nope..no digital devil saga.....i really wanted that game too...
no way i'm paying 60-70 used for it though.
I have Nocturne and guide ....great game
FYI CircuitCity's in town are still running the clearance thing.
I just picked up XIII and SIren for $13 together.
There's a couple more games I would like to get...
I've checked out the Centennial one and the Trop and Eastern one, and it seemed like most of the (cheap) clearance stuff was gone.
Probably gonna check out the Sahara one tonight.
I'm in the NW area also...Cheyenne and 215.

i wouldnt waste my time on the one on sahara the biggest hoarders start off there, now that sales have been going on i havent been able to get anything and its barely worth trying anymore, and no one said shit about the b1g1 free sale that kb was having at the meadows mall, and probably other malls as well, but i went to the meadows and they said they have no more games cuz the sale and i'm sure i check the whole kb thread and not one word, aint no help from Vegas ppl and probably FW ppl hoarding but then again i believe i met a CAG hoarding one time as well
the only sales i'm getting into now is the sales that are the ads at best buy, other than that everything else(thats worth getting)seems to be gone b4 the sales begin
mentos888
01-07-2006, 01:52 AM
i missed the kb sale, too and i missed out on dds.
the guy @ tru said there was only 1 copy left of DDS there when the 9.99 sale hit. he said they only had about 7 copies when the game first came out and most of em were bought @ that time. aaarrgh!
lvgamer1
01-07-2006, 10:38 AM
that sucks.....
although not the cheapest games on the list, I did find a lot of Silent Hill4 at the Sahara CC, and a lot of POPWW at the trop and eastern CC.
XIII are everywhere.
well, i'm gonna check out the k-mart thing (one store) this morning.
If I find anything good, I'll post.

anyone find downhill domination at any circuit city's?
Oh man, I just read about the CC deal. I have been playing RE4, and the only time I go on the net for videogame related stuff is to look at FAQS. Not that I don't want to come here, it's just not on the mind at the time. lol.
Yeah, I remember last years CC deal. Scalpers and hoaders were all over it. It's like we have about 6 people who post here, versus the 20 or so who lurk. Plus it dosen't help we live in a city of tourism.

Haha, I got one of those copies. I bought it a few days before the sale was announced on this site. Cheapass that I am, of course I took it back and got it price adjusted. Talk about lucky timing, it was like the gaming gods gave me $45 back a couple days before Xmas.
So yes, to answer an earlier poster's question, someone DID get a $9.99 copy of DDS1 in this town, SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY LIVED HERE. Whoohoo! Now if the damned tourists would just stick to shopping at Fry's, we might actually get some more deals in this town.

1) Anyone know which Gamestops/Ebgames let you purchase penny guides here in town? All the ones I’ve been too are strict about it.
2) Best Buy was usually very lazy when it got to penny guides, but lately they’ve trashed them the very first day they drop. Btw, this is the Best Buy on lake mead.

Anyhow to answer your questions:
1) Very Good questions. I haven't found one that will let me buy any yet.

You know, Vegas might not be too bad if it weren't for the fact that this place has to be the Allergy and Sinus Infection Capital of the World. Fuck, I never had allergy problems until I moved out here.
I wonder how many of the "drug related deaths" out here are due to allergy sufferers overdosing????

I live in henderson, and when ever I take the 215 to work, vegas is alway in a big dark cloudy mess, thanks to the traffic and construction.
So with that, All the constant construction going on is probably to blame for your allergies, with all the dust and debree/particles they kick up. They're supposed to water it down so it dosen't become air born. They rarely do.

For anyone's that's interested...
I just got DDS1 from the Game Crazy on Bonanza and Eastern for $15.00 plus tax. Maybe i shouldn't brag until I see if it actually plays.....
Anyway, when I called to see if they had it (they said yes), I asked them to hold it, and the guy working there said not to worry, they had a few copies of it.
It's quite possible that they have some other hard to find titles (used at least). I guess there was some sort of situation where the manager forgot to renew their 'secondary dealer' liscence and they basically had to pull all used titles off the shelf. When I got there, there were STACKS of used PS2 games behind the counter.
I stood, watched and waited while the guy dug out a copy of DDS1.
Hope this helps someone.

anyone interested in joining the official Vegas chapter for the International Game Developers Association? I went to the last meeting last night and it was pretty awesome. You get to talk with people who have worked in the industry and basically have a cool workshop.
There's only a few of us, but the coordinator is looking to expand for those interested in talking about games! I don't work in the games industry yet, but i love talking about games and the latest trends, etc. Newcomers welcome!

