After seeing a potential opportunity for me to snag a DS for $99 due to the Target ads, I've been having my eye on purchasing one, the thing is, I don't know shit about the thing.

I've always been turned off from Nintendo from their targeting of a younger demographic.

I was wondering what games would be worth purchasing if I got a DS? I'm open to nearly anything, I love shooters and racing games but I also enjoy RPG's if there are any for the DS. I also like games that revolve around creative mini-games and such, as long as it is fun.

What features does the DS have in general? Battery life, screen quality/brightness/etc? I'm assuming you save your games directly onto the cart? Also, how well does the system transport when in size comparison to the PSP? Is a protective case suggested for transport (I can live w/o a case since the screens are already protected) and are there any Internet capabilities with the DS?

Thanks and hopefully I can get some of my questions cleared up.

Mario Kart DS is one of the best racing games out there and it's one of the first DS games to be wifi, meaning that you can play against anyone in the world that also has a wireless internet connection.

as for RPGs, Mario & Luigi 2 is coming out this tuesday and i can assure you that it'll be one great game.

the battery life on average is about 10 hours, depending on if you use wifi or not.

the screen size is decent but nowhere near the size of the PSP's.

the brightness is pretty decent too, it's somewhere in between the older SP's and the newer SP's.
