To me, the all-time best horror movie has to be the original Night of the Living Dead.

I can watch that movie again and again, and not get bored. Romero does such a good job with this movie.

The acting is done pretty good, but the zombies are what makes this movie tick. I dunno what it is, but zombies scare the fuggin' shit outta me. I think it's that your family, best friend or neighbor can be your friend one minute, then turn into a zombie and try to chew you up like mashed potatoes the next.

Dawn of the Dead was another great movie in the trilogy. I'd have to say Day of the Dead was the weakest, though.

Another recent good movie was 28 Days Later. I've heard a lot of people hate on that movie, but those people just don't know good movies. At first, the movie started off really rocky with me, with the whole male nude scene, but after that really low point, it rose to be a great movie, in my opinion.

It did what hardly any other movie did before, and that is to give me a sense of loneliness that sucked hardcore. It may not have helped that I drank half a case of Miller High Life (Hey, it was on sale for $6. I guess I'm a Cheap Ass Drunk, eh?), but I seriously felt depressed watching the movie. But I was too into to it to stop watching. Definitely a great movie.

I also liked how they had a different spin on how their zombies acted in the movie. Their zombies were smart and fast. That made some pretty intense scenes. Like when they were trying to get the tire changed in the tunnels. Whooo weeee! That scared me alot!

Evil Dead 2 is classic, horror/humor, thats always good. Some of my other favorites are the Friday the 13th and Halloween series.

I didnt like 28 days later, my big problem with it was the first half was isolation and a zombieish movie and the second half was a commentary on the military. If they would have had the movie continue in the same direction as the first half I would have really enjoyed it, but it didn't, so I don't. The American ending is weak too, how does she know how to remove a bullet and sew him back up. That was too much of a stretch for me.

Hmmmm. I would have to go with the Friday the 13th series. I was young when I first started watching them, so they stuck with me. You have to be young to watch horror movies. Nightmare onElm street is another fav. Oh ya and Halloween too.

Yeah, that was kinda dumb. I thought she said she was a nurse or something, though.

The ending with him dying was more believable.

I think outta all those three, Halloween is the scariest. Michael Myers is so much more scary than Jason and Freddy. Freddy is just funny now, and Jason just beats the shit outta people. Myers is the only one that seems really dark and morbid to me.

The original Dawn of the Dead is one of my favorite. At the beginning, when the dude gets his arm chewed on, actually made me cringe the first time I saw it.
The Shining is also one of the classics, but it's not nearly as good as the book. Those two little girls still freak me out everytime I watch it. "Come play with us Danny" YIKES!!

Based upon Ed Gein's life. He also inspired Psycho.

What about the Exorcist? For me it was the mental horror instead of the gore. But I definitely have to say Freddy, Jason, and Michael rule.

Long live Chucky.....

The Exorcist is the most memorable horror movie for me and most horror movies are not memorable IMO, therefore it is my favorite. That and the first Poltergiest. I like other horror movies like Evil Dead, TCM, The Blob, etc, etc....but they are good more for the humor and cheese factor than anything else.

No, I just thought it was kinda creepy. Acting was the best, and usually isn't in horror movies.

But again, I think I was drinking heavily so that probably weighed in on my judgement of the movie a bit.

I thought the mountain men were scary as shit, though.

Dawn of the Dead is my favorite by far.

I've been to Monroeville Mall four times now (and I don't live anywhere near Pittsburgh) and I've had a drink with David Emge in the bar at the Radisson outside of the mall (during the Pitt Comicon). Yes, I need a cookie.

The remake was great for what it was imo, but nothing will ever beat the atmosphere and original meaning of the first film... oh yeah and the ultimate badassness of Ken Foree!

Pretty cool. Yeah, that was a great movie. When we were younger, my friends and I always talked about what we'd do if there was ever a zombie invasion. The best thing we came up with was to hijack a pedal helicopter. We'd fly rooftop to rooftop and stay away from the scary zombies.