I heard on the news, that the Maryland Besy Buy was allowing people to buy 2 PS3s? Thats insane BS, probably one of the Managers buddies.
I stopped by the Sony store in the forums shops to visit my friend for a bit, WHAT A MESS. They say they got around 32 systems, but only allowed like 8 people in from outside (around 100 people). Someone said they saw Nick Cannon, no Dane Cook?!!? So who got treated, the High Rollers and other BS, I guess if you're a rich ass hole that spend millions in that casino, you get first dibs.
Anyways, I got my PS3 from EB. :D
Next up is my Wii-Pre-Order from Eb as well. ZELDA!!

Long time Cag listener/lurker and just wanted to say high to all of the Nevadans!
There's a GameStop down on Las Vegas Blvd & Cheyenne and I like to go to a location used game shop called Game Repair on Nellis and Harris. You can always try the Wal-mart by the base. I dislike going to the Game Stop on Cheyenne because the neighborhood has gone sour in the past few years.
Question to the Las Vegas CAGS, has anyone ever setup a get together for some gaming?
I'm from Winnemucca NV. For those who don't know that is in Northern Nevada. Not much deals going on here though.
Also, for a small town Winnemucca had some really awesome arcade machines. My brother and I had to install a few ATM's for one of the Casino's and hotels throughout town and we were just floored by how many good Neo-Geo machines were in each of the small hotels and casinos. I would mind living there when I retire in 50 years or so.

Amen brother! They do suck around here. One Target that does have the clearance prices if they have the games is the Target off of Nellis & Charleston. My fav Wal-Mart to go to is the new one on 215 & Decatur - they sometimes have good deals even though they are brand new. I just really like that they have a dedicated clearance section in both electronics and the main store.
i think the problem with Vegas is that everything is usually sold out before it gets to clearance. Even still I have had some luck here and there finding things on clearance which ring up right.

There's a "Mike's Game World" on the corner of Las Vegas blvd. and Pecos that has some older stuff - the only thing worth mentioning is the 2 sealed Taiko Drum Master sets with drums. Unfortunatley they're both $40.00. (I wonder if I could talk him down?)

We don't just have local hoarders to contend with, but cali and AZ too. If this city wasn't based on tourism, you'd probably find things alot easier. But also, alot of people here who are poor and only buy games when they do go on clearance.

Im in Vegas as well, I went to the Play N Trade on Eastern and the guy who owns it said the people of this new store are assholes. He said that he offered them a look at his store to see how things run because he had heard they sell scratched games and give bad customer service. Of course this could just be the ramblings of a man trying to keep me coming to his store and not the other one in town as they are all indepently owned but just a word of warning.

Pawn Plus, the locations off of Boulder Highway and Basic area and the new one on Horizon Ridge Pkwy and Horizon. These 2 pawn shops have a great huge pile of original Xbox and a decent stack of PS2 games for sale. All their games go for 6 dollars each. Always check the quality of the disc before buying of course as I have seen some scratched games but I did get Legend Of Zelda - Twilight Princess for the gamecube perfect condition at the Boulder Highway store the other week for 6 dollars.

Is this off of Boulder Hwy & Charleston? Yes, it's true that they have a decent selection of games, but it's really hit or miss and the gas is a killer. That being said, I did pick up a minty MGS3: Subsistence for $10 from them.
Also, there's a decent one off of Washington & Buffalo. They carry decent PS3 & 360 titles but are a little overpriced. Almost grabbed MGS:The Twin Snakes from them but they had priced it at $20. WTF??
FYI - there's one or two $199.99 360's at the Galleria mall in Henderson. Picked mine up today! I'd rather see it go to a CAG'er than anyone else. Best of luck!
I went to the Pawn Plus store on Horizon Ridge, it had a few PS3 titles, mostly sports. All 6 bucks. Forgot about the one on basic.
SO the PlayNTrade on Rainbow is full of a-holes? Also, has anyone been over to gameover (is that the name?) on Nelis? They any good?

