I just recently bought an IPOD and my 05 Galant does not have a mps3 player in it. Is it worth it to get a FM transmitter? I was wondering how the soung quality was and on the apple site there is a bunch of diffrent ones which would be the best to get. Please help me out thanks!!

Depends on the city you live in. I live in Portland, OR so the radiowaves aren't nearly as cluttered up as the bigger cities. The sound quality is decent, I wouldn't expect car-shaking, neighborhood waking up, kind of quality. Also try to get a car charger to go along with it. I have the original Griffin iTrip and recommend it.

I think you're better off installing a head unit and plug your Ipod in. It'll be 2 times more expensive but, yeah...

Just get a 3.5mm to RCA cable and plug it into your car stereo's input in the back.

Go to your local Circuit City or Best Buy and tell them how you can connect your iPod DIRECTLY to your stereo... there are adapters available so you can get a direct connection and not use a FM transmitter.

FM transmitters suck tranny cock. Direct connection is the only way to go.

Agreed. I tried three FM transmitters and none of them were any good.

Belkin (terrible)
Monster (although this one was the best, you can get a new stereo for $40 more)
ExtremeMac (really slick looking, but a contant hum can be heard and the frequencies are lacking)

I 100% agree that direct connection is the only way to go. I bought an FM transmitter about a year ago and the sound quality is horrible, at least at the areas I usually drive at. I ended up getting a Neo Ion Car Kit which cost around 20 times more than an FM Transmitter, but the sound quality is awesome. I've had it for about a year and it still works perfect. However, direct connection might not be compatible for all cars, so check out which brand is perfect; I had to buy a wire harness on top of the kit so that it'll plug into the stereo.

I checked for the neo ion car kid for my car and it said coming soon. Are there others or is that my only option?

Yeah definately do not get a FM transmitter....

I posted this before but it will link up and connect perfectly, almost sound like a CD... but then a small problem happens... you drive. 10 feet everyhting turns to crap. I used it on a 8 hour drive, I was so close to throwing the little thing out the window... What I did find out while driving, is if you put your fingers ontop of the unit itself it cuts out all the background sound. So yes, i drove for 5 of the hours with my fingers ontop of the device. I was hoping apple would put out a blue tooth adapter with wireless headset.... but nope we get another Idock thing.

Good luck, direct connection is the best... if you drive alot definately go that route.

There are definitely other direct connection options and brands out there. Off the top of my head a couple I could think of are the iceLink and the Monster iCruze.

I checked the both you mentioned too, none for my car yet. I guess I will just have to wait.

Just go to your local Bestbuy and circuit city and ask them for help.

I bought the Griffin FM transmitter and it works pretty well. It just depends on what you want. If you get an AC adapter I get better reception. It also depends on what city you live in, and for me it works better in different cars than others. Hope that helps.

Griffin iTrip LCD FM Transmitter (http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=202009364&adid=17653&dcaid=17653) - $19.99 at buy.com

Not a bad deal at all.
