Uhh.. did I miss something? Apparently you can play it online as well!

Electronic Arts has released Burnout Legends for Nintendo DS, and it's the third title (following Mario Kart DS and Tony Hawk's American Sk8land) that connects to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection fo online play.
According to EA, the title was built from the ground up for the Nintendo DS and features nine gameplay modes, including rash, road rage, pursuit and Wi-Fi multiplayer. The title is rated E by the ESRB and has an MSRP of $34.99. Oddly, as of press time, it does not seem to have garnered any reviews at GameRankings.com.
So.. anyone seen this out in stores yet or have it?
edit: A few people that have it say that it's actually NOT online.
So I dunno what the hell's going on

i saw this on ign today, i was pretty suprised because i wasnt expecting it. and the wifi is an even bigger suprise. i want to see how the game fares with reviews, i wonder if the DS can reproduce the same feeling as the more powerful counterparts

I'm thinking about getting it whenever I can get a good deal on it. But it really sucks it isn't Wifi enabled though.

My guess is that someone is incorrectly labeling the local wireless play as a Nintendo WiFi connection play.

Well the commercial for the game says Wi-fi enabled:drool:

Nintendo wifi logo in the commercial, or no?
I'd be shocked if nintendo wasnt promoting the hell out of it with Nintendo Wi-Fi enabled...its most likely local only.

WiFi=Local connection. Nintendo WiFi connection = Internet
Really, Nintendo should've made the name of it's system a little more clear.

Yeah it seems to me that if it were Wifi connection enabled it would be listed on Nintendo's Wifi website along with Mariokart and Tony Hawk.

saw it at Target today, I think it was $34.99
also I'm not too sold on EA and games on the DS. they've put out a ton of crap on it.

And psp...they're just putting out crap left and right on both...annoying really.

I got NFSU2 on the DS, and I was disappointed. Because of that, I don't think I can buy this any time soon. Too skeptical.

Burnout Legends was badass on the PSP, though.
I went to check this game out... and wound up leaving with Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
I guess I'll wait to see some reviews first. As someone mentioned before, EA's efforts on the DS have been lackluster.
Here is a user review I read on GameSpot:
First off, Absolutely no WiFi. Just to clarify.
Single cart multiplayer.
Second, IMO 1st or 2nd best racer on DS. If you don't have WiFi it's the best. WiFI Marikart of course.
Quick run down is it's a complete port of Legends from PSP. The sense of speed is great. That's my problem with Mariokart I feel like I'm barely moving even on 150cc class. The graphics are sweet and the boost works great unlike NFS. That is you feel like you are going faster and pick up ground when you use it. It has a blur effect. Vehicles do take damage.
Problems include some crashes you go through scenery or half your car sticks in a wall or something. Doesn't ruin the game but enough to notice. Also touch screen nil. Menu navigation only. Which I think is better than some dumb mini games (NFS).
So why would I buy this if I own the PSP version.
1. Quick loading
2. Longer battery life by about 4 times.
3. I love Burnout
I glad this game rocks because I was worried after playing NFSU2 for the DS.

My take on it after playing a few races on my friend's copy (a Burnout nut)
Slow as all get out. Compared to Mario Kart it feels like you're driving through mud all the time.
Terrible controls. Once again, the mud picture.
No Burnout sense of speed.
Crashes are oh-so-boring compared to 2 and 3 on the consoles (the lack of speed contributes to that).
If you desparately need some arcade, non-Mario Kart racing
I'd maybe get this at $15. Not $35.

3.5 IGN (http://ds.ign.com/articles/673/673092p1.html)
That's 2 EA DS games that have scored in the 3's. Come on EA...get your shit together.

sheesh I bought the game based on a few postitive impressions. However, I recommend you steer clear of this dud. First of the all the presentation is good. At the graphics are rather nice. You certainly recognize the courses from previous games.
Right off the bat, crash mode is locked? WTF?
So I jump in to a race. The controls suck. The cars don't feel like you're driving. It is more like your are sliding across the road. The boost doesn't feel like a boost, it is just a change in perspective. The crashes are horrid. They are seemingly random, sometime a tap will result in nothing sometimes a total crash. 1 of 5 crashes are legit. The other ones are the WTF variety.
Honestly I feel that Asphalt Urban is much much better. There might be some fun to eek out if you are patient but for me, this game is going back.

Like those old handheld lcd games from back in the day where you car sit in the middle of the screen and you dodge other cars left and right. oh the good ol days.

I'll stick with Ridge Racer as far as car racing goes on my DS (cart racing is different :) )

I love my DS, but common sense tells me that a game like burnout belongs on the PSP instead. The DS isn't much more powerful than the N64 and Burnout begs for a monster of a console to be played on (crash mode).

Burnout isnt the best game to bring to the system, but they should have made it at least OK...not that shit.
