Anyone going shopping in an hour? I live 5 minutes from Best Buy and, since I'm up anyway, I figured I'd go try and pick up Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore on the cheap cheap.

Anyone else?

Target opens at 6 AM, I was supossed to go to best buy at 5, but apparently the Holiday has screwed me once again by causing me not to be paid just yet...

(I usually get paid at 12:00 AM on Friday... well direct deposit...)

I checked over the black friday ads, nothing looks good to me.

Went to best buy around 450am and there was a line all the way around to the back and then past the back of officemax which is right next to it. So I said forget that then went off to compusa where it was like an normal day and browsed around and picked up quake 4 for $30, the Saitek gaming keyboard for $20 (AR) and a pack of dvd-r for $7.

We went out already to Staples and got what we wanted. My brother wanted the 200 gig hard drive. We also got the dvd drive, some dvds, a laminator, norton antivirus, and a few other things. Then, we hit Office Depot for some more dvds and an APC battery backup. My dad's going to have fun filling out the huge stack of rebates we got.

Agreed. Except for one or two games, there really wasn't much that was a "deal".

I work nights and get out at 5:30 a.m., so I figured I'd swing by Best Buy on my way home, see what it looked like, and see if I could pick up Destroy All Humans for $20. They opened at 5:00, so at least I didn't have to wait out in the cold. When I got there, they had about 20 copies of it left, so I grabbed one and went to check out. That was when I noticed that they had ropes set up, and that the line to check out went from the registers to the back of the store.....and all the way back....and back to the back of the store again. There must have been close to 400 people in line. An employee told me that at the rate the line had been moving since they opened the store, it would probably be about an hour and a half before my one little video game got rang up. Screw that. I put it back on the pile and left.

On my way out, the big huge security guy (he looked like a much bigger version of Michael Clark Duncan) set up by the doors asked me why I didn't get anything. When I told him my tale of woe, he told me to go back and get the game and he'd get it checked out for me right away. I told him I didn't want to be responsible for starting a riot. He said it was no problem, but a manager heard him telling me that and came over and gave me a dirty look. The security guy was pleading my case saying "He just came to get one game", so the manager points at the ridiculous line and says "Some of those people might have come for just one battery". Anyway, I thanked the security guy for wanting to hook me up, but left with nothing. My first and last Black Friday trip to Best Buy.

They should just make "express lanes" on BF... one or two items, go to a different register or a CS station to check out, how hard would that be. At least we know they don't want your business.

I was at Circuit City for the opening, and it was pretty insane. I managed to grab most of what I wanted, but Family Guy was sold out right away. The lines were extremely long, and from the looks of it, I had bad luck on my choice. The cashier was slow and lazy, but it was worth the wait for what I ended up with.

Oh, and afterwards, at 8 am, I went to Target, and there were a ton of Family Guy DVDs, including the Stewie story. Got on line and out in 5 minutes. Target = awesome for two BFs in a row.
