Is it just me or is Call of Duty 2 THE hardest game to beat. I am playing through on the "Hardened" difficulty and seriously die almost 20 times during some missions. Though this game really really pisses me off sometimes (not the game, just not being able to defeat the Nazis), I still struggle putting the controller down. Great game, amazing graphics, but man this AI is almost too smart for me.

Yeah, the AI is definitely great in this game. None of this "hide behind something" and they can't find you nonsense.

Yesterday, I was being attacked, so I ran into a building for cover. They surrounded the damn building and then all ran in to slaughter me. Intense... 8-)

Just try a couple missions on Veteran... I still have no idea how I made it through the first mission on Veteran. The second mission though, forget about it.

I beat the rest of the game on medium difficulty and it was difficult but not impossible.

Yeah, I tried the DDay missions on Veteran and could only make it about 30 feet before dying.

Yeah, I've been going through the Veteran missions as well. Finished 3 I believe. They are definitely a bitch. The Tank mission was probably easiest to beat on that difficulty level, though. The AI seems dumber on that particular mission.

I played some with my buddy ("commish" on these boards) and it's difficult, but there are plenty of checkpoints to get you through the game. He just beat the entire game on Veteran and on a lot of the later levels, he would just kind of hang back and let the computer controlled characters do a lot of the work. I'm planning on borrowing it from him soon and playing through it on Veteran as well.

He's not going to be getting any medals of honor by letting others be cannon fodder.

I may try it on Veteran. I'm currently on the last level playing at the default diifficulty.

co-op over Live or split-screen? If it's over Live, how do you do it?

I got all the acheivements in the game, there were some boards were you needed to stay back and let your troops take the hits. Just be ready to spend a lot of time especially on the first level of d-day and hill 400.