I've just started going to the Play N Trade on Eastern. It's pretty good, they're doing buy one used game get one half off right now. They have NES, genesis, dreamcast, a little bit of SNES, etc.
Brawl tournaments every monday too!
Anyone know some places that sell super ninteno games? Play N Trade is the only I've found so far, and their selection is sparse.

theres a place called gameworld on spring mtn and durango that sells SNES games, i dont know if its still there but they also use to have one on Charleston before Lamb.
Game prices suck there but they sell them, and I just saw another play n trade at Rainbow and 215
they also changed the name of a bunch of Gamecrazys to GameTap

There's also a new arcade opening in town, just up the street from the Playntrade on Rainbow (near Rainbow/Russell). I stopped in last month when they were still painting, etc, and it's a pretty big space. Opening was supposed just a few days ago, I'll drop by this afternoon and check it out.

Also, I just stopped by the gamestore on Lake Mead by wal mart in Henderson today. It used to be a GameCrazy with Hollywood Video, but now it is Mark's Video and I think the gaming section is called GameRush.
They had GH:WT set up (some guy playing the guitar the whole time I was there) and a few of stations with Madden or Naruto set up.
There were some good deals. I picked up Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 for 9.99
Some things I remember were
Eternal Sonata 360 - 8.99
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise - 19.99
Lego Batman - 19.99
I can't remember any off the top of my head, but there were some more. They had a pretty decent selection of used PS3 and 360 games as well. The PS2 was sort of lacking, but decent.
Will stop by again soon, I think.

Was just about to ask about this. A couple of the Game Crazys (around 7 according to their store locator) around here seem to have closed along with Hollywood Video and looks like all the ones I've seen so far have turned into Mark's Video and the new game place is called Game Tag.
Was gonna ask if anyone's visited the place and what the place was like. Sounds decent enough to check out by what your saying.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass $15
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of time $15
Ninja Gaiden II $20
Heavenly Sword (forgot price)
Super Mario Sluggers $15 I think
Metriod Prime 3 $15
They had a list taped on the counter, and they had a pretty large selection of titles on it. Might not be a bad idea to go and check one out. Although how often you want to shop there...

Apparently you lose it. The Game Crazy on Lake Mead and Buffalo had someone on the phone complaining about this. From what I overheard, the Game Crazys that got turned into Game Tag turned people's pre-orders and credit into their store revenue or something and people's credit/pre-orders are pretty much gone. The customer on the phone was saying something about signing up for the MVP card, never got one, and apparently can't get one anymore because their Game Crazy is gone. This was apparently the Game Crazy, now Game Tag on Centennial, or somewhere around there.
The Game Tags have been around since at least August according to one employee, so I'm not sure how many people got their stuff screwed over or even know about it, considering how long they have been around now.

It might be. The Game Tag I went to (Craig and Simmons), the phone number on the receipt is 702-631-3567. A Google search of the Hollywood Video in Vegas shows that the one that used to be on Craig and Simmons is the same number, so it looks like they might be the same, at least that one anyways.

I have been around a few corners in my life and was thinking this guy "looks suspect"... and before you knew it he grabbed it and a Guitar Hero for the Xbox 360 and runs out of the store. The guy working there and I give chase, but he had a getaway car and got away in what looked like a Geo Metro with a handicapped sign on the rearview... Keep a lookout...

The Mark's Video/GameTag is doing 50% off all used PS2/Xbox/GC games now. The one on boulder highway didn't have much that was any good though. Metal Gear Solid: Subsistence was marked around $22. so $11 is a great price for that. Also saw Rogue Galaxy marked 17.99, so i'd buy that for $9 in a heartbeat if i didn't have it.
No offense, but those gametag sales kinda suck compaired to previous/ and current sales.

