So I rented GUN today because of the GTA style gameplay and was suprised by the graphics. Sure the face models look a little better, as well are the lighting effects, but overall it looks like Activision sprayed a light coat of paint on the Xbox version and slapped $10 onto the price. Anyone else try this game out?

No, because it looked that way in the previews so I avoided it. This only reinforces my reason to avoid it.

I played the King Kong Demo and thought the very same thing. It didn't even look like a higher polygon count, just a better looking texture painted on the same models.

This I would have to disagree on. Granted I have only played the PS2 and 360 demos of Kong, but there is a significant difference in the graphics from current gen to next gen. As for the Xbox comparison I have no comment because I haven't played the port.

I rented, and then bought GUN because I enjoyed it so much. Its a PORT, not an original game. What do you expect? If you don't want to spend $10 more, DON'T. Buy it for Xbox and be done with it. Please bitch and moan about King Kong now, since its the same thing as the other versions but $10 more. Why not Tony Hawk? Why not all the sports games? We only got a few original games (Kameo, PD0, Condemed, Amped....am I missing anything.

Yes, a justification on why you'd spend $10 more on a port.

- Widescreen
- HDTV
- Acheivement Points (Little buggers are addicting to try and get)
- Because I have a job and $10 won't make or break me (Actually $5 since I used a Best Buy coupon available for free in the store)

The first three are valid arguments, but the last one applies to everyone here. We all have jobs or have some sort of income one way or another, we just won't pay for those extras. I personally wouldn't pay $10 more for Widescreen and HDTV support.. $5, sure.. but hey, you justified your point, and that's all I wanted.

I have been very disappointed with condemned.. slow paced and repetitive.

Whoa, I thought this was a thread about asking us which game disappointed you most. I never played any of the Project Gotham games. I decided to pick it up, traded it after 1hr of playtime. That game just pissed the hell out of me. I'm used to arcade racing like NSF, and Burnout. I do have NSF:MW and I love that game!

Gun and Tony Hawk would have done better if they were priced as 49.99 IMO

Take the TONE elsewhere. I wasn't bitching or moaning I was stating my opinion and how one justifies the $10 pricehike. I don't own an HD TV, Widescreen is not a big deal and for the extra moola IMO I would want more than to gather achievment points. As for the job thing I believe Scorch covered that. I would have to agree with LinkinPrime with the pricetag on simple ports to a new console. I mean we got 3 new current gen games from MS w/ the pricetag of $49.99; Kameo, PDZ, PGR3.

I am just going to pick it up on PS2 since I can get it free via not so legal means.

My first was PGR3, I was so pumped for this and wish they had waited and put the same attention to detail into the gameplay as they did into the graphics.

Not to be nit-picky, but wouldn't the difference still be $10 as you could have used the $5 off coupon on the current get $49.99 title?

Question on Gun....which version is the "original" version? In other words, which version is NOT a port? PS2 or Xbox?

EDIT: Also, I expected this to be the case for all of the 360 games that went across platforms. To say that is the reason for it being the most dissappointing 360 game is a bit much IMHO.

I think it was more along the lines of them saying - we got this game completed for Xbox/PS2 - and its pretty near the launch window - so lets slightly update the graphics and make some money for the next gen. Just like THAW (which I also rented and consider my biggest dissapointment so far - though after reading things I kind of expected it).

I rented Gun - and it was definitley a fun time. I plowed through it in like six hours of total gameplay and like gizmogc - those damn achievments are addictive. I'd consider a purchase of a dedicated next-gen sequel since it feels like they want to franchise this.

I've played PGR3, CoD2, PD0, and Condemned and none have been disappointing. I returned Madden without playing and imagine that would have been disappointing.

Thanks for the info. I usually buy PS2 if I can unless it's the ported version (like Psychonauts) although now that I have an Xbox, I am leaning toward buying the Xbox version of multiconsole games because of the hard drive.

Haha I never was interested in this game, PDZ and CoD 2 will be plenty.

Well, yes and no.
No because the coupon available for free at any Best Buy is only for the 360 versions, not PS2/XB/Cube (I think, I already used it). So the difference is $5.
IF it was for both, it still knocks it down closer to the MSRP of the Xbox one. Like I said, an extra $10 for HDTV, Widescreen, and Acheivements is well worth it. Some games Im playing just for the achievement points (Condemed), since its very boring and repetitive. If it wasn't for the achievement points I would have sold it already.

The coupon does work on the PS2, XBox and Gamecube versions as well. Since they don't expire until next year, I'm hoping the PS2 or XBox version is on sale one week for $29.99 or less by the time the coupon expires and then I will use the coupon. Looks like a fun game but not something I would spend more than $25 for
