According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Me and My Katamari will include an unlockable 2D side-scrolling minigame as a bonus. The minigame, also named Me and My Katamari, features pixelated graphics with the look of a classic 8-bit game. As in the main game, the objective is to build up a huge Katamari clump by rolling it around environments and picking up various debris.

Perhaps ripped from last year's headlines, the objective of Me and My Katamari is to create new islands for animals that became homeless after getting hit by a huge tsunami. Players take the role of the pint-sized Prince of All Cosmos and roll up huge balls of debris that will be turned into new islands by his father, the King of All Cosmos. Players who make remarkably large Katamaris on a given stage will unlock the untimed eternal mode for that stage as a reward.

Other features in Me and My Katamari include a scoreboard, a gallery mode for playing unlocked movies and music, and a photo album mode where players can check snapshots they've taken of their in-game exploits. Up to 12 snapshots can be stored in the album, and they can be set as wallpapers for the PSP.
The minigame sounds cool and being able to use snapshots for PSP wallpaper should be great. The game keeps sounding better and better despite the lack of a second analog stick.

It seems easier to control with one stick.
Wallpapers from game screenshots? Pretty cool feature. I wonder what firmware this is going to require.

I think you can only control it with the D-pad in conjunction with the 4 face buttons..

That sounds like it will take some getting used to, just like playing Ape Escape on the PSP.

Still afraid of the controls, but I am much more likely to pick this up now. Loving the minigame idea.

I never played Katamari on the PS2 as I dont own one,
but I've heard good things about it,
hopefully the PSP version will be good because I'm going to pick it up

I played this at TGS and it seems to control fine.
You use the nubbin' and the d-pad together.

By the way, it comes out this week in Japan ;)

ARGH! So much temptation this week!

PSP:
Katamari
MegaMan: Irregular Hunter X

PS2:
Kingdom Hearts 2
Neo Geo Battle Colloseum
Naruto 3

I'm buying Neo Geo BC for sure b/c that'll probly never show up on PS2 in the states, and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to buy Kingdom Hearts 2.
I just can't wait til March knowing that all I have to do is ride my bike to Circle K and drop 7000 Yen. Time to start studying kanji again, lol!

God I hope this comes out soon. Looks possibly even better than GTA: LCS, and that's coming from a hardcore GTA freak.

How is that remotely possible?

I thought it was D-pad and face buttons?
