out of this is that our total posts number has increased alot

i just read through the whole thread on the matter and wow, what a read. this makes me even more sorry for wasting everyones time reading and posting, and to JAMES, i am really sorry, you went through hell. i am glad everything is resolved now and the matter between manofpeace20 is being worked out, we are still gonna trade and i am also sending him a check to cover shipping and for the trouble i caused him. but it is good to see everyone on here on top of things when stuff goes bad.

Your apology is accepted for now. .. .
Seems that one can either accept an apology or reject it, can one semi-accept with the caveat that one day one may reject it? (cause thats what this kinda sounds like)
..maybe I'm just splitting hairs here and need to get back to the hoopla.
What about me? You made the ending to the story horrible and boring. I stayed up till 5 A.M. too.
Your apology is accepted for now.
Give him a break, it takes a real man to do what he just did.
As for James...that little scumbag needs to be dealt with. He could not have handled the situation any worse, and for that, he needs to be ridiculed so badly that he leaves.

Well, considering there is little to know emotional or personal involvement on internet forums, I would have to disagree.
James did act like a real jerk during this ordeal and alot of people hate him for that. Can someone give a link to the story for people that don't have a clue on what we're talking about.

I've got to disagree. It takes a real man to make an apology anywhere, because face it, people have internet egos.

You would figure that the guy who first made the accusation against James in the first place would of been able to tell the difference between James and JamesH1985.
I also figured you as a mod would know how to decipher the information you see regarding people's IPs, but I was wrong.

****
Decipher what all that means, and if you can't, then I suggest you don't make comments like that next time. I was simply making an observation and did everything I could to help they guy out. I normally don't like to get in to petty arguments with people on here, but I just cannot help myself this time.

I'm not stupid enough to get scammed out of a deal, don't worry. And you know what? Noone in this situation got 'scammed.' And if I did, I'd go to one of the mods that knew what they were doing, not saying "thank god you're here, Brolly."
God damn it, someone scam someone. We need more drama, and I will create it if I must!

You providing the ip info was very helpful. It could have solved the case. In this instance it wasnt much help.

IP info is rarely helpful unless the person really knows what they're doing with it.

What the hell? I consider jmon22 posting user's IP addresses a severe breach of user privacy. Anyone who knows anything about IP addresses and with the proper tools can decipher exactly what that means, and can be quite invasive.
I suggest jmon22 remove it and I've expressed my displeasure to CheapyD over a mod exposing that information publicly, regardless of the situation.
Yup, if someone did know what they were doing and had someone's IP address (which is damn easy to get, I might add) well, you're fucked. You can get whatever you want with that...hell, I know someone that, in CoD with me, got pissed at some moron and with his IP address, hacked something onto his pc which blew out his power supply.
PS---Whip, half of those weren't even real IP addresses...they had zeroes, probably referred to a router or something.
WOW! I can't believe that you were a rat.
WOW! I can't believe that you were a rat.
You're joking, right? You honestly think I give a damn enoguh about mine, or anyone's, IP being exposed that I'd go tell Cheapy or Whip? Or were you referring to Whip telling Cheapy, even though he was in the right?

It doesn't matter...mods shouldn't be exposing any of the information they're privy to. Period. If it was meant for everyone's eyes, it would be clearly exposed on the forum and known when you post.

First off, no one had any idea there was a second James in the picture. Everyone seemed as baffled as I was.
Second, its not like I blindly went in to this trade. I did my research on his background history and shipped UPS to get tracking. This could have happened to anyone on this board, and thats what makes situations like this and the Cloudspekk issue so interesting. It happens to the best of us.

I was talking about checking references (like feedback) before making a trade. In this instance, it was James prior to this whole mess.

After reading all that strange coincidence shit, I think all of you's owe "James" an apology. First of all, you start accusing him of shit that he basically did not know anything about. You do the same shit to me and I'll give everyone an attitude.
Aren't we supposed to prove that he's guilty first, instead of letting him prove his innocence. You already labeled him as a liar and thief just because he's saying that he knows nothing about it. You didn't even wait for the MOD's to do their jobs and find out that the IP's were different. Like he said, he's not on here everyday and he probably has a life that he can't devote his time to helping you out when he did nothing wrong. I understand about him not giving out his phone or address because manopeace could post that info and then what, every CAG is going to be calling him. I wouldn't trust anybody in here with giving out my home number and address just because you asked for it to prove myself. I'd say F U and I'd drop it at that.
That's just my opinion after reading the novel.

You must not have read the entire thread. James was pretty uncooperative when asked anything. He could have done any number of things to get this solved. Such as:
1) Telling a MOD his account was hacked
2) Working with Mighty Slacker to prove his identity.
3) Not being so stubborn
If you were in my shoes, and you went through that whole thread, you'd be convinced James was the culprit before the bizarre twist that got a second person named James involved. As I said earlier, now we have the monday morning quarterbacks coming to play.

The only thing he needed to do on that list is the first one. He was under no obligation to expose any of his information to Mighty Slacker. As for being stubborn...

He didn't need to surrender any personal information. The only thing he put forth was some horrible grammar that repeated the same irrelevant stuff.

I would say a phone number is personal information. You'd always risk prank phone calls or phone harassment. Especially since it was established in the thread that a phone with a certain area code is not proof.
Edited to add: I don't get why people make such a big deal about spelling and grammar issues on these forums.

You mean calling someone while using an Arnold Schwartzenegger soundboard is phone harrassment?

I will not get him back, I think that it is best that a mod try not to get in these kind of scuffles, it is best for the credibility of the sight.
I admit I did not do the best job of handling with the ip addresses, but it is something I must learn and get better with being a mod. I have been imformed by CheapyD and others not to post ip addresses anymore, it was just something I needed to learn. I realize I should just take the criticism given to me by RichD1, and do whatever I can to be the best mod possible.
Also a personal apology to James, who I let his ip addresses get out, and to ManofWar, who I made the first comment about

Unzips pants, I know it has something to do with erasing the ip address from my computer (I think) but I don't know where to do it, then again why would I even want to know where to do this.
Because you don't know about IP addresses like you said you did. :p
It's not advise for you, it's advice for anyone who's being a bitch and is mad that their IP was shown.
MSDOS PROMPT
ipconfig -release releases your IP so your PC has no IP anymore.
ipconfig -renew renews your IP, so your PC has a new IP with a new lease on it.

Ha I knew it
But I don't remember claiming I knew anything about ip addresses, only I knew I could find them and could be able to tell if the numbers were different from date to date. I never would've thought that there would be 18 different numbers when I looked. If I ever claimed any more than that, then I guess I deserve what is being said.
dhcp :P
dhpc scares me. :(
I always fuck up my settings and spend a good few hours reparing the dhpc settings because I really don't know much about networking.
