So, Mrs. Cheapy and I decided to go on a bike ride last weekend and while we were crossing a bridge, I spotted this thing.

Intrigued, I demended we investigate. Mrs. Cheapy explained that we were approaching Yume no Shima (Dream Island). The best part about Dream Island is that its actually a giant garbage dump, but because Japan spends tons of money on public works, they turned it into a pretty nice place.
The Dome you see pictured above and below is a Tropical Greenhouse (website (http://www.necsoft.co.jp/kiba/nettai/)) that actually runs off the heat produced by the garbage incinerator.

Of course, I wanted to go inside, not only to check it out, but because I was tried from riding the bike and I had recently powered down a whole bunch of lunch at an American-style family restaurant (that probably deserves its own thread).
Admission was only 250 yen each ($2), so we went inside.

Nice bananas! (ps. banana in Japanese is...banana)
