That cyberhome and the iLo dvdr05 they sell at sprawl-mart are the same thing and from what everybody over at afterdawn is saying, it's crap. I have the older iLo dvdr04 and it's just ok. I'd go for that Toshiba.

no offense, but why exactly do you need a dvd recorder? Would a dvd burner in your pc suffice? Either way, Iknow cyberhome has fairly shotty material. I just got a a cyberhome dvd player cuz it was ten bucks and i needed somethnig to play my dvd burns... which itll only do half the time.

thanks for the input.. i probally stay away from the 99 buck model... i dont have a dvd burner on my pc and dont feel like spending close to 200 for one on the pc. I want to copy a lot of the STARZ movies off my DVR onto DVDS since they will take up less space then VHS tapes...

I know that the regular cyberhome DVD players can be modded to be region free for import movies and thats why alot of people buy the 25 30 dollar version. But I was wondering if this dvd burner model can be modded to play region free also. If so it could potentially be worth it.

you should really get yourself a dual format one...this way if your reg dvd player has a problem playing - dvds then you can always try the + format...one of them has to work

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16882101305

only thing is that i dont think it is progressive scan

If you can use a screw driver, you can put a DVDRW in your PC.

Get the NEC.

Since this question relates to this topic and I don't want to create a new one...

To burn a movie from a VHS tape, you need a DVD recorder and a VCR right? Any way to do this through your computer?

Need to compact all that phim tau ;-)

if it dont have a copyright chip in the vhs tape i think you could, i have been making copies of tv shows for years .. with basic 2 vcrs and Red white yellow cables to hook them together.. (i use them to take the ads out) BUT but if it has a copyright chip in it you would need

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=product&id=1074788270290

99.99 it allows you to make backup copys since it overright the copyprotect chip.. As long as you own the movie your allowed to make 1 back up for personal use ...

i just got it sunday and it works perfect , though its sort of high price item. and what sucks even more is you cant get a warrenty on it meaning if it breaks in a years time your shit out of luck

Th OP wants to record the movies from Starz!. Unless they have a vid input on their computer and the knowledge to do it, a pc dvd burner won't help them much.
