Without the rude, how could you tell who feels threatened that new users will take away their imaginary board status, though?

i say we just mention something about "no newbie threads" in the FAQ. At that point, if a newbie does post one we simply lock it with the message "CheapassGamer has X new users registering every day. You do not need to make a thread to introduce yourself" rather than be forced to be polite by bumping their topic with welcomes

You do not need to make a thread to introduce yourself" rather than be forced to be polite by bumping their topic with welcomes
By being rude though you reduce the chance they'll stay around. All of us were new at one point and the board can always use new members for the long term. It's annoying, but it's not like they know everyones been doing that lately.

Nor is it subtracting anything from the OT board. I could see complaints if it were happening in the deals forum, but jeez, this is a forum dedicated to nonsense.

personally, I like it when teh no0bzors make welcome threads because everyone just rips them apart (check the thread I posted),