Also, there is a place(if you are in the Reno area) called the Book Gallery that buys them I think. It might just be credit that you get in the store, but I scored a House of the Dead 2 and Zombie Revenge guide out of a box in there.

Well, the stuff they have is ok, but they are dicks about it. My brother(a couple of years back) wanted to get Steel Battalion from them, and he wanted them to hold it aside and think about it and he would come back and get it if he decided he wanted it. GameTag on 215 & 95 (Target Greatland Center) is having a 50% off used PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games starting today until... whenever. I don't know if it's me... being black, or maybe he thinks I had something to do with the runout... but he always acts nervous... he fumbled around trying to test a Super Nintendo console that I had brought in, and their trade-in values have suddenly went toFuck. First, if I were a part of a runout plot... it sure as fuck wouldn't have been a Guitar Hero for the Playstation 2.... I don't think I will be going back too often....

Funny you should mention that. I was at the Open-Air Swap Meet (Pecos & Las Vegas Blvd. - :twoguns:) and was striking out big time when I ran across a lone vendor with a HUGE supply of video games. She looked familiar and it took me awhile, but I finally recognized her as the owner of the GameWorld formerly on Charleston. They had a ton of stuff! I went back two weeks later and they were gone. :bomb: No idea where they went or what happened to their stuff but it was sad to see her go. I thought all the goods would get absorbed into the one up on Durango, but I don't think so.
*side note* Last time I was at the GW on Durango they had the first Ar Tonelico with art book and everything for $35. I should've bought it right then!

The only thing I've traded there was guides and he was cool-as-a-cucumber when I brought in 50+ guides. :D $0.50 each beats the fuck out of Game Haven.
If you're referring to the Pinball Hall of Fame (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinball_Hall_of_Fame), that's been around for some time now (and worth a visit when you're in town!).
Here are some pics of the new place, S&D's Ultimate Arcade:
http://driph.com/words/2008/10/sds-ultimate-arcade/
Just to follow up on this one: the place closed because the owner was in alot of trouble financially (borrowing TONS of money) and also somewhat of a child molester. :hot: I heard this from my wife's brother who attends school at Durango, so I trust him. Ewww.
A friend of mine told me a place called Game Over on Desert inn and Nellis sells retro games. Any of you guys been over there?

I've been to Game Over a few times.
Their prices aren't too bad, but sometimes you can get a good deal.
For example, they were selling a black label FF7 for $55(it's gone, don't bother).
Still a bit much for a game that sold almost 10 million copies in the US alone, but hey, it's better than ebay prices.
They don't have too much to chose from for certain systems, but luckily they don't have too many sport games/shovel ware.
You might find a somewhat rare game here and there, but don't go in expecting to find a whole bunch of Atlus games.
I plan to go there more often since they have a game room in the back for fighting games(mainly). They're going to have a Street Fighter 4 tournament this Saturday if anybody's interested. I might go if I can get my joystick and converter working...
Oh, watch out for one thing though. In the dreamcast section, they're selling a copy of Half Life. I haven't told them about that yet, so somebody do the honor? (wikipedia for the uninformed)

I used to work at Target (when I was 16) and we had several sealed copies of the BL FF VII when the price went Greatest Hits. Never to think it would ever rise in value as it did.
Whats wrong with HL for the DC?
Hyper Bolt
03-13-2009, 08:33 PM
Half Life for the Dreamcast was canceled a few weeks before it went gold.
So the copy they have is a bootleg, probably a self booting one.
Anyway, I came here to post about another store.
There's this place called Game Repair on Nellis. Forgot the major cross streets, but just check google maps or something.
I was going in expecting a small selection, but they had a LOT in there. I wasn't there to shop for games, so I didn't look around much.
Some prices were high (Vagrant Story for $45?!), but again I didn't look around too much, so maybe prices on other stuff is better.
The cashier was a bit moody, but maybe he was just having a bad day.
But then again they had a bunch of notes saying that they don't haggle...
One thing that makes them awesome though, is that they had cabs of Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Capcom Vs. SNK 2, AND Street Fighter 3: Third Strike!
I had no idea there were third strike cabs in Vegas... The closest thing I've seen is the New Generation cab in Game Works.
It's such a shame that it's pretty far away from me, otherwise I'd go in just to play SF3.

