Are you guys customising your dashboard. I seen these on another site and thought a thread where people post pics of theirs would rock. So post yours here and/or tell if yous pimping yours out.

Q: How easy is it to do?
A: If your hooked up through a router all you have to do is make sure you are using Windows Xp service pack 2. Then you have have windows connect and the NET framework installed, then you download and install the software found at xbox.com/pcsetup. Some people have no trouble at all and others can't seem to get it to work, it all depends on your setup I guess. This will allow you to stream music and view photos only, no movies without a media center PC.

Brevity,
Those are some great looking backgrounds. Can I ask you where you got the Halo background? Its the second one down. I would love to have it. Thanks..
Uh. How the hell do you do that?

If you are viewing pictures you can select to set it as background. The disadvantage is that the background is the same for all 4 tabs unlike the themes which change.

Oh crap! I wasted points on the Colts theme, then. Because its the same exact picture on all 4 blades.
Thanks for the tip, now I'll just make my own themes.

Ok here's a question for those who know :
How do you get different "trims" for the dashboard? The only ones I have are "default", "carbon", and "glass".
Thanks.

Maybe not as flashy, but since day one I've had a backround of my 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter sitting on my couch with xbox controllers in their hands staring at the tv....

I want to customize mine, but my PC has Windows 2000, not XP (it's a pretty old computer). If I were to put the picture I wanted on my PSP, could I successfully transmit it to my Xbox 360 to set as my background?

I'm not sure about PSP, but all I did is burn a photo CD because I can't connect my computer to my 360.

I don't understand how lots of people didn't know how to do this, but then again I have trouble with WMC for some reason it just won't work. Anyway you can just use a USB flash drive to upload the pics you want to customize your dashboard with.
But does anyone know what is the recommended size for the wallpaper to be? Thanks in advance.

i think cd's are the most straight forward way to get pics. also, if you have vacations pics on cd, the xbox will play a slide show of them(with music too!) pretty cool for a game system.

So the picture appears on all of the blades? Is there any way to customize 6 different pictures - one for each blade? I'm assuming no though since it looks like no one has done this... maybe in the future...

That's bullshit. Now I hate the 360 and I'm selling it when I get home. No, wait, I'm throwing it out the window so no one else has to endure the hell of 6 blades and only one picture!!! I really hate Microsoft and everyone involved with the design of the 360 - goddamn morons. It's almost perfect in every conceivable way and they overlook the 6 blades and one picture? I can't even stand it... I demand a recall.

As far as I know, it means you're not logged on to XBOX live. Once you log on, it changes and shows the advertisements.

Nero. You probably won't need that many cds unless you have like 10 million pictures you want to use. 1 or 2 should be fine.

It'll size the picture to fit your screen correctly. It'll either leave borders on the sides, or crop the top and bottom to fit in most cases.

They have to be a certain size. The exact specs I'm not sure, my Put Me in the Zoo pic is 678 pixels wide by 646 pixels high. Mine cuts off right where the Blades start, so it's a pretty nice fit.

It streches proportionally until the top and bottom are aligned, centers it, and cuts off whatever is on the sides that doesnt fit the screen

Used my spare USB memory dongle and just created a subdirectory, put the wallpaper jpgs there in 1600x1200 res (as I run HDTV) and went to the dashboard picture viewer. clicked on the thumbnail once and then selected X button and poof new background!
was sweeeet, plus it saved it everytime so I can now toggle between background themes without having the memory dongle in the USB port. :applause:
thanks all the previous posters for pointing this simple customization out :)

This is hilarious. I can't believe how many people are absolutely amazed at this feature of putting in custom pictures. Been doing it since day 1 and sure many of you have. Oh well, glad this thread has givin new life for your 360's for some of you. Now only if someone can find CHEAP usb thumbdrives/flash drives for everyone to buy (for those of us that can't connect our computers up to 360) we would have even more extremely happy CAG 360 owners. *hint*hint*:]

well some of us are new 360 owners (missed it on launch day by 3 customers in front of me :bomb: ) so only had my 360 for 2 weeks ...
the bad thing about the thumb drives is it wont let you save play lists for music there. plus only way to play videos is either direct harddrive or thru a Media Center PC
