I've spent the bulk of my 360 time on this title. IMO, it's the best game in the series.
However, finding online opponents is proving difficult. Every time I look for a game, there aren't any. I'd love to get a full heat going (14 players).

If you're interested, sign in here and we'll try to arrange a race.

like all the reviews say, ridgeracer fans will love it. I personally don't like the whole rail sliding system. I prefer a good median like PGR3 where I don't have to fumble with customizeability and all the technical mumbo jumbo.

I do know many non racing fans who do like RR tho. It's a specific taste, but unfotunetly not too main stream.

I picked up PGR3 first but will be looking at getting Ridge Racer at some point, most likely skipping NFS:MW after playing the demo.

Ridge Racer doesn't have any "customizeablility" or "technical mumbo jumbo". I think you must be thinking of another game. Ridge Racer is a fast-paced arcade style racer and very much a 'pick up and play' type of game.

Project Gotham is much more of a sim type racer like Gran Turismo, although it still has many arcade qualities. I'd say it's inbetween Gran Turismo and Ridge Racer with sim racing and arcade racing.

Yeah that's about the right way to categorize it. You have to be precise to win in PGR3 but not as precise as you have to be in Gran Turismo.

I'm in the process of playing RR6 right now. I'm only about 5% done with the main mode (conquest or exploration or something along those lines). I've never played a RR game before, but this one seems pretty decent. I'm not sure that I fully understand the racing strategies quite yet because I'm basically just blowing away the computer competition right now, but I'll probably get online and play at some point. I'm always cautious to play online in racing games because it seems like most people already have the best cars.

Yeah, it does start out pretty easy. I'm around 20% right now, and the difficulty is finally starting to ramp up. The strategy is all about positioning your car during the straightaways in order to powerslide past your opponents. Timing your nitrous in order to maximize their power is also very important later on. I'm having a lot of fun with it, and I'm looking forward to unlocking some of the crazy concept cars.

Is there an advantage to using the dynamic style cars over the standard style cars? The standard style is incredibly easy to control while the dynamic takes a lot more touch, but from the few races that I have done, I couldn't understand why I would want to use a dynamic. Like I said, I haven't played much and I'm a RR noob, so maybe everything will become apparent to me with more time.

I'm no RR expert either, as I've only played RR6 and the PSP version. However, with the dynamic cars, I'm guessing you might be able to fill up your nitrous quicker when you get used to their handling. I also think they might be needed for races with lots of tight turns. I've noticed that I can whip around with them really quick when I powerslide correctly with them.

Bah, this game is driving me nuts. Why? I don't have it yet.

I had it pre-ordered to get at launch. A week and a half after launch the retailer I got my 360 and games from still hadn't received it. I ordered it from their website last Thursday and it's still not here even though it's been showing as shipped for 6 days.

When I get it I'll be happy to play.

For some reason distribution on this game is really, really bad. I haven't seen it in any Kmart, Target, Wal Mart or Circuit City. I think only EB and Gamestop are even carrying it.

Where at?

GameRush. I've picked up Amped 3 and Tiger Woods for that price too. Their used 360 games are $55, but all their used games are 25% off, so it brings it down to $41.25. They give $35-$40 in store credit for all the 360 games, so it's actually cheaper than renting them if you have a lot of store credit already built up.

I missed out on an eBay auction at $41. What kills me is the final price was $42..... and the damn game was NEW.

BTW as a bit of buying advice for 360 games eBay and half.com are coming in $10-15 cheaper for new games compared to retail. Why? I don't know. Will it continue? I hope so.

I definitely plan on picking this up once a price drop occurs, but can't see paying $60 since I think this game will get lost in the shuffle and drop quick. I'm up for some online games once I pick it up though.

As of two days ago, there were 666 people ranked online. An omen?
I've been playing this as much as possible. So far I've...

*spoilers*

...finished the Basic and Advanced routes, four races into Expert, took down the first race in Masters, and am plugging away at Special, which is quite a challenge.

