Do the American version play Japanese games, cause at school they were playing something called Shogen Jump and it was awesome.
What colors are available?
I want that black one but its in japan. If I buy it, can I still play American games?
And last can anyone recomend good japanese DS games that for sure will never make it to the states. Mostly rpg or fighters.

yes, the DS is region free.
currently, the only colors available for the US is the regular Platinum one, the Electric Blue one, the Teal one bundled only with Nintendogs, the Pink one bundled only with Nintendogs, and finally, the Red one bundled only with Mario Kart DS.
one of the best games for the DS just has to be Jump! Superstars. which is the game you mentioned in your post. it's basically a Smash Bros type of fighter, but with many many characters to choose from.
as for japanese RPGs, unless you can read japanese text, it's sorta pointless to go and import a japanese RPG. but hey, Mario and Luigi DS just came out this week and that's good enough.

Ok, yeah rpgs are kind pointless, no one could ever finish them. Besides ShogenJump, is there anything cooler?

There is no Black DS, there never has been. The Import one is carbon & it's a dark grey.

Osu Tatakae Ouendan is a great Japanese game that will probably never see our shores.
So is the aforementioned Jump Superstars,

If you mean the DS menus then you can set it to english when you turn it on for the first time. It is completely region free and will play any game from any country.
I think the Japanese DS comes with a different power cord. I don't remember the specifics since I didn't plan on importing one. Anyone here have a imported DS?

Sorry to bump this old thread but I have a similar question about the graphite DS.
Just like the last poster said the JPN DS comes with a different power cord. Can you just buy a US AC adapter and use that? Also if anyone happens to know a cheap/relaible import website please link...otherwise I will have to spend ~$180 on FleaBay.
Thanks

It doesn't come with a different power cord. It's the same as the US one (which is the same as the GBA SP one).
And if you want an import DS, try GameExpress (http://www.gameexpress.com/product_list.cfm?Department=UNIT&Category=DS&Publisher=&GameRating=&GameType=&Alpha=&Price=&MiscFeatures=&SearchCriteria=&Section=), as they are the least expensive and they're in the US. Different colored DSs go in and out of stock. Other than that, there's the usual suspects for imports (Lik-Sang, Play-Asia, YesAsia, NCSX, eStarland, etc etc).

Well, to add to the OP (a little late) Dai Gassou! Band Brothers, aka Jam With the Band, is one of the best and fun games I've played for the DS, or any system.
