My brother (who works at EB) called the other day and said that they received their ROTK DVD shipment in, followed shortly thereafter by a fax saying that they could go ahead and sell it if they wanted to.. they called to confirm this and it was confirmed, so my brother brought home a copy on Sunday night. They had 5 left. If you want it a week early, i'd advise you to call your local EB and see if they have any in! :)

I hope they dont get crazy with the special editions, because I was dumb enough to by the first one straight up and then I had to rebuy the special edition. All I know is the box set better not have any new movie footage or they better not release a special Tolkein cut or whatever. They are pullin that same crap with Kill Bills. They are releasin barebones for first and second, special editions, box set, and maybe a follow up disk for each like the American Pie. That shit is starting to piss me off. Because if you arent informed you could buy one movie and have to buy other versions if you want to experience the whole movie.

Well isn't that the popint. To get you to keep buying it. So they can keep making money off of it. Don't you remeber how many different editions of the book came out after the movie. Its to get you to buy more!

Yeah harry potter sucks! Go away $$$s! We must continue our quest to bring back the one movie!

Dont knock Harry Potter. While I would never play Harry Potter, nor read the books, the movies are entertaining.

Actually the books are WAY better than any of the movies.

I was one of those people who thought everyone was being really stupid a few years ago when everyone was acting crazy about Harry Potter. So, one day, I go buy the first book, and I got hooked.

I've read the first three books and got halfway through the fourth.

If the next movie sticks pretty close to the book, I think it will be the best one yet.

Sirius Black is one cool mofo.

I cant stand reading books to quiet. Movies are where its at for me.

Hah hah, dude you are really missing out, man.

When I really get into a good book, it feels like I'm watching a movie. I get into it that I forget that I'm reading and I just picture what's going on in the book as if it were a movie.

But those damn movies always ruin what the characters look like for me. It's kinda fun to see what you picture the characters in a book to look like and then see what others did when they make a movie.

Yeah, my brother's crazy for LOTR.. he'll get the EE as well. He's been watching the hell out of the DVD. It sucks at 2 or 3am to hear those damn Elephant things.. boom.. boom.. boom.. boom.. *horn blows*.. boom.. boom.. it's like.. give it a rest already! But yeah, the little tip I forgot to mention is the steep price, as all EB DVD's are. I don't understand why they're so expensive.

Ivanhoe
05-19-2004, 06:53 PM
they should be announcing the exact date real soon
But all the other extended came out in november the following year (i think)

So its safe to safe it will be out by then.

But then u have to remember they were dragging out each release to hype up the next movie that was coming on in december.

Now that there isnt a part 4 coming out i think it will be released months sooner (probably august)

the regular 2 disc trilogy is coming out tuesday as well
bestbuy has it for 56.99. Not much of a deal at all considering each movie was 14.99-15.99 at release

then bumped up to 19.99-24.99.

They are sure to have at least 2 more trilogy sets coming out IMO

1 for the extended editions on regular dvd format.

then maybe 2 years later when/if Bluray discs are out they will rerelease all 3 extended versions on 3 blue ray discs.

and possible the regular trilogy all one a single blue ray disc with bonus materials on a seperate disc.

You're rioght about Kill Bill...it is bare bones. But that is hardly the case with the original DVD releases of the LOTR movies. They are all 2-disc sets with special features that are not on the extended 4 disc versions. And there are a lot of special features on the 2-Disc versions. I agree in theory though.....all the special editions are annoying for the most part. I mean, Evil Dead has like 10 verions out on DVD.