Here's a tip:

Finishing the Basic Route will unlock Pac-Man (It's actually the last upper area, you don't have to finish the whole thing.) Play Pac-Man 'til you get more than 15,000 points. (You can't do this on the loading screen, 14,800 is the max for one board.)
When you return to World Explorer, the Pac-Man route will open up. That's one race against the little yellow bugger and his outrageously fast flying saucer. Winning that race will net you the saucer (which is a BIG help in the Special races) and a secert acheivement "Eat 'em Up". You get 15 points for the high score and 20 points for the secret.

Don't go into the later routes expecting a fair fight. The computer will use nitrous often and will fire off a double (frequently right off the starting line!) before you've had the chance to build up a single. Put in a good showing and save your nitrous for the last lap. Then get in front and BLOCK. Good luck!

Okay, so classes 1-3 in the basic route are incredibly boring. I honestly didn't lose but once or twice and I didn't really understand the whole drifting aspect. I was just flying around corners and skidding all over the place and still easily winning races (mostly without even firing off a nitrous).

Then class 4 opened up and the real game began. Finally there was a sense of speed and I actually had to learn how to play the game correctly. I still didn't lose often, but the races were a lot tighter and I actually needed to use nitrous in a lot of them.

I opened up the Pac-Man game, and I scored 22,000 points, but nothing opened up and I didn't get an achievement. I probably try that again tonight and see if it registers.

I'm looking forward to playing some of these advanced and expert courses now as I feel the game is finally starting to be fun. It's really a shame that you have to play 10-12 hours to get to the good stuff.

That's the whole problem with driving games in general anymore. You need to play 10-15 hours to get anything decent.

The first PGR drove me nuts. I got so tired of driving with a VW Beetle for 6 hours because no better car was available. The Grant Turismo games I won't even buy or rent. After having to do all those drivers license tests with crappy cars like a Neon or Focus? Bah! Screw it. Like I want to drop cash on a game to play with cars I can afford and race at a whopping 80 MPH.

I lament the death of the hover racing genre.

And now it's in the hands of the Japanese. I went from 21st to 138th practically overnight.
After 25 hours, I'm 83% complete. Those last few Special Route races are so insane, you get achievements just for winning. Good luck everyone.
I'll be throwing myself into the online mode a little more once I've finished World Xplorer.

I love this game.

My least favorite thing in the world is when I finish 1st against a bunch of hardcore Japanese players, only to be told that the race results will be void due to a upload error.

Check the downloads section for this game.

There are now 6 cars that are unlocked by downloadable key and 6 new songs for the soundtrack. The car keys are free, the 6 songs are 80 MP each.

Having totally bested World Explorer mode, I'm not really enjoying the online racing much as of late. If there was a no-nitrous option, it would be a lot more entertaining. As it is, drifting like an ass on a straight simply to build my boost doesn't really appeal to me.

However, if anyone is up for an all Pac-Man race...

I just picked this up and started playing it recently. I am still in the basic courses but would like to get some online games going after I get a few more cars.

If anyone plays online often send me a friend request and I'll jump in and play a few races. I tried to play yesterday evening for fun but I could not find a match.

I've loved RR in the past, and I'm all about the old francises, but this was a yawn-fest. Looks good, I guess.

The cars look nice, the backgrounds range from decent to crap. All the cars feel the same in their class, (dynamic, standard ... etc) as if they just reskinned them and just increased the speed. This game shows how RR hasnt really changed much, and that stale, crusty old feel is to boring to buy for $60.

The cars become even more unique as far as handling goes later on w/ the higher classes. Even w/ the starting cars though, it should be evident how much of a difference there is between the Standard and Dynamic cars in their handling.

I think Matt might have traded his copy in, I'll try to talk to him about it later.

I got mine for $34.99 brand new for people complaining about the $60 price tag. Come on this is CAG, Price match Fry's at Best Buy for $44.99 and then use a $10 rewards certificate. ;)

damn I love this game..

i kept having these crazy lags on Xbox live but then after a search on xbox forum, i found the fix! apparently there's a lag bug in the game... (someone might have posted it already but i didn't find anything about it in the search):

Disconnect your xbox 360 to PC connection! you have to disconnect it in the "system" tab in the dashboard under "PC"...

the lag DISAPPEARED! i kept finishing the race in last place b/c of the lag but now i'm getting first places! YAYYYYYYY LAG FREE RR6 ROCKS