I just went to the GameTag on boulder highway near wal mart and picked up the darkness and ninja gaiden 2. I didn't see all of the sale games, but I was in a hurry.
They did have SFIV fightpads, had a chun li and ryu on display, don't know if there were more. They had collector's editions of SFIV as well, plus a ton of CE of other games and strategy guides, which was kind of suprising.
I was going in expecting a small selection, but they had a LOT in there. I wasn't there to shop for games, so I didn't look around much.

Definately post the ad! I'm hoping the price for Dark Sector is for the 360 & the PS3. Probably not though :(
And $1.25 for the Metal Gear Solid 4 guide? I'll be sure to pick up a couple of those! (They're still selling for $7.95 + shipping or $10-ish with free shipping. That's not a bad flip!)

Anyone see the Review Journals picks for Best Game Store?
Reader Pick
GAMESTOP
Multiple locations
It’s the one category we agree on every year. You continue to buy your video games here because no place in town can compete with their knowledge. It’s hard to walk into any of the stores — they’re scattered all over town — and find someone behind the counter who isn’t a complete game junkie. You appreciate this quality and so do we. Your next bet, Best Buy, is a distant second.
Staff Pick
GAMESTOP
Multiple locations
We choose GameStop every year, not just for the plethora of selection, but also for the way business is done here. We feel valued as customers and here’s why. If we buy a new game here and decide, within seven days, that it’s not all we expected it to be, GameStop lets us bring it back and get a refund. Plus, we can sell them the games we’ve played to death so they don’t collect dust on our game console. That’s why we can’t imagine going anywhere else.
I'd love to know which stores they are talking about

Went to Zia's today (Sahara & Arville) and saw they had some suprisingly decent prices on some used games:
:ps3:
Street Fighter IV - $30.99
Prine of Persia - $30.99
there were some others, but those struck me as being decent. Heck, if you had 5 other games to trade in at GS, you could make a profit off of SFIV easily.

The PnT on Rainbow is now out of business. I drove by there on Monday to find the entire store empty. Talked with the other guy (eastern & 215) who mentioned that he had given the guy some pointers, but he was too thick-headed to heed them. :applause: Oh well. The one on Rainbow was set up in the same center as a Gamestop. RULE NUMBER 1, if you're the smaller guy, you distance yourself away from the big guy and try to get other business.

I think the PnT on Rainbow opened at around the same time as the Gamestop one; so they probably didn't realize it until it was too late. Course if the owner had an attitude problem like I heard that probably just quickened its death.
One thing I always wondered was why Gamestop opened another GS on Eastern/215 when there was another one on Eastern/St Rose which is like less than a mile away. Trying to sandwich PnT and drive another store out of business?

Also theres a GameTag in the parking lot(used to be game crazy) they still have original xbox games and you can still trade them in. They all semmed to be $5, also buy 2 get 1 free. At the Target on Maryland/Flamingo I saw a copy of Star Ocean 2 for the psp down 33%. Hopefully it'll still be there when it hits 75%!!!
Thanks for the info djsmf. With any luck I can swing by sometime soon.

I was just at Target this afternoon, and they still had 3 afro samurais and a TON of Smackdowns, all on the back endcaps by the dvds.

I agree, but the OP isn't really active in this thread. :/
*still suggests an Official Vegas Thread
Oh, and I've been lurking around BBV thread. I heard about those extremely cheap + quality games = "POG prepack" games. After hours of driving around, I have no luck finding a store that has these "POG prepack" games. D:
>___>;; I wonder if anyone has any luck with this.

GAMESTOP. I kid, I kid. It really depends on how far you want to go. There's a great store on Nellis and Twain area (Game Repair) that has a s*** ton of all the old stuff. Great if you've got money to burn. Otherwise, try (as much as I loathe them) GameWorld up on Durango in between Spring Mountain and Flamingo. They've got a good selection of stuff, but be prepared to pay ebay prices and above. $120 for Valkyrie Profile? fuck you.