Hah, yeah well, we figured a car or helicopter wouldn't be very feasible in the long run because there would be a lack of gas, so we had to think of something that didn't require it. The pedal helicopter offered us exercise, the safety of flight since zombies don't fly and didn't require gas.

Trust me, if there's ever a zombie invasion, I'm the one you want to be with.

I have it all planned out what I would do.

The Shining. Stanley Kubrick took Stephen Kings story and made it one of the scariest films ever. How can you NOT think that Jack's performance in that was spectacular. By far The Shining. Its rated #89 in the top 250 at IMDB and I think as far as horror genre goes this is the top rated. Aliens is Sci-Fi actually but the horror aspect of it was brilliant.

As for 28 Days. This movie didnt do ANYTHING new. You just arent old enough to know that there was a string of similiar last men on earth movies from the past. There were so many bad story holes in 28 days I wanted to PUKE. An easy example...How is it that trained military personel become total assholes in less than 28 days? The lietenant (or whoever) promised his troops a woman and all this crap and the way they acted like animals after only a few weeks is total garbage. I didnt buy any of the story line at all. If I was to watch it again I would do it with a notepad to write down the 50 story holes to point them out to anyone who doesnt see this movie as pure crap. If you want to see a better movie that's similar then see Charlton Heston in "The Omega Man" from 1971.

Oh and now I think more about 28 days later...

Where were all these dead bodies? It seemed like the Zombies became really desctructive fast and when they are walking around the city there was like no dead bodies in the streets...just the cars. After 4 weeks there would still be a lot of dead carcasses around.

I don't know if it would be considered a horror movie, as it was more a comedy but I LOVED the Monster Squad when I was a kid...
Great music in that one too...
I'm also a big fan of most Troma movies, anyone into horror should look into these movies, (TROMA.com) they have some good classic horror, and some good low budget stuff, and plenty of comedy in all their movies too...
Recently however, one of the better movies in the past 5 years, is defintely the Ring, it had so much more than most people saw it for, such a deep movie...
Speaking of deep movies, it isn't a horror movie, but it was horrifying, if you get a chance to see the movie Things Behind the Sun, you should see it, it will change your life, it made me cry my ass off...

The Shining was a good one. I always liked the part where his wife is going through the papers he's been working on and all of them say the same thing "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy". I wonder how long it took someone to type that all out. This was before computer, where you could just type up a page and print out a bunch of copies.

Anyways, I'd say my favorite "horror" movie is Cemetery Man with Rupert Everett. I don't really find it scary, but it's such a bizarre movie. I highly recommend it.

Yeah, that's a good point. But I don't think a low-budget movie could really pull off having thousands and thousands of extras laying on the streets. They probably could have done some camera tricks to make it look like that, however.

I'd like to think the zombies took the people back to their pad so they could chow them down in the privacy of their own home. Also, having no dead people lying around really made the movie feel more lonely to me. Like he was really the only man left. I loved and hated that feeling.

It was about these three guys who take shelter in an abandoned movie theater and come to find out it was the site of a massacre many years ago. They find the missing bodies which have been changed. They awaken the bodies and have to survive until dawn. The doors don't open to the outside until then.

Had some cool effects. The make up guy actually worked in Hollywood. He was with Tom Savigny. Savigny did stuff like Night of the Living Dead.

As far as posting it for everyone, I would. The director/co-writer is a complete ass about it! He has become to the point that it's HIS, not ours. So if he finds out I put it on the net without him getting a big paycheck from it, I violate my contract. That means no $$$ for me. Sorry.

And BigNick-we got a chick to do the obligitory tit shot. She was a stipper but not a real hot one.....

its less scary years later, now that the cg is outdated and all, but i remember being scared to go the shaq-fuing bathroom on my own... the thought of having that dude with black eyes grabbing a hold of me in the darkness of my own home freaked the crap out of me. o_o