I doubt it. None of the stores in town have the fabled "GameRush" attached to them. Give it at least until tomorrow, but don't hold your breath. ;)

Theres also Game Over_ on S Nellis and Desert Inn and PlayNTrade on S.Eastern. Just google the store names with the street.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I'm coming from north of the border so the only major shop here is EB. I'll need to check those places out. Do you guys know of any arcades in the LV area close to the airport?

I don't think there are any arcades in Vegas anymore (besides the ones in the casinos). Back when Mary Kay's was still around, I used to go there like 3 times a week! Actually beat GigaWing there! :)
From what I can recall, I think GameWorld is going to have a few cabinets when they move to their new location.

I think your best bet would be to check Green Valley Ranch and Sam's Town. They were the arcades I used to go to in my DDR/ITG days.
Also, looks like another GameTag sale. Here is their craigslist ad, I'm gonna go check it out later today.

Wow Mary Kays, haven't heard that place in a while. When I was young it use to be a great arcade place. Free Play on Christmas too. But later down the line it turned from arcade to PC club. That was like 5 years ago the last time I went. I doubt that place is still around, if it is, it definitely is not an arcade anymore.
I know Orleans doesn't have it. Maybe Gameworks...
Nice job finding all the Gametags. I only knew of one location.

Hey everyone. Vegas CAG here!
Went to Target on Rainbow yesterday, and they didn't have too much. I did pickup a Ghost Recon 2/Splinter Cell PSP combo that was marked down to $15. Had several left.
That was pretty much it, besides SFIV, Metallica, and a couple other games for $37.
It's nice(but a little bad...heh) to know there's plenty of CAGs here in Vegas.

Yes, they are for sealed games. There was an older list that showed Lego Batman for 9.99 as well, can't find it anymore though, worth checking out in store if you drop in.
I didn't know they where moving, to where? Do you know?
I know it's more on the ghetto side of town (inner city). Maybe they could have kept their current spot on durango, if their prices weren't so inflated, to which people actually bought things.
EDIT: I was told it's over on Decature and Charleston?

The cross streets are Charleston and near Upland
And I'm pretty sure they have some of the only SF4 arcades in Vegas :applause:
All arcades are 25 cents, also
Plus, they sell YuGiOh, Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, used consoles/games and used dvds
Oh, and it's now twice as big (4 times as big if you include the arcade)

I will try them out today after work.... I need to stop being so loyal to Game Haven and start shopping around. Maybe I will shop a Mario Kart 64 just to see the price differences...

Mary Kay's is long gone... I loved the place. I hate to date myself... but I remember Third World on Main Street... and was even around during the dying days of the arcade on Fremont next to "The Circus Room" that had the best burgers in town.
"The Pinball Musuem" is open on Tropicana ... but it's for those of us old enough to remember when the confounded things had flippers and plunger do-dads on them!!

I stopped by GameWorld's new location today and it really isn't bad. No newer games to speak of but they did have 2 working MvC2 cabs, though the monitor on one was definitely on its way out. They looked like they were still setting up a lot so a few cabinets weren't operational. Decently sized arcade with games I wasn't too excited to play but I did get a kick out of playing Pocket Fighter, almost everything being a quarter was also quite nice.
Grabbed Megaman Anniversary Collection for the PS2 for $12.

Hey punkmaggit any extras that you may want to sell? I went to 3 HWVs today and found jack :(
Buffalo/Flamingo, Warmsprings/Durango (the one you said), and Haulipai/Charleston
Workers said they were All cleaned out 1st day of the sale. All i saw tons of old Sports games, tons of Racing games, Alone in the Darks, Frontlines, Mercenaries 2, Sega Tennis, Golden Axes (1 player WTF?!), 1 Two Worlds, 1 Oblivion,1 Burnout Revenge, 1 the club, 1 Blue Dragon, and a bunch of other crappy games, nothing else worth noting, and barely any of them were complete
I picked up some though, nothing great but $5 is so cheap I couldn't resist even crappy games
DBZ:Burst Limit, Spiderman:Friend or Foe, Sonic Tennis/Arcade Compilation
Wish I would've found Mirrors Edge, MGS4, Grid, Eternal Sonata , Lord of the Rings Conquest
Day one would've been awaesome.
